Choosing the right gel Choosing the right gel from our extensive range is mostly influenced by the desired viscosity of the gel. The lower the viscosity the thinner the gel is, the higher the viscosity the thicker the gel feels during the application. There are different influences that affect the viscosity of the gel. The composition of the gel: Longer chains of bigger molecules give the gel a thicker feel, making the gels ideal for extending the nail on forms or building the apex of the nail. Likewise these gels are very easy to use when making stiletto nails.
UV Standard Gel
UV Standard Builder Gel
The UV Standard Gel has a low viscosity, making it ideal for multi layer application. This gel gives a hard end result to the nail and is highly suitable for natural nail overlays. The UV standard gel is an all in one gel, it can be used as an adhesion layer, to build the structure and pinching of the nail and it can be buffed to a mirror like high shine. This gel is ideal for beginning nail technicians because of its ease of application. 2 minute curing time.
This thick and Crystal Clear Builder Gel is similar to the UV Standard Gel but has a higher viscosity making it ideal for use on the natural nail, on tips and when using forms. The main benefit of the UV Standard Builder Gels is the extreme easy self-leveling of the gel ensuring superior ease of application. The structure of the Builder Gel gives a medium level of flexibility creating a strong and hard nail. Like the UV Standard Gel this gel is an all in one gel that can be used as an adhesion layer, to build the nail with and it can be buffed to a mirror like shine. The UV Standard Builder Gel can be pinched to create an even and deep c-curve.

The Sheer: Sheer is the amount of force with the brush that is put on the product before curing in the UV light. Normally the more you work with the gel the thinner the gel becomes. When the technician stops working the gel, the gel gets back to its original state and thickness. This is especially helpful when it is very cold and the gels has difficulty self-leveling.

The temperature: The temperature in the salon greatly influences both the workability of the gel and the life span of the gel. As a rule, the warmer the salon, the thinner the gel feels. In these surroundings it is very important to remember the effects of the Sheer, to prevent having the gel turn too thin. Likewise in a very cold salon environment the gel will feel overly thick and difficult to work with. We strongly recommend an even salon temperature and storing your gels in a cool, dark place. Big differences in temperature and direct sunlight exposure can affect the gels.

Ultra Builder Gel
The gels offer a harder structure after cure allowing to buff the nails to a high shine. The Sculpting gels are great to make Pink and White nails on forms, due to the intense pigmentation and the stronger structure. The Sculpting gels have a great pinch ability ensuring an even c-curve. The Sculpting Gel White is the first choice for the extension edge and to make sharp pure white smile lines. Because of the high level of pigmentation we recommend not to apply the gel too thick, to prevent under curing. The Sculpting gel Pink cures in 2 minutes, the Sculpting White gel needs 2-3 minutes to cure. Sculpting gel is available in three shades: Pink, White and Super White.
The Flash Gels offer unparalleled choice to technicians because of it’s two different types; thin and thick and is the bestselling formula. The Thin Flash Gel has a higher viscosity than the UV Standard Builder Gel. The Flash Gels create very flexible nails that can be applied in one layer and the gel is highly suitable to make longer nails. The difference in viscosity between the two versions is only noticeable when working with the gel, the gel is self leveling and is extremely easy in use. The Flash Gels cannot be buffed to a high shine and has to be sealed with Top Gel. The curing time for Flash Gels is 2 minutes. Flash Gel is available in Clear in a thin and thick formula, in 30 and 50g. jars.
The Ultra Builder Gel offers superb adhesion on even the most difficult nails and a very flexible end result. The Advanced Chemistry is unequalled in the nail industry making this gel the prime choice for the nail salon. The Ultra Builder Gel is very creamy in feel when working with it but due to the Sheer it is important not to over work the gel. This creamy product is very easy to file and to fill and can be used on tips and forms. The Ultra Builder Gel has a curing time of 2 minutes. The Ultra Builder Gel is available in Clear and in 30g. and 50g. jars.

