New Football, Track & Field, and Lacrosse Facility
The new three-story Football, Track & Field, and Lacrosse Facility will be a symbol of the University’s pride in Monarch athletics and its commitment to their success.
FOOTBALL, TRACK & FIELD, AND LACROSSE FACILITY The gateway to the stadium
The new, three-story Center, along with other planned stadium improvements, will create a University centerpiece and transform the current stadium into a signature facility. The new stadium will be more than a place to watch Monarch student athletes compete against rivals in football, track and field, and lacrosse; it will be a visible symbol of the University’s pride in Monarch athletics and its commitment to their success. The first floor of the 1,850-square-foot Center will function as the gateway to the stadium. Spectators will walk through a short breezeway before stepping onto a patio built along the top of the stadium seats. A permanent ticket box, concessions, and stadium-sized restroom facilities will also be located on the first floor. The entire length of the second floor will be a special reception room, complete with a small kitchen. This reception area can be used as an enclosed, air-conditioned, VIP box at athletic events; a showcase spot for visiting prospective student athletes; or for regular meetings against a spectacular backdrop, an elevated view of the 50-yard line. Guests can also walk out from the second floor directly onto a terrace overlooking the field. A new press box and rooms for home and away coaches will be located on the third floor, below a rooftop balcony for filming events. Outside, there will be additional stadium seats built on the hillside below the Center, with new, wrought iron fencing surrounding the stadium. The improvements to the stadium will give Methodist University a competitive facility in NCAA Division III athletics, with a more collegiate atmosphere on game days. For the new and returning student athletes that the football, track and field, and lacrosse programs bring to Methodist every year, the facility will add to their excitement and athletic experience.
ABOUT THE FIELD The stadium, which also serves as the playing facility for lacrosse and track and field, has been the home of Monarch Football since the program’s inception in 1989. It currently has a two-story press box, and in 1999 the University added chair-backed seating for 800 fans.
