OCTC to sponsor October 1 Rooster Booster Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the sixteen colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. OCTC is a comprehensive community and technical college that values innovation, is focused on student learning, and is responsive to economic trends. OCTC has about 4,000 students from Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean counties in Kentucky. OCTC’s Common Read program, featuring a single book selection applied across multiple disciplines, is nationally recognized for its rigor and is supported in part by an NEH endowment. Students are attracted by innovative “work and learn” model programs such as GO FAME, GO Careers, and GO Females. Additional programs tailored to the adult
learner include TechX: Multi-craft Technician and FastTrack programs in Automotive and Construction. New additions include Robotics, Industrial Networking, and a Fiber Optics certificate is coming soon. OCTC’s Workforce Solutions works with business and industry partners on training, testing, and developing customized programs to meet industry-specific needs. In addition, Workforce Solutions’ SkillTrain offers GED prep, English language, and citizenship classes. OCTC’s Discover College is the umbrella of options for secondary students. These include dual credit courses online, on-campus, and OCTC courses taught at the high school. Early College students attend classes on campus at OCTC full-time during their junior and senior years of high school.