Making it shine…… Magnetic Top Gels! Magnetic offers an assortment of different Top Gels that can be divided in flexible Top Gels and non- flexible Top Gels. The choice for the Top Gel is influenced by the product underneath. The more flexibel the Gel nail is, the more flexible the Top Gel has to be. All of the Magnetic Top Gels give a superior shine to the finished nails and protect the nails from solvents and nail chemicals. It is important to know when to use which Top Gel to prevent problems like lifting and cracking of the nails. Ultra Top Gel
Soak Off Top Gel
Supreme Finish
This Top Gel is the most flexible Top Gel in the Magnetic range and has the most different usages. The Ultra Top Gel can be used over nail polish, when the polish is completely dried, can be used over nail art to seal the various elements and can be used on the natural nail for an even and sharp application at the cuticle area. It is important that the Ultra Top Gel is applied evenly over the nail in a thin layer to prevent shrinkage. If the Top Gel has been applied too thin the surface can appear uneven, to solve this apply a second layer. The Ultra Top Gel has to be cured 4 minutes to heighten the shine. When you find that the surface of the Ultra Top Gel is dull this is a first sign that you need to replace the UV bulbs of the lamp.
In the Soak-Off range of gels we recommend to use the Soak Off Top Gel, as this Top Gel is soak-able in acetone. The Soak Off Top Gel is very flexible and as such useable on all our traditional gels. The main benefit is that the Soak Off Top Gel comes in a nail polish bottle with it’s own brush ensuring an even and easy application with a high shine.
The highest shine with the easiest application… Supreme Finish offers it all. Supreme Finish cures in two minutes to a super high shine without a sticky layer. It is made to be used on gel, acrylics and fiberglass but do not touch the natural nail to prevent lifting. The Supreme Finish is a very hard Top Gel that is highly scratch resistant and not flexible.

Magnetic Color Gels The Magnetic color gels give possibilities to the most discerning nail technician, ranging from a single color overlay to intricate design and nail art, Magnetic Color gels are the prime choice. The thin viscosity and deeply pigmented color gels cure in 2 minutes. When the technician desires more color coverage we recommend to apply the color gel in 2 thin layers to prevent under curing of the gel. The color gels are available in cream shades, metallic shades or pure glitter gel.

Gelpolish is available in sets with a free matching nail polish that indicates the color, the Gelpolish is sold separately and is available in Limited edition sets of three Gelpolishes, these colors are the current fashion colors. Gelpolish needs to be cured in 2 minutes in UV light and needs to have a full cure before applying the second coat. This will prevent shrinkage and service breakdown. Gelpolish Wraps
Gelpolish Bond ensures adhesion on all nail surfaces both natural and artificial. This non acidic priming agent should be applied as a thin coat over the entire nail surface, the Gelpolish Bond does not dry completely but remains slightly tacky. The unique formula adheres to the proteins of the natural nail for the most resistant strong adhesion.
These remover wraps can be wrapped easily around fingers or toes because of the aluminum foil to which the pad is attached. Moisturize the pad with pure acetone by using a dropper. Wrap around the finger with the moisturized part against the nail. Within 15 minutes the product will be dissolved from the nail. Can also be used for Soak-Off gels and Acrylics.

Nail Plate Extenders When beauty needs to be created!
Jelena Relic, International Magnetic Trainer and Magnetic Ambassador representing the Balkan area, has been flown in for this specific Step by Step. Jelena has worked with Magnetic since 2003 and started out as an instructor. “I was trained in gel by Mey at the time, and have been developing this skill ever since. I like gel so much because it is relatively easy to apply and because it’s a technique that is not difficult to teach. Furthermore, it has endless possiblities once you know the product well. For the past three years now, I have been working both as an Ambassador for Magnetic in the Balkan and as an International Trainer for the Magnetic Certification Program”. This newly developed Super White Sculpting Gel is definitely one of my favourites. This extremely white gel is especially suitable to sculpt with, creating a very clear and sharp smile line. Due to the gel’s high viscosity it is really easy to apply on nail forms and tips, which of course makes this a popular ‘must-have’ for any gel-specialist.

Prepare your nails as usual. Make sure you do this thoroughly so the gel will adhere properly. Clean the nail, softly push the cuticles back and remove any excess skin from the nail plate. File the nail short and then remove the shine of the natural nail. Remove all the dust and clean the nail plate again. Then place the Magnetic Salon nail form under the free edge of the natural nail.
When you place the form in the correct manner, it will create a deep c-curve. Open the form on top and then lightly apply pressure on the side of the form, which will cause the c-curve to become a bit deeper than usual. This is especially important when working with gel.
Create the shape of the nail with a thin layer of Standard Builder Gel Clear, using the flat gel brush No. 6. Then shortly cure the nails in the UV lamp.
Now pinch the nails by applying pressure with the tweezers. Use a gel clamp in order to keep the product in shape during the curing process. Cure the nail under the UV lamp for about 2 -3 minutes.
Choose a suitable color Nail Plate Extender based on the skin color of your client and apply it with a Click On Oval brush. Cure for 2 minutes.
Jelena now applies Sculpting Gel Pink at the cuticle so that there will be no visible line between the enhancement and natural nail. Cure for 2 minutes.
Wipe off the sticky residue with a nail wipe and finsishing wipe.
Jelena files the smile line, using an Emery Board 100/180, which makes the smile line smooth and perfect. Remove dust from the nail with a nail wipe and Nail Cleanser.
Apply the Super White Sculpting Gel to the free edge with a slightly smaller brush, like the Premium Gel No. 4 or a small oval gel brush, so you can work very precisely. With a strongly pigmented gel like this one, you have to make sure to only apply a thin layer to guarant complete cure.
Be careful when applying the Super White Sculpting Gel to the smile line. You can use a small nail art brush for the corners of the smile line. Cure for 3 minutes . Apply a second layer of Super White Sculpting Gel and make sure that the two layers will be equal to the nail plate Extender Gel. Cure nails for 30 – 40 seconds.
Pinch the nails, using the Gel Clamp on the nail, and allow the nail to cure under the UV lamp for 3 minutes.
Use a Smooth Operator to remove any deep scratches. Then make the nail dust-free and wipe it with the Nail Wipe and Nail Cleanser. Make sure the nail is completely dust-free before applying the last layer of gel.
Now apply a thin layer of Supreme Finish and cure the nail for 2 minutes. You can also use Top Gel as the finishing touch, in which case you need to cure the nail for 4 minutes

