Locating a house on the market for under $800,000 in Morgan Hill is like finding a needle in a haystack these days, and home sale prices are only on the rise, according to local real estate people. Even with the nonstop new construction at what seems like every open nook and cranny throughout town, the demand continues to far outweigh the supply in Morgan Hill and throughout South County. “This is definitely the time to sell,” said realtor Kathleen Davis with Coldwell Banker Real Estate. “(Home prices) are as high as I’ve ever seen them. You can’t really get much in Morgan Hill for under $800,000 anymore.” While it is a sellers’ market, the home buyers, with enough savings and annual income, can get “very affordable” interest rates around 4 percent for a 30-year mortgage, according to Davis. Davis, who lives in Morgan Hill and has children attending the local public schools, said homes are “snatched up and bought right away”—sometimes even above asking price— and can go into escrow in a week or less. “We have a lot of migration into South County,” added Davis, who estimated at least 80 percent of buyers are from San Jose and even farther north. “They are looking for good schools in a nice community.”

A Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury report that investigated the failure of the Catholic Diocese to annex property to build a new high school in Morgan Hill is harshly critical of the local commission tasked with processing such approvals.

But some environmental groups who have followed the high school’s annexation effort closely in recent years think the report was home-cooked with a bias in favor of the City of Morgan Hill, because the 2016-17 grand jury foreperson is a city planning commissioner. These critics also claim there are some “factual inaccuracies” in the report. The grand jury report titled “LAFCO Denials: A high school caught in the middle,” published

June 5, took an in-depth look at the city’s effort in 2016 to annex about 230 acres of agricultural land from the 1,200-acre Southeast Quadrant into Morgan Hill’s Urban Service Area. As required by state law, the Morgan Hill City Council submitted an application requesting this annexation to the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). The seven-member LAFCO commission rejected the annexation proposal on a 5-2 vote

March 11, 2016. A second motion for an alternative proposal—to annex only the 38 acres within the SEQ (at the intersection of Tennant and Murphy avenues) designated by the Diocese for a private high school—failed at the same LAFCO meeting. The grand jury report took LAFCO to task for inconsistently and subjectively enforcing its guidelines and applying undefined terminology to their annexation criteria. It also criticized the City of Morgan Hill for not including

enough public participation in the SEQ process and ineffective communication with LAFCO staff. Both agencies are responsible for the “strained relationship” between them, the grand jury report suggests.

‘Inherent bias’?

A group of private, nonprofit environmental organizations that argued against the city’s SEQ annexation proposal sent a letter to the LAFCO board ➝ LAFCO, 10

AGENDA ITEM PROMPTED BY SOBRATO STUDENT PETITION Morgan Hill Unified School District’s top official has lined up a discussion item as part of an Aug. 15 board of education meeting that will cover the high school mathematics program. The issue was prompted by one Ann Sobrato High School student’s petition demanding change within

the math department. That call to order has generated 654 supporters, accompanied by student and parent complaints regarding teachers’ math practices. It has received support and comments as recently as this week. Sobrato senior Lauren Buckley created her petition, titled “Create Change in the Math Department of Ann Sobrato High School,” on the website change.org in early May. At the June 20 board meeting, Buckley, along

with two other Sobrato classmates, demanded district leadership schedule a special meeting to discuss the matter before the start of the 2017-18 school year. Although that demand was not met, district officials have spoken with site administrators and a presentation, along with open discussion, is planned for Aug. 15. The next regularly scheduled MHUSD board of education meeting is Aug. 1 at district headquarters, 15600 Concord Circle.

Excellence in woodworking Three area high school students won some prize money and recognition by testing their wood shop skills in an inaugural competition hosted by Morgan Hill based Mission Bell. Mission Bell, a local furniture manufacturing company, hosted the Excellence in Craftsmanship contest for high school wood shop students who are interested in woodworking careers. Twenty-two students entered the contest, and the top three were chosen as prize recipients. First place Excellence in Craftsmanship winner Keefe Mcfeely of Soquel High School won $1,000 with a handmade chest of drawers; Christian Agaton of Live Oak High School won $500 for second place with a cooler on a stand; and Kevin Dysle took home the $250 third place prize with a coffee table. Live Oak and Soquel High School wood shop teachers David Ravizza and Hal Rovick were “very involved” in encouraging students to participate in the contest, according to Mission Bell Director of Human Resources Bev Stenehjem. Pictured above (left to right) are Keefe Mcfeely in front of his chest of drawers, Christian Agaton with his cooler on a stand, Mission Bell CEO Glenn Ripley and Kevin Dysle with his coffee table.

