See page 89 See page 82

Objective: Reduce stocks and save space The new LEANDYNAMIC system can be compared to a supermarket installed close to the production line. Delivery “Toy trains” feed small packages or containers into the of components process with minimum handling. LEANDYNAMIC eliminates wasteful conveyors, reduces the length of the production line, incorporates workstations in the main line that were previously separate, and reduces stocks along with logistics costs. The effect of all these improvements is to reduce the floor area occupied and liberate space for future expansions. Priority is given to line side productivity. Custom Return adaptation is the SESA SYSTEMS philosophy. empty bins LEANDYNAMIC has been defined by calling on our experience and combining this with a precise definition of our customers’ needs. Every aspect can be configured — width, depth, height, architecture, ergonomics, and a whole range of ancillary peripheral workstations — and it’s all down to our international expertise gained since 1990. LEANDYNAMIC is an economical, competitive system. It can be easily designed and built by the persons who will be using it at the heart of their the production environment where it must adapt to their requirements. LEANDYNAMIC limits what the Japanese call “Muda” — futile movement — by putting components and accessories within easy reach of operators. SESA SYSTEMS provides a broad range of ergonomic workstations that optimize body movements and displacements in order to focus on value creation and to improve safety and work conditions.

KANBAN CYCLE

A - GOAL Dimensionning the stocks and the on-going productions as exactly as possible, according to the real and scheduled consumption and controlling them. B - STAKES Reducing the stocks and the on-going productions • Increasing the rotation of the stocks, • Reducing the elapsed time, • Reducing the storage space, • Simplifying the production plan, in a visual and decentralised way, • Indicating the problems of the workflow C - PRINCIPLE At each process step, as soon as a customer (external and internal) consumes products, launch in the production the exact quantity ordered in order to reconstitute the stocks and maintain them at the chosen level. The kanban is particularly effective for serial production or with a great diversity. D - APPLICATION STEPS 1. Preparation • Choosing the product family you want to manage with kanban. • Determine the loop according to: - The scheduled purchase order of the customer - The product quantity per container - The stocks or the on-going production you want to dispose • Creating the kanban cards which contain generally the following informations: - Unit description and number, - The quantity taken corresponds to the container capacity, - The address or the references of the post above, - The address or the references of the post below

• Creating a kanban board on which the kanban cards returned by the customer will be displayed, • Localizing the flagging level (with the magnetic green, yellow and red bands), if the productions are organized in campaign, • Fastening one card on each container, • Positioning the remaining kanban cards on the board 2. Application Initiating the productions according to the available kanban cards. The positionning is realized on the visual board. 3. Valorisation and follow-up • Work acknowledgement • Recalculating the loop after each change: - of the scheduled customer programm - of the packaging - of the desired stock level • Conditions and implementation - recurring production - immediate reactivity of the production tool - great reliability of the process E - METHODS AND ASSOCIATED TOOLS SMED, 5S, TPM F - MAIN ACTORS Methods, Quality, Logistics, Maintenance, Production, Process.

LEANFLASH

> Universal, exible, customisable LEANFLASH FIFO is a new, original and innovating solution to ensure KANBAN control (see page 104).

NAL An INTERNATIO ed and us rd da an Kanban st e largest confirmed by th industrial groups

LEANFLASH FULZE is intended to visually structure the constitution of the batches prior to the creation of the Production Order. The magnetic or adhesive attaching makes limitless set up according to the quantities desired (see page 107).

Prohibited reproduction

LEANFLASH LANCEUR allows the Production Orders to be viewed. The originality consists in providing perfect guiding and return with the safety of the gliders provided with a clip allowing the sheet to be set in place. The colour thresholds are adjusted according to the level required in order to allow for reduced, stable and controlled stock in line as much as possible with demand (see page 106).

The LEANFLASH BOXPLAN is equipped with a setup that is very easy, fast and that has no limits. Stacking the adhesive boxes is instantaneous and meets all useful capacities (see page 113).

LEANFLASH NIVELL is a new and original idea to form, view and level out production. The operator will progressively slide the cards in the boxes according to: - time slots - different colour thresholds (green, yellow, red) (See page 112).

LEANFLASH SEQUENZ allows a visual schedule to be constructed rapidly by sequence, with instant updating via horizontal sliding of the cards (see page 109).