Ultra White Gel This white polish-on gel is slightly softer in color than the Extreme White Gel and gives a more natural look to the French Manicure. The Ultra White Gel is not suitable for use on Fiberglass nails and acrylics only on gel nails. Always seal the Ultra White Gel with Top Gel. The curing time is 2-3 minutes. Ultra White Gel is available in jars of 15 and 30gr.

Step by Step
Prepare the nails as usual and remove the shine. Use Nail Cleanser to ensure proper adhesion of the product. Place the Competition Nail Form.
Use Ultimate+ very dry, in a 1:1 ratio. You will see dry powder particles on the bead of the product, this is the correct ratio.
Use Camouflage Cool Powder to elongate the nail plate and form the smile line. Cure for 1 minute in the UV Lamp.
Pinch the correct c-curve in the nail using the Gel Clamps and cure for the complete 2 minutes.
Apply UV Powder White on the form and cure for 3 minutes.
Use UV Powder Clear to make a smooth transition between the nail bed and the free edge. Cure for 2 minutes.
When UV Acrylics are completely cured there is a thin inhibition layer on the surface of the nail, this should be filed of. This is uncured residual product. File the nails following the Magnetic Filing Method.
Seal the nails with Supreme Finish, cure for 2 minutes in the UV Lamp. When so desired you can seal with Top Gel but this needs to be cured for 4 minutes in the UV Lamp.

Color Drops offers endless possibilities for the creative nail artists. Mix a few drops in your acrylic liquid until you get the desired intensity of color.
For this glass nail with Color Drops Pepyn used crumbled patterned nail art foil 177044. The more wrinkels the more dramatic the effect later is.
Cut the patterned nail art foil into the correct shape and apply on top of the nail form. Place the nail form and check if the transition from the natural nail to the nail form is smooth.
Pepyn used camouflage warm pink to extend the nail bed. Fade the camouflage towards the cuticle to create a invisible transition.
By using Clear Powder, the extended part of the nail will be clear and colored. Attention: when using color drops we recommend you to rinse your brush thoroughly in clean liquid to remove the color. We advise you to work with 2 brushes.
Seal the nail using a clear powder. Use regular blush pink on the nail bed. Pinch the desired C-curve for optimal strength
Carefully remove the patterned nail art foil and finish the nail like you used to. Create a high shine using supreme finish.
The result: a beautiful nail with a lot of effect and less effort. Tip! Apply supreme finish on the bottom of the extension edge for optimal transparency.
STEP BY STEP
Beautyful transparant Kateryna prefers to work on long stiletto nails. She extended the nail bed and places the design in a way that the outgrowth is less visible. She files the top of the nail in shape and equally and then applies a Magnetic Stiletto Nail Form (step 01). The extended part is made with a thin layer of Crystal Clear Prestige (step 02). Katerina extends the nail bed using Camouflage and Opaque Pink (step 03). When the acrylic has cured a little, she softly pinches the nail using a tweezers to create a slim and strong nail (step 04). After that she applies a purple: Eivissa Purple from the Ibiza Nights Pro-Formula collection by the nail bed. Next to this color Kateryna applies an aqua color (step 05). She works very thin and blends these colors with a fading technique towards the tip of the nail. The third color is a glitter layer for the special effect (step 06). To make an extra strong nail she finished the nail with a layer of Prestige Crystal Clear (step 07).

