Andre' Leon Talley was one of the most important figures in fashion. He was a social activist who implored designers around the world to include Black models in their fashion shows, in their ads, and on the covers of magazines. He broke down racial barriers and classism within the industry with finesse all while being the premiere fashion orator of the 20th and 21st Century. No one articulated the importance of beautiful fashions like Talley. He bought a level of exuberance and excitement to the masses as he eloquently reported on the craftsmanship and innovation that were presented from top design houses. -Celebrity Stylist Ty-Ron Mayes Once again, the boys are back in town to get the news out. When I walked my first Blue Jacket Fashion Show for the Prevention and Awareness of Prostate Cancer, I presented my outfit to Andre' on the runway with great hope that he would endorse it. He lifted his cloaked arm and waved his fashionable hand of approval over me and I felt like I arrived. Being introduced by Talley on the world’s most important runway was a career milestone as I walked with a newfound purpose. Thank you, Andre’ for embracing and acknowledging me. Rest In Peace knowing that we will continue your mission of inclusivity and representation for all people in the fashion industry and beyond.
