New Soccer Facility Renovation & Expansion
Students, faculty and staff will notice an increase in school spirit when they can cheer on their teams playing collegiate soccer in a lighted stadium atmosphere with fans cheering from the new green and gold stadium seating.
SOCCER FACILITY
Inspiring pride and comfort for spectators The new, covered seating area will replace the current bleacher seats, and will provide 200 permanent stadium seats, allowing spectators to watch games in comfort. Behind the seats, a patio area will stretch along the top of the stadium, dotted with Adirondack chairs and umbrella tables, adding more places to watch a game, or areas for students to socialize and study. The concession stand will also include new restrooms for the public, conveniently located on the seating side of the field, instead of across the facility in the field house. Methodist University has one of the oldest collegiate soccer programs in the southeast, and these improvements will solidify the program’s reputation and prestige as a top NCAA Division III soccer facility. The improvements will give recruiting an edge against other programs and will make our current student athletes proud to play Monarch Soccer in such a facility.
A new grandstand area that will keep spectators in shade and comfort is one of the planned improvements to the Monarch Soccer facility. The field will receive a concessions stand at the field entrance, which will also serve as a ticket office for conference and NCAA tournament games. The improvements will be rounded out with the installation of permanent lights and new fencing. The addition of lights will make night games a regular event on campus, and the soccer stadium will attract students and soccer families from the community to support the Monarchs. Students, faculty and staff will notice an increase in school spirit when they can cheer on their teams playing collegiate soccer in a lighted stadium atmosphere with fans cheering from the new green and gold stadium seating.
ABOUT THE FIELD One of the first things that many people see when entering campus is the soccer field. Built in its current location in 1989, the University added the two-story Soccer Fieldhouse in 1991, which houses the press box, coaches’ offices, and locker rooms for the men’s and women’s teams.