MHPD: July 3 downtown ‘fight’ was a prank NO INJURIES OR CRIME SUSPECTED Morgan Hill Police clarified via Facebook that a description of a large fight in the department’s daily activity logs, reported by a witness’ 911 call, contained incomplete information and the incident was likely staged with no injuries or malicious intentions. Police responded to the call the evening of July 3, when the witness saw

what looked like about 10 girls beating up another girl on the top floor of the downtown parking garage on East Third Street, according to the July 13 MHPD Facebook post. When police arrived at the scene, no suspects or victims were located. No one was seen running from the area, and police did not receive any reports from local hospitals regarding any suspicious injuries. The post adds that two

MHPD officers and one sergeant were already downtown for the July 3 Freedom Fest street dance, and were able to proceed to the garage “immediately” upon hearing the report of the alleged fight. But police later found out that a group of children had “staged a fight to look real and broadcast on social media,” the Facebook post adds. The closed circuit camera surveillance system within

the garage seemed to confirm that account. The surveillance video showed a group of children hanging out and playing on their phones, according to police. A girl sat down and other friends set up their mobile phones to record the scene. “Immediately following the ‘attack,’ everyone was checking one another’s phones and continuing to hang out,” the MHPD’s Facebook post continues. “No one appeared injured,

angry, upset, left the area hastily, etc.” “These kids didn’t commit a crime,” the post adds. “They didn’t waste police resources. Was it wise? Probably not, but it wasn’t criminal either.” An entry in the MHPD’s daily activity logs of the incident gave only the reporting witness’ account of what appeared to her to be a large fight with 10 girls ganging up on another, about 10:23 p.m.

The entry, titled “Disturbance,” lists a disposition of “UTL,” which is short for “Unable To Locate.” The activity log also reports the witness told police her husband was running to the scene to help. The entry doesn’t describe officers’ follow-up or the possibility that it might have been a prank. The Times published a “Police Blotter” entry based on the original MHPD activity log on July 7.

OPINION FROM THE WEB Re: ‘Homelessness on the rise in MH, county’ Cost of living here is so high. And low income housing is a joke. It's still expensive, or people aren't having to re-qualify but driving super nice vehicles. There is nothing for the homeless in this town. It's really sad. Chrissy Diaz via Facebook

I don't know very many people that can afford the rents here. They say affordable housing, but that's a joke. Kay Summers Smith via Facebook

That's where we lost our home and almost became homeless. Moved 800 miles away with what we had left, our pets and clothes. The Bay Area is doomed. Beth Lively via Facebook

Not surprised. Good weather in MH. The community has money. Low crime. James Straus via Facebook

The number is superficially and temporarily inflated by the temporary closure of Thousand Trails RV Park west of San Martin. When it reopens in September, the number of homeless in MH will dramatically reduce.

Hard to say goodbye

A

ll things must come to pass. In some cases, it’s good because you want bad things to pass, but in too many cases it’s the good things that come to pass before you’re ready to let go. Right now we have a couple good things about to pass. One is short-term and satisfied the urge to have a good time eating with friends and family mid-week. The other satisfied a never-ending need for a leader and volunteer to help make and keep the community that place we’re all proud of and want to be. The first item that will pass is the Moveable Feast. It will end July 26 after eight consecutive weeks of providing a place for the community to gather and dine at an alternative location downtown. Going to the Moveable Feast nights were a lot of fun, filled with variety and new things. Next year’s events are being considered now so we can take comfort in knowing it will likely return just as good as ever. But for now, go out and enjoy it while you can. I hope you have developed a taste for the healthy habit of taking a mid-week mental break from your own kitchen—which includes all that cleaning. No reason for that to pass now… What will be passing and not returning is the ongoing leadership and volunteer work of Kathy Sullivan (no not the Historic Society Kathy Sullivan). Kathy’s just fine, but she will be leaving us to enjoy her retirement a little closer to family in the place where she grew up, Philadelphia. Right here is where I insert the old phrase, “Her absence will create a vacuum.” There will be a void like a sinkhole that will need many volunteers to fill. Kathy was the “universal volunteer.” She was involved with so many local nonprofit organizations and community efforts that I hear her going away parties are stacked up until well after she has left. The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce recognized Sullivan this year as the Volunteer

of the Year. I don’t think there was ever a doubt that she would one day be the Volunteer of the Year, but little did we know it would be so soon. She will be honored for her work well into the future, her impact was notable and lack of presence will be noticeable across so much of the community. Another community will undoubtedly be getting a volunteer army of one. I hope they know how to utilize her well and appreciate her like we do.

