Active Aging Programming Spectrum Highly Active Goals
Clients will
• Maintain or improve fitness level
• Have full mobility
• Manage weight
• Participate in a variety of activities
• Maintain or increase muscle mass • Provide options if managing osteoarthritis, diabetes, etc.
Exercise Programming Group-based, standing, multi-dimensional (or multi-planar) and mat-based movements, using a variety of strengthening, flexibility or balance equipment, props to facilitate a variety of styles.
• Engage in one-on-one and group exercise • Work with a physical therapist or a fitness professional
Some Activity Goals
Clients will
• Maintain functional ability
• Have general mobility, but may require modifications
• Improve balance and coordination • Slow the decrease in muscle mass and build or maintain strength, flexibility, range of motion, etc.
• Participate in some activities
Exercise Programming
• Work with a physical therapist, medical practitioner or a fitness professional
Functional movements like sit-to-stand, walking mechanics, and reaching activities, using a variety of props and movement ranges.
• Engage in limited group fitness or one-on-one training
Limited Mobility & Activity Goals
Clients will
• Improve ability to perform activities of daily living and general physical function
• Have limited mobility
• Deal with conditions like osteoporosis and arthritis among others
• Participate in little or no physical activity
Exercise Programming Movements to improve functional ability, including seated and standing activities, using props for support, light resistance, balance and coordination.
• Require ongoing assistance
• May work with a physical therapist, medical practitioner or other movement specialist
