Three letters of recommendation

Evidence of earned bachelor’s degree in Education with official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended

Currently teaching. This may be waived upon permission of the Director of Master of Education Program

Recognized teaching license (candidate must have met requirements for initial license or higher before being recommended for graduate licensure)

Recommended combined GRE score of qualitative and quantitative of 1000 or MAT score at the 50th percentile. Tests must have been taken within the past 5 years

Interview with program coordinator if required by program director

Students may be provisionally accepted prior to the completion of the first nine semester hours

MASTER OF EDUCATION WITH SPECIAL EDUCATION (GENERAL CURRICULUM)

MASTER OF EDUCATION WITH   LITERACY (READING)

Cohort II will begin June 10, 2013. Students in the Master of Education Program will choose a concentration in either literacy or special education. The program is designed to be completed in two years, taking classes over four regular semesters and during two summers. During the fall and spring, the program will blend online and on-campus classes, while summer classes will be face-to-face instruction.

The 36-semester-hour program will include 18 core courses and 18 courses specific to the concentration. Upon graduation, students will have additional licensure for teaching in their concentration. Their concentration will lead to NC professional licensure in reading or special education–general curriculum. Applications for the program are currently being accepted.

Candidates may select from two concentration areas and complete 18 hours in the area of specialization: special education (general curriculum) or literacy.