The talented Kateryna from Kiev is just 25 and has been working five years as a nail technician. She took her training and specialized her nail art skills and techniques at Natalia Yakubchuk. In 2008 she won the national competition in Ukraine in the Nail Art Division. In several other competitions, she placed second. Her fabulous contribution to the Magnetic Tip Box Competition 2011 gave her the Tip Box Award. As a trainer and judge, she was closely involved in European and Ukrainian competitions. International she is known of demos at shows and seminars. On regular bases she is giving trainings including for the Magnetic Nail Academy. Kateryna’s favorite technique is hand painted nail art. But she can also create fantastic designs using gel and acrylics. In fact she loves all Nail Art techniques.

Kateryna Gonchar from Ukraine is becoming a popular nail art trainer. She is master in all nail art techniques and creates beautiful designer nails. In this step by step she used the Pro-Formula Ibiza Nights collection and created a sparkling stiletto nail with blue and purple shades. The nail art is made with flowers and because of the glitters it looks like you can see the reflection of the Mediterranean sea.
Pinch the nail again into shape (step 08). Use the Boomerang 100/180 to file the nail razor sharp and in correct shape (step 09). The base of the nail is ready after removing the dust. Use white nail art paint and the smallest size of the Detailer brushes to draw the small circles and flowers (step 10 & 11). Leave the petals open and only draw some small lines. Create the heart of the flower using yellow, lime and with dots. At last she accentuates every curve with thin lines using black and white paint (step 12). The curved line on the nail bed is an extra accent on the design finished with small dots (step 13). Kateryna finishes the nail using Nail Art Sealer. Your client can easily remove the design with non acetone remover. After removing use a new layer of top coat and the nail looks again beautiful.

The hair of a new brush is shaped with Arabic gum. This has to be removed thoroughly by rolling the brush head over a brush wipe. The hair splits when the Arabic gum is not removed completely, this damage is irreversible.

A passion for brushes… During the international distributor meeting in may 2011 the Magnetic Brush maker gave a workshop about the process when making a brush giving a glance into this fascinating and specialized profession. To ensure the quality of the brush it is needed to understand the elasticity, liquid retention, the softness of the hair and the resilience of the different kinds of hair. This helps in determining which hair should be used. Acrylic brushes are made of Sable hair, Gel and nail art brushes can be made of synthetic or real hair. The way the hair is put in the ferrule makes sure that the hair stays together even when applying pressure with the brush. From loose hair to a custom made brush... The hair arrives in bundles of hair in different lengths. The brush maker opens the bundle and takes the needed amount of hair. He weighs the hair and places it into a container. By gently tapping the container on the table surface the hair aligns. When the hair is aligned perfectly he places it into a second container, the so called ferrule. The ferrule actually brings the hair in the desired shape: flat, angular or pointed. The length of the exposed hair is determined by hand, and this is a highly specialized task. When the hair length is not accurate he needs to redo the whole process. The back of the ferrule is glued on the handle. The hair is then brushed and formed using Arabic gum to protect the brush during transport.
Quality comes at a price… All the brushes in the Magnetic assortment are hand made, only brushes that for instance are used in glue bottles are made mechanical. With the brushes made of Kolinsky Sable hair the
experience and knowledge of the brush maker is vital to ensure consistency. This explains the sometimes higher priced brushes, but the brushes can be used for a long time if they are properly taken care for.
First aid with acrylic accidents Never allow acrylic to cure in the brush. When this has happened dissolve the cured acrylic by placing the hair of the brush in pure acetone. Do not leave the brush standing on the tip of the hair but use a clothespin to elevate the brush, so that it hangs freely in the acetone. Leave for 10 to 20 minutes and clean the brush in clean liquid. The acetone will act like a shampoo and the liquid as the conditioner. When gel is cured in the brush the brush can not be safed and needs to be replaced. When not working with the click on brushes they are hanging with the hair facing down this prevents the liquid from getting in contact with the metal ferrule.

Choosing the correct file As a rule the lower the grit count the coarser the file and the bigger the actual grit sand is. As a result the file will make deeper scratches that are quite difficult to remove. We advise to sculpt with the brush not with the file to prevent service break- down. The molecular structure of the artificial nail can be jeopardized when too much pressure is applied during the filing process. The paper of the file influences the coarseness of the file. The long lasting files are made of Japanese paper that ensures a long life span but as a result can feel coarser then a normal file. The design of the file is a very personal preference but some guidelines are:around the cuticle the boomerang or boomerang special files are most commonly preferred. The rounded side makes precision work around the cuticle easier. The straight files and XXL files are traditionally used for surface filling and movements when the file follows a straight line.

