We

The Webster City area is known for its rich history and pride in its heritage. Our Kendall Young Library, the beautiful architecture and significance as part of Kendall Young’s lasting legacy make it a Webster City landmark. A must see for any Webster City visitor, along with the historic home he shared with his wife, the Jane Young House, next to the now twice-expanded library.

As we lean into 2023, the Webster City area has a lot to look forward to. Iowa’s new tourism initiatives highlight our regions lakes and land. Of course, Briggs Woods Park and Little Wall Lake are treasured recreational areas of the Webster City area, whether you’re admiring the park waterfalls, spending the afternoon kayaking or canoeing on the lake, or just relaxing at the beach. Our campground amenities

make any length of stay possible at the parks. The connection the Boone River Trail provides to Webster City from Briggs Woods Park also makes a great extension of the recreational area for walkers, joggers, and bicyclers.

As you browse through our guide, find all the destinations to make a daytrip, weekend, or afternoon in the Webster City Area. This year our local theater will be performing The Sound of Music in July. Our community has let us know they’re looking forward to the return of Webster City Market Nights on Thursday evenings in June, July, & August will have even more experiences to offer!

We look forward to seeing you at any one of our area’s amenities and recreational areas. Take care and we invite you to explore our lakes and lands!

to Keep Kids Busy in Webster City.

Hike the Briggs Woods recreation trail system: bring the stroller and enjoy a scenic hike where you can see wildlife, water, and burn some energy.

Splish and splash in the outdoor Webster City pool in the summer or the indoor pool at Fuller Hall.

Lions Stafford Park has lots of fun equipment for the youngsters. They can practice some balance and there are musical features to some of the equipment pieces! They even had a wheelchair swing!

Exercise the kids and the dogs at Sketchley’s dog park

Engage their minds and imagination at Kendall Young Library. Downstairs is where all the fun activities for our youth are located. Their website is always up to date with activities!

At East and West Twin Parks you can explore large art displays and play on the equipment. They also have outdoor workout equipment you can utilize while watching the kids play.

Load up the bike and grab a picnic lunch and enjoy the 6-mile Boone River Trail

Need a shorter stroll? Then we recommend the Brewer Creek Trail which is a 2-mile loop that is scenic and easily accessible.

End the day with a night at the movies at the Webster Theater or if you are lucky check out the community theater because a great live play or musical with local talent might be happening!

Lions Stafford Park is a beautiful neighborhood park located on the west end of Webster City. This park includes a large green space for play, an inclusive playground, two swing set bays, a wheelchair accessible swing and a small basketball court.

TILL. MILL. DISTILL. Wildcat Distilling Co.

Welcome

On the family farm near Duncombe, we grew up playing around a natural sandstone formation, "Wildcat Cave," deep in the timber. Known as a den for bobcats & mountain lions, the cave also serves as a source for amazing local lore. Hearing stories of the speakeasy that once stood on top and how Bonnie & Clyde once hid there captured our imaginations. Whether or not the stories are true, one thing has always been clear, wildcats, whiskey & our land are tied. Thus came the idea for Wildcat Distilling, Co., where we fulfill our mission to honor the past while creating a New Iowa Legend with our Till, Mill, and Distill philosophy. We grow as many of our ingredients as we can right on our farm, mill it onsite, and distill it there as well. Even our cattle benefit from the spent mash, or "Spicy Corn" as we lovingly call it.

We believe that being genuine in what we do is what defines a great whiskey experience, and we think our customers appreciate that, too. Try a drink to taste the purity of our process, grown

from these local farm fields. From our farm, to your glass.

If you’d like to learn more about our whiskies and distilling techniques used to create the different flavors that make them unique, get your tickets to our Guided Whiskey Tastings.

FREEDOM ROCK

Hamilton County Freedom Rock is the 66th one painted.

With a theme of “Generations of Service in Hamilton County,” the Hamilton County Freedom Rock depicts uniformed male and female service members from a variety of eras.