LEANFLASH CUMUL offers the possibility of easily combining many cards corresponding to visual production flows for multiple references in a small space (see page 111).

FIFO production tracking

Set of VSM Value Stream Mapping or MAP FLOWS Features Value Stream Mapping or VSM is an application combining all functions (with and without added value) required to transform a product from its initial state to its final stage on a production line, integrating all machines. The aim of this mapping function is to a obtain a clear and simple vision of processes. Most of the time, VSM incorporates upstream procurement and downstream delivery to clients. The final aim of Value Stream Mapping is to show lead time for the selected product. The analysis will then lead to improvements to the entire process. VSM is a fundamental tool in a Lean approach. VSM is the best means of viewing the different flows within a production process (substances and information), highlighting tasks with added value and identifying the different types of waste such as stocks and production in progress. VSM is understandable by all and can allow different people to invest in improvements to the current situation. ACCESSORIES A G A

LEANFLASH

The advantages The revolutionary and highly original LEANFLASH range is based on the use of a versatile card with unique dimensions for multi-use. The same card can be used differently for the various KANBAN follow-up, i.e.: Prohibited reproduction - FIFO (First In, First Out) - FULZE (Forming of batches) - LANCEUR (Production launching) - SEQUENZ (Sequencer) - CUMUL (Accumulator by series) - NIVELL (Levelling out production) - BOXPLAN (Scheduling) As such, these cards can become a multi-use standard for all production follow-up applications and needs in the industry.

APPLICATIONS :

The advantages The new DYNLOT system is a major innovation in the field of KANBAN management. It allows operators to visually manage their production “batchwise” by observing visual alert thresholds. The LEANFLASH DYNLOT, with a width of 900 mm/35.43 Inch or 1800 mm/70.86 Inch and magnetic attachment, is coupled with a communication board. The DYNLOT can hold several BOXCART, which are then moved manually from left to right while observing defined thresholds. These threshold definitions take the form of coloured magnetic strips (green, yellow, red). The BOXCART container, which slides in the DYNLOT track, allows a “batch” of up to 36 cards to be compiled. It also uses magnetic attachment to couple it to a workstation or communication board. The built-in card holder accepts the “batch” identification card to provide clear, fast identification. The “batch” can be put together beforehand with LEANFLASH FULZE (see page 107).

Les avantages The new GESTIME has been developed very specifically and is the perfect complement to the very broad LEANFLASH range, comprising tools dedicated to KANBAN management. The new GESTIME is a KANBAN TIME MANAGEMENT card holder used with SEQUENZ. This new feature combines two normally separate functions into one. 1 - Monitoring the operation with KANBAN card management 2 - Planning an operation according to the time it takes (Tak Time, minutes, hours, days) GESTIME is equipped with an extendable marker on a reel which is used for indicating milestones on a timescale. This time scale is shown by a magnetic label that you can customize yourself. A printed document, output from the SESA PRINT software or in Word format, represents each time scale and slips into the transparent protectiveA strip.

Prohibited reproduction

The advantages It allows you to quickly structure visual planning by sequence, and an instantaneous update using the horizontal slip of cards. This original system provides the possibility of grouping and scheduling work loads together. The LEANFLASH SEQUENZ with a length of 300 mm/11.81 Inch can be encasel.

GESTIME is laid out horizontally in multiples without limit in SEQUENZ systems. You can juxtapose GESTIME modules to visually follow a planning schedule, and with very17 easy implementation. 15 simply 16 18 19 15

Operators can then visually "manage their production" all on their own, integrating the constraints of the job environment (time, multiples references, etc.). GESTIME has unlimited applications that enable standardization of all production, maintenance, transport, after-sales, project monitoring, workflow, and other schedules.

> Visual levelling of production The advantages A new and original idea to form, view and level production. The operator will progressively slide the cards into the boxes according to:

The SESA SYSTEMS Heijunka board The SESA SYSTEMS Heijunka board can be used to smooth out data assigned to production lines by mixing up the product manufacturing order. This will stabilise and standardise the tasks. The second target of Heijunka is to produce different models along the same lines while eliminating Mudas thanks to standardised tasks. The SESA SYSTEMS Heijunka board can be used to organise production in the order required by the client. The Heijunka approach spreads and balances out production over all available resources, instead of requiring specific resources to manage peak workload based on demand.