ELECTRIC FILES & BITS The use of the electrical file will help the nail technicians to alleviate excess tension in the muscles preventing RSI symptoms. Proper use of the machine is taught in the Magnetic Nail Academy classes. You can only have complete control when you have been properly trained.
Practical tips when working with the electrical file: • Hold the hand piece loosely in your hand, do not hold it overly tense as this can lead to RSI. • Because the electric file creates very fine dust particles you have to protect yourself with a dust mask and safety glasses. • Do not wear loose clothing and put your hair in a pony tail, this will help to prevent the file from getting stuck in your hair or clothing. • When using the electric file we strongly recommend good ventilation built into your table. • Properly support the hand that holds the file during work.

Airbrush Airbrush is like graffiti, a spray technique. With the use of an air pressure gun you can spray many different color nuances and designs on a nail. When creating a design one or more templates are used from playful prints to sharp straight lines, anything is possible. By making use of shadows effects you can make a broad nail look narrower and create depth in your designs. If you are led by creativity then with the airbrush you can vary endlessly. The technique To airbrush a special gun is needed which is attached to a small air compressor. The high pigmented paint is dripped into the gun and is then sprayed finely upon the nail, the longer you spray the deeper the color. Airbrush is not difficult it just requires some practice. Therefore we advise to do the Airbrush Course at the Magnetic Nail Academy. This way you learn all the tricks of the trade regarding the airbrush and how to maintain your airbrush so that you have long lasting pleasure of your investment.

Choosing the right gel Choosing the right gel from our extensive range is mostly influenced by the desired viscosity of the gel. The lower the viscosity the thinner the gel is, the higher the viscosity the thicker the gel feels during the application. There are different influences that affect the viscosity of the gel. The composition of the gel: Longer chains of bigger molecules give the gel a thicker feel, making the gels ideal for extending the nail on forms or building the apex of the nail. The structure of the Builder Gel gives a medium level of flexibility creating a strong and hard nail. Like the UV Standard Gel this gel is an all in one gel that can be used as an adhesion layer, to build the nail with and it can be buffed to a mirror like shine. The Sheer: Sheer is the amount of force with the brush that is put on the product before curing in the UV light. Normally the more you work with the gel the thinner the gel becomes. When the technician stops working the gel, the gel gets back to its original state and thickness. This is especially helpful when it is very cold and the gels has difficulty self-leveling.

The temperature: The temperature in the salon greatly influences both the workability of the gel and the life span of the gel. As a rule, the warmer the salon, the thinner the gel feels. In these surroundings it is very important to remember the effects of the Sheer, to prevent having the gel turn too thin. Likewise in a very cold salon environment the gel will feel overly thick and difficult to work with. We strongly recommend an even salon temperature and storing your gels in a cool, dark place. Big differences in temperature and direct sunlight exposure can affect the gels.

The Sculpting gels are great to make Pink and White nails on forms, due to the intense pigmentation and the stronger structure. The Sculpting gels have a great pinch ability ensuring an even c-curve. The Sculpting Gel White is the first choice for the extension edge and to make sharp pure white smile lines. Because of the high level of pigmentation we recommend not to apply the gel too thick, to prevent under curing. The Sculpting gel Pink cures in 2 minutes, the Sculpting White gel needs 2-3 minutes to cure. Sculpting gel is available in three shades: Pink, White and Super White.
The Flash Gels offer unparalleled choice to technicians because of it’s two different types; thin and thick and is the bestselling formula. The Thin Flash Gel has a higher viscosity than the UV Standard Builder Gel. The Flash Gels create very flexible nails that can be applied in one layer and the gel is highly suitable to make longer nails. The difference in viscosity between the two versions is only noticeable when working with the gel, the gel is self leveling and is extremely easy in use. The choice for the Top Gel is influenced by the product underneath. The more flexibel the Gel nail is, the more flexible the Top Gel has to be. All of the Magnetic Top Gels give a superior shine to the finished nails and protect the nails from solvents and nail chemicals. Supreme Finish
This Top Gel is the most flexible Top Gel in the Magnetic range and has the most different usages. The Ultra Top Gel can be used over nail polish, when the polish is completely dried, can be used over nail art to seal the various elements and can be used on the natural nail for an even and sharp application at the cuticle area. It is important that the Ultra Top Gel is applied evenly over the nail in a thin layer to prevent shrinkage. If the Top Gel has been applied too thin the surface can appear uneven, to solve this apply a second layer. The Ultra Top Gel has to be cured 4 minutes to heighten the shine. When you find that the surface of the Ultra Top Gel is dull this is a first sign that you need to replace the UV bulbs of the lamp.
In the Soak-Off range of gels we recommend to use the Soak Off Top Gel, as this Top Gel is soak-able in acetone. The Soak Off Top Gel is very flexible and as such useable on all our traditional gels. The main benefit is that the Soak Off Top Gel comes in a nail polish bottle with it’s own brush ensuring an even and easy application with a high shine.
The highest shine with the easiest application… Supreme Finish offers it all. Supreme Finish cures in two minutes to a super high shine without a sticky layer. It is made to be used on gel, acrylics and fiberglass but do not touch the natural nail to prevent lifting. Gelpolish Bond ensures adhesion on all nail surfaces both natural and artificial. This non acidic priming agent should be applied as a thin coat over the entire nail surface, the Gelpolish Bond does not dry completely but remains slightly tacky. The unique formula adheres to the proteins of the natural nail for the most resistant strong adhesion.
These remover wraps can be wrapped easily around fingers or toes because of the aluminum foil to which the pad is attached. Moisturize the pad with pure acetone by using a dropper. Wrap around the finger with the moisturized part against the nail. Within 15 minutes the product will be dissolved from the nail. Can also be used for Soak-Off gels and Acrylics.

