Ken Bosley’s parents — Hugh “Pappy” and Catherine Bosley — bought MOONLITE, a 14-year-old barbecue joint with 30 seats, from Sonnie and Sadie Bertram and J.C. and Better Stinson in 1963. Since then, Moonlite has served such celebrities as former President Bill Clinton, former second lady Marylin Quayle, Kevin Costner and more. The buffet is this eatery’s claim to fame, and there’s also an extensive catering department and carryout options.

OLD HICKORY has been offering delicious, award-winning, familyrecipe barbecue for more than 100 years in Owensboro. What sets them apart? Old Hickory has never had a buffet in the 102 years since Charles Foreman began barbecuing in his blacksmith shop at the corner of Frederica Street and Washington Avenue. The restaurant has been featured on a number of cable cooking and travel shows and has made several “best” barbecue lists.

Greg Floyd left the automobile industry and bought OLE SOUTH BARBECUE in 2013 for a change of careers. The restaurant, which opened in 1995 and is the city’s newest barbecure restaurant, is touted as Owensboro’s “best kept barbecue secret” and offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet seven days a week, as well as carryout.
