Master of Justice Administration The MJA program is targeted toward professionals working in the criminal justice system at the local, county, or state level in North Carolina in middle management positions who want to develop their skills and careers further. The MJA provides students with a strong foundation in the administration of justice, focusing on values, and ethical principles such as truth, virtue, and justice. The MJA program is specifically geared to focus on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to effectively address complex problems and issues currently facing the criminal justice system. ◆ Hybrid course design mixes online learning with
classes held at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg, N.C., for one Friday-Sunday weekend per month for four months per term ◆ Consists of 36 credit hours, a total of 12 courses ◆ Full-time students attend three 15-week terms each year, taking two classes per term ◆ Part-time enrollment available, taking one class per term

Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies The MMS in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies is geared toward preparing individuals who will be health care professionals licensed to practice medicine with physician supervision. As one of several accredited programs in N.C., the MU PA Program is one of the more established programs in the state. The MU PA Program was implemented in 1996 at the bachelor’s level and transitioned to a master’s level program in 2003. The MU PA Program is a competitive program with a high number of applications for a limited number of seats. First-time pass rates on the PA National Certification Exam (PANCE) compare favorably with the national rates and 96% of the graduates are actively practicing PAs in a variety of medical settings and specialties. Well over half of the graduates practice in N.C. ◆ The PA Program is a full-time program, 27 months
(7 semesters) in length and is divided into 2 phases: didactic and clinical. ◆ State-of-the-art facilities include an anatomy lab and a medical lecture hall. ◆ Classes are only offered during the day. No part-time, evening or online track is available. The program has one start date a year, in late August.
The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation - Continued to the Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Methodist University. Continued accreditation is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Continued Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be September 2015.