Nail Plate Extenders When beauty needs to be created!
Jelena Relic, International Magnetic Trainer and Magnetic Ambassador representing the Balkan area, has been flown in for this specific Step by Step. Jelena has worked with Magnetic since 2003 and started out as an instructor. “I was trained in gel by Mey at the time, and have been developing this skill ever since. I like gel so much because it is relatively easy to apply and because it’s a technique that is not difficult to teach. Furthermore, it has endless possiblities once you know the product well. For the past three years now, I have been working both as an Ambassador for Magnetic in the Balkan and as an International Trainer for the Magnetic Certification Program”. This newly developed Super White Sculpting Gel is definitely one of my favourites. This extremely white gel is especially suitable to sculpt with, creating a very clear and sharp smile line. Due to the gel’s high viscosity it is really easy to apply on nail forms and tips, which of course makes this a popular ‘must-have’ for any gel-specialist.

Prepare your nails as usual. Make sure you do this thoroughly so the gel will adhere properly. Clean the nail, softly push the cuticles back and remove any excess skin from the nail plate. File the nail short and then remove the shine of the natural nail. Remove all the dust and clean the nail plate again. Then place the Magnetic Salon nail form under the free edge of the natural nail.
When you place the form in the correct manner, it will create a deep c-curve. Open the form on top and then lightly apply pressure on the side of the form, which will cause the c-curve to become a bit deeper than usual. This is especially important when working with gel.
Create the shape of the nail with a thin layer of Standard Builder Gel Clear, using the flat gel brush No. 6. Then shortly cure the nails in the UV lamp.
Now pinch the nails by applying pressure with the tweezers. Use a gel clamp in order to keep the product in shape during the curing process. Cure the nail under the UV lamp for about 2 -3 minutes.
Choose a suitable color Nail Plate Extender based on the skin color of your client and apply it with a Click On Oval brush. Cure for 2 minutes.
Jelena now applies Sculpting Gel Pink at the cuticle so that there will be no visible line between the enhancement and natural nail. Cure for 2 minutes.
Wipe off the sticky residue with a nail wipe and finsishing wipe.
Jelena files the smile line, using an Emery Board 100/180, which makes the smile line smooth and perfect. Remove dust from the nail with a nail wipe and Nail Cleanser.
Apply the Super White Sculpting Gel to the free edge with a slightly smaller brush, like the Premium Gel No. 4 or a small oval gel brush, so you can work very precisely. With a strongly pigmented gel like this one, you have to make sure to only apply a thin layer to guarant complete cure.
Be careful when applying the Super White Sculpting Gel to the smile line. You can use a small nail art brush for the corners of the smile line. Cure for 3 minutes . Apply a second layer of Super White Sculpting Gel and make sure that the two layers will be equal to the nail plate Extender Gel. Cure nails for 30 – 40 seconds.
Pinch the nails, using the Gel Clamp on the nail, and allow the nail to cure under the UV lamp for 3 minutes.
Use a Smooth Operator to remove any deep scratches. Then make the nail dust-free and wipe it with the Nail Wipe and Nail Cleanser. Make sure the nail is completely dust-free before applying the last layer of gel.
Now apply a thin layer of Supreme Finish and cure the nail for 2 minutes. You can also use Top Gel as the finishing touch, in which case you need to cure the nail for 4 minutes

Ultra White Gel This white polish-on gel is slightly softer in color than the Extreme White Gel and gives a more natural look to the French Manicure. The Ultra White Gel is not suitable for use on Fiberglass nails and acrylics only on gel nails. Always seal the Ultra White Gel with Top Gel. The curing time is 2-3 minutes. Ultra White Gel is available in jars of 15 and 30gr.