FREEDOM ROCK

There was a Tuskegee airman born in Webster City, so we included that,” said Sorensen as he put finishing details on the picture of a WW II Women’s Air Corps member. “I can’t include every branch of service on every rock, but I hope that every race and gender are represented somewhere on a rock in the state.” The rock in Stratford, which the artist, Ray “Bubba” Sorensen, estimates to weigh 25 to 30 tons, rests on a custom-made stand on a corner lot of Shakespeare Avenue.

HAMILTON COUNTY FAIR

Iowa County Fairs host a wide variety of events and entertainment to choose from, like carnival rides, animals, fair foods, and concerts of all kind, but Hamilton County isn’t your typical county fair. Not every county fair has had nuptials become the main event of their fair schedule.

The main event of the 1895 Hamilton County Fair, was the Reverend Robins officiating the marriage of Eleanor Crane and George Dingman in front of thousands of fair goers. While you won’t find nuptials being performed during the Hamilton County Fair today, you will find many worthwhile, and family friendly events to partake in.

The wedding bells won’t be ringing, but there will be events at the large animal show rings where 4-H and FFA students showcase the hard work they’ve put into their animals. If animals aren’t your speed, then head over to the Hamilton County Speedway to watch stock car competitions. The Fair Queen competition is also a popular event where local entrants are judged on their personality, attitude, leadership, citizenship, contribution to community, overall appearance, charm, and poise.

Whatever your interests, Hamilton County Fair, taking place from July 25th to the 30th, is the place to be.

Whatever your interests, Hamilton County Fair, taking place from July 25th to the 30th, is the place to be.

If you’ve got a need for speed, the Karl Chevrolet Buick GMC Hamilton County Speedway, the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa, is the next stop on your Webster City visit. This ½ mile, semi-banked oval dirt track is open April to October and is a nod to the strong history of racing that has been embedded in the community since before the invention of auto racing.

Racing in Hamilton County and, more specifically, Webster City, has been going strong for well over 100 years, with reports of horse racing in Webster City going back to the beginning of 1883. The interest turned to auto racing around 1910 with the

first reported track race in Webster City taking place on July 5,1910. The track as we know it today was completed in the spring of 1939 with the first races on that track beginning in September of that same year.

Whether racing horses in 1883 or auto racing today, the Hamilton County Speedway hosts a wide range of events for the whole family. Some of these events include the Kids Bike Give Away, Cornhole Tourneys, BBQ Cook Offs, Dirt Truck races and more. The need for speed is real in Hamilton County.

WCCT seasons feature comedies, dramas, musicals, youth shows and holiday plays. Included in the 2023-2024 season are “Diary of Anne Frank,” “Clue on Stage,” and “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” Check our website and like us on Facebook for updates.

Most months find the group meeting for Readers Theatre to peruse a variety of scripts. WCCT is a proud member of the Chamber, IACT, and AACT.

Also we offer gift certificates, costume rentals and we have a scholarship program.

Casting our Story...

The story of Seneca Foundry reaches back more than 100-years. Early products manufactured include several styles of feeding troughs for hogs, cattle, and poultry; drinking pans for stock fountains; and even an early version of hospital bed frames. Today we bring iron to life for many people and a vast variety of industries. Some products you may recognize today are cast iron components on weight lifting benches in top collegiate weight rooms across the U.S., brackets for basketball hoops, and cast iron components used to manufacture fifth wheel hitches and slideouts on RV’s.

Although much has changed over 100-years, we hold true to our core values of putting the customer first with dedicated, committed service; doing the right thing; team building; continuous improvement; and treating everyone with fairness and respect.

We are a proud member and supporter of our community, and always looking for new team members! As a recipient of the Des Moines Register’s Top Work Places, we offer competitive wages and a generous benefit package. Call 515-832-1722 or check out our website to learn more.
