St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church May 29, 2011 ~ 6th Sunday of Easter

Dear Parents, St. Francis Xavier School is planning for the 2011/2012 school year and years to come. As you know, presently our Preschool program holds four different sessions: two morning sessions (MWF and TTh) and two afternoon sessions (MWF and TTh). We are in the exploration phase of possibly adding an extended daycare option for students enrolled in St. Francis Xavier Preschool, which would provide care for preschool children (age 3 by September 1st) from early morning through late afternoon during the school year. We have had some inquiries into this type of option, but need some additional input to determine the needs of the entire school and parish community we serve. Some things included in this investigative phase are determination of staffing, space, equipment, food (meals and snacks) and health/dietary needs. Please take some time to answer the following questions, and return this short survey by Wednesday, June 1st to the school office. Thank you for your participation. We are looking forward to hearing from you! Kim Zumbusch, Principal

What type of program would work best for your family? (check one) 1. The current part day preschool option (2 ½ hours per day) works best.

___________

2. All day child care (in addition to preschool) would work best.

___________

If so, please indicate the drop off and pick up times that would best meet your needs. ________________________________________________________ 3. If not looking for an all day option, would additional hours work best to meet your needs? If so, please indicate the range of time and days of the week that would work best? ___________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________ 4. What are you willing to pay for this service? ___________________________________________

Other comments that would help us as we continue this exploration phase: _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your School News

A couple of months ago, the St. Paul Seminary asked if we would be willing to host a seminarian for the summer. Because you all have treated Marcus and TJ so well, they feel comfortable sending another seminarian out here. All I know about the seminarian that will be with us is that his name is Joseph and he is from Uganda. He has just completed his first year of study and will be entering Theology II in the fall. Joseph will be with us from June 1 until August 15.

“Nurturing Faith; Engaging Minds”

During the summer, Joseph will be able to get another experience of parish life. I will try my best to help him get a taste of the many different things that happen in the parish. I also need your help. I would like for many of you to invite him to your home for dinner. I believe you and your family will be blessed to hear about Joseph and his call and his life in Uganda. We are fortunate that the seminary has entrusted our parish in the formation of Joseph. It is a testament to your faithfulness and your love for the Church. If you see Joseph, please welcome him. I know he will be overwhelmed by your graciousness and hospitality. Regarding the church addition, it is taking longer than expected to get the building permit. Don’t worry though. This project will begin soon!! You may have also noticed also that we are having a raffle for a motorcycle. A very generous parishioner has donated this to the parish. The committee responsible for the raffle asked me if we could designate the funds for a specific purpose in the parish. After some thought, it was discussed that using the funds for an updated heating system in the church would be a worthy cause. Currently, our boiler is very old and we hope every year that it will make it through the winter. One of the problems with the boiler is that it is not very efficient. It is using technology from decades ago which when you compare with technology today, it is obvious that we could save money with a new heating system. Another problem is that we don’t have any control in terms of setting the temperature in the church. The boiler is either on or off. On those warm winter days, the church gets really hot. On those very cold winter days, the church has a hard time remaining warm.

Please join us for the Perfect Prayer, Mass each Wednesday

They were also surprised to hear about the myths and the untold truths about abortion. Because so many women are post abortive we learned how important it is to offer prayers and compassion to those around us that maybe affected by this difficulty. Later that evening, they enjoyed playing various games and sitting around a campfire laughing and telling stories. Be sure to watch the bulletin or the parish website for the June Active event coming soon!