Step by Step
Prepare the nails as usual and remove the shine. Use Nail Cleanser to ensure proper adhesion of the product. Place the Competition Nail Form.
Use Ultimate+ very dry, in a 1:1 ratio. You will see dry powder particles on the bead of the product, this is the correct ratio.
Use Camouflage Cool Powder to elongate the nail plate and form the smile line. Cure for 1 minute in the UV Lamp.
Pinch the correct c-curve in the nail using the Gel Clamps and cure for the complete 2 minutes.
Apply UV Powder White on the form and cure for 3 minutes.
Use UV Powder Clear to make a smooth transition between the nail bed and the free edge. Cure for 2 minutes.
When UV Acrylics are completely cured there is a thin inhibition layer on the surface of the nail, this should be filed of. This is uncured residual product. File the nails following the Magnetic Filing Method.
Seal the nails with Supreme Finish, cure for 2 minutes in the UV Lamp. When so desired you can seal with Top Gel but this needs to be cured for 4 minutes in the UV Lamp.

Color Drops offers endless possibilities for the creative nail artists. Mix a few drops in your acrylic liquid until you get the desired intensity of color.
For this glass nail with Color Drops Pepyn used crumbled patterned nail art foil 177044. The more wrinkels the more dramatic the effect later is.
Cut the patterned nail art foil into the correct shape and apply on top of the nail form. Place the nail form and check if the transition from the natural nail to the nail form is smooth.
Pepyn used camouflage warm pink to extend the nail bed. Fade the camouflage towards the cuticle to create a invisible transition.
By using Clear Powder, the extended part of the nail will be clear and colored. Attention: when using color drops we recommend you to rinse your brush thoroughly in clean liquid to remove the color. We advise you to work with 2 brushes.
Seal the nail using a clear powder. Use regular blush pink on the nail bed. Pinch the desired C-curve for optimal strength
Carefully remove the patterned nail art foil and finish the nail like you used to. Create a high shine using supreme finish.
The result: a beautiful nail with a lot of effect and less effort. Tip! Apply supreme finish on the bottom of the extension edge for optimal transparency.

Beautyful transparant Kateryna prefers to work on long stiletto nails. She extended the nail bed and places the design in a way that the outgrowth is less visible. She files the top of the nail in shape and equally and then applies a Magnetic Stiletto Nail Form (step 01). The extended part is made with a thin layer of Crystal Clear Prestige (step 02). Katerina extends the nail bed using Camouflage and Opaque Pink (step 03). When the acrylic has cured a little, she softly pinches the nail using a tweezers to create a slim and strong nail (step 04). After that she applies a purple: Eivissa Purple from the Ibiza Nights Pro-Formula collection by the nail bed. Next to this color Kateryna applies an aqua color (step 05). She works very thin and blends these colors with a fading technique towards the tip of the nail. The third color is a glitter layer for the special effect (step 06). To make an extra strong nail she finished the nail with a layer of Prestige Crystal Clear (step 07).

The talented Kateryna from Kiev is just 25 and has been working five years as a nail technician. She took her training and specialized her nail art skills and techniques at Natalia Yakubchuk. In 2008 she won the national competition in Ukraine in the Nail Art Division. In several other competitions, she placed second. Her fabulous contribution to the Magnetic Tip Box Competition 2011 gave her the Tip Box Award. As a trainer and judge, she was closely involved in European and Ukrainian competitions. International she is known of demos at shows and seminars. On regular bases she is giving trainings including for the Magnetic Nail Academy. Kateryna’s favorite technique is hand painted nail art. But she can also create fantastic designs using gel and acrylics. In fact she loves all Nail Art techniques.

Kateryna Gonchar from Ukraine is becoming a popular nail art trainer. She is master in all nail art techniques and creates beautiful designer nails. In this step by step she used the Pro-Formula Ibiza Nights collection and created a sparkling stiletto nail with blue and purple shades. The nail art is made with flowers and because of the glitters it looks like you can see the reflection of the Mediterranean sea.
Pinch the nail again into shape (step 08). Use the Boomerang 100/180 to file the nail razor sharp and in correct shape (step 09). The base of the nail is ready after removing the dust. Use white nail art paint and the smallest size of the Detailer brushes to draw the small circles and flowers (step 10 & 11). Leave the petals open and only draw some small lines. Create the heart of the flower using yellow, lime and with dots. At last she accentuates every curve with thin lines using black and white paint (step 12). The curved line on the nail bed is an extra accent on the design finished with small dots (step 13). Kateryna finishes the nail using Nail Art Sealer. Your client can easily remove the design with non acetone remover. After removing use a new layer of top coat and the nail looks again beautiful.

