Welcome to Owensboro!

H

ome to a small-town vibe with big-city attractions, Owensboro is the best of the both worlds. From the award-winning Smother’s Park to a professional basketball team, there is something for everyone in the city of Owensboro. Locally owned markets and shops line downtown with welcoming atmospheres, and some of the finest dining can be found all across town. Known for its many festivals, Owensboro will kick off summer with the 40th annual International Bar-B-Q Festival. Throughout the summer, Friday After 5, a 16-week concert series, is returning for its 22nd season, with even more music and entertainment than ever before. The event is also a huge hit for class pre-unions, bachelorette parties and birthdays. Another of Owensboro’s main attractions is the annual ROMP: Bluegrass Roots & Branches Festival, held each year at the end of June at Yellow Creek Park. The festival attracts artists ranging from traditional to progressive bluegrass and other similar styles. ROMP headliners this year include Alison Krauss,

Ricky Skaggs, Sam Bush, Rhiannon Giddens, Leftover Salmon and The Travelin’ McCourys. There is also the Big O Music Fest and lots of other chances to hear local and national musicians. Art and dance studios, local boutiques, family-owned restaurants and more are awaiting you in Owensboro. Please use the information provided in this guide — which is compiled from calendars from the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city of Owensboro, the Owensboro Convention Center and websites of local organizations — to help you make your stay more enjoyable. If you need information not furnished in this guide, please contact the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 270-926-1100.