The hair of a new brush is shaped with Arabic gum. This has to be removed thoroughly by rolling the brush head over a brush wipe. The hair splits when the Arabic gum is not removed completely, this damage is irreversible.

A passion for brushes… During the international distributor meeting in may 2011 the Magnetic Brush maker gave a workshop about the process when making a brush giving a glance into this fascinating and specialized profession. To ensure the quality of the brush it is needed to understand the elasticity, liquid retention, the softness of the hair and the resilience of the different kinds of hair. This helps in determining which hair should be used. Acrylic brushes are made of Sable hair, Gel and nail art brushes can be made of synthetic or real hair. The way the hair is put in the ferrule makes sure that the hair stays together even when applying pressure with the brush. From loose hair to a custom made brush... The hair arrives in bundles of hair in different lengths. The brush maker opens the bundle and takes the needed amount of hair. He weighs the hair and places it into a container. By gently tapping the container on the table surface the hair aligns. When the hair is aligned perfectly he places it into a second container, the so called ferrule. The ferrule actually brings the hair in the desired shape: flat, angular or pointed. The length of the exposed hair is determined by hand, and this is a highly specialized task. When the hair length is not accurate he needs to redo the whole process. The back of the ferrule is glued on the handle. The hair is then brushed and formed using Arabic gum to protect the brush during transport.
Quality comes at a price… All the brushes in the Magnetic assortment are hand made, only brushes that for instance are used in glue bottles are made mechanical. With the brushes made of Kolinsky Sable hair the
experience and knowledge of the brush maker is vital to ensure consistency. This explains the sometimes higher priced brushes, but the brushes can be used for a long time if they are properly taken care for.
First aid with acrylic accidents Never allow acrylic to cure in the brush. When this has happened dissolve the cured acrylic by placing the hair of the brush in pure acetone. Do not leave the brush standing on the tip of the hair but use a clothespin to elevate the brush, so that it hangs freely in the acetone. Leave for 10 to 20 minutes and clean the brush in clean liquid. The acetone will act like a shampoo and the liquid as the conditioner. When gel is cured in the brush the brush can not be safed and needs to be replaced. When not working with the click on brushes they are hanging with the hair facing down this prevents the liquid from getting in contact with the metal ferrule.

Choosing the correct file As a rule the lower the grit count the coarser the file and the bigger the actual grit sand is. As a result the file will make deeper scratches that are quite difficult to remove. We advise to sculpt with the brush not with the file to prevent service break- down. The molecular structure of the artificial nail can be jeopardized when too much pressure is applied during the filing process. The paper of the file influences the coarseness of the file. The long lasting files are made of Japanese paper that ensures a long life span but as a result can feel coarser then a normal file. The design of the file is a very personal preference but some guidelines are:around the cuticle the boomerang or boomerang special files are most commonly preferred. The rounded side makes precision work around the cuticle easier. The straight files and XXL files are traditionally used for surface filling and movements when the file follows a straight line.

ELECTRIC FILES & BITS The use of the electrical file will help the nail technicians to alleviate excess tension in the muscles preventing RSI symptoms. Proper use of the machine is taught in the Magnetic Nail Academy classes. You can only have complete control when you have been properly trained.
Practical tips when working with the electrical file: • Hold the hand piece loosely in your hand, do not hold it overly tense as this can lead to RSI. • Because the electric file creates very fine dust particles you have to protect yourself with a dust mask and safety glasses. • Do not wear loose clothing and put your hair in a pony tail, this will help to prevent the file from getting stuck in your hair or clothing. • When using the electric file we strongly recommend good ventilation built into your table. • Properly support the hand that holds the file during work.

Airbrush Airbrush is like graffiti, a spray technique. With the use of an air pressure gun you can spray many different color nuances and designs on a nail. When creating a design one or more templates are used from playful prints to sharp straight lines, anything is possible. By making use of shadows effects you can make a broad nail look narrower and create depth in your designs. If you are led by creativity then with the airbrush you can vary endlessly. The technique To airbrush a special gun is needed which is attached to a small air compressor. The high pigmented paint is dripped into the gun and is then sprayed finely upon the nail, the longer you spray the deeper the color. Airbrush is not difficult it just requires some practice. Therefore we advise to do the Airbrush Course at the Magnetic Nail Academy. This way you learn all the tricks of the trade regarding the airbrush and how to maintain your airbrush so that you have long lasting pleasure of your investment.