We count on our leaders to make the future a better place for the majority, and Kathy Sullivan helped remind us of that Kathy was also a leader. I got to know her leadership as the practical thinking strong board member of the Morgan Hill Downtown Association. Sometimes on the leading edge of pushing to accomplish what was considered best for the downtown, she was also one who was willing to reign in an idea whose wings might have needed some clipping. A leader does that. We count on our leaders to make the future a better place for the majority, and Kathy helped remind us of that time after time. Kathy will be missed in many ways as a volunteer, leader and friend to so many. Kathy, enjoy a great long life helping another community be its best. I wonder if they have a Moveable Feast in Philly…? Re: ‘Third Street residents cry foul at downtown street closures’

The concept of this '3rd Street Mall' was a disaster since its conception by the MH City....they should have seen it coming. Having access closed off during the myriad of scheduled events to the occupants of the 5 houses is unreasonable...forget about providing transportation in/out during events. Not everyone likes 'music' or hordes of people outside their front door and accompanying litter and trampling of property, or food trucks. If these problems could not be 'resolved' before the start of construction (and obviously they were not), this Mall concept should have been scrapped...or another location should have been considered. No reasonable, compassionate person(s) would have continued with this concept...but the MH City, in their quest to make their town 'vibrant'...and at the time like "Santana Row" moved 'full steam ahead' and now these folks are stuck living in a 'situation' they hate...nice going Mayor Tate and City Council ! A good time to have scrapped this,if not at the concept stage, would have been when the original contractor failed to do the job correctly and more recently when it is going to be redone a 2nd time. “downtownertoo” via morganhilltimes.com

Re: ‘Busy night for police as 20 citations issued for illegal fireworks’

If all the individuals who bought and discharged fireworks illegally had instead donated the money to Morgan Hill's Independence Day Celebrations (IDC) organization, the funds could have been used to buy more fireworks for the public display and the whole community's enjoyment under safe, controlled conditions, instead of terrifying residents and their pets. It seemed this year's public fireworks display was a bit shorter than in 2016 and 2015. IDC has a PayPal "Donate" button on their Web site to make it easy for donors. “Tony_R” via morganhilltimes.com

Man drowns after saving children in north MH creek SAUL GARCIA ‘SHOWED NO FEAR’ IN RESCUE OF KIDS A San Jose man died after saving his son from drowning in a Coyote Creek swimming hole just north of Morgan Hill, according to authorities.

Santa Clara County Sheriff ’s deputies responded to a call reporting the incident about 2 p.m. July 16, according to Sheriff ’s Sgt. Rich Glennon. A group of children and adults were swimming in an area where Coyote Creek meets a pond on Ogier Avenue, behind the Parkway Lakes RV park.

Glennon explained the edges of the water were about knee-deep, but the depth “increases dramatically” into a moving current farther from shore. When the group of children waded into this deeper area, they had trouble staying above water and the adults responded. The father of one of

the children, a 5-year-old boy, jumped into the water fully clothed and helped the children, Glennon said. After he handed his son off to another adult, the man, later identified as 35-year-old Saul Garcia of San Jose, went underwater and did not come back up. The sheriff ’s dive team and a boat equipped with

sonar detection devices arrived on scene to search for Garcia’s body, Glennon said. They found his body about 6:20 p.m. under about 15 feet of water. Garcia’s family set up a page on gofundme.com shortly after his death, to raise money for his wife and the couple’s two young children. The page, titled

“SAUL GARCIA AND FAMILY,” says there were six children—including his own—swimming at the time Garcia and other adults noticed they were in trouble July 16. Garcia “showed no fear going into the water and saving all 6 of the children lives before the water drowned him,” the gofundme page adds.

Love me now, while I am living. Do not wait until I’m gone and then have it chiseled in marble, Sweet words on ice-cold stone. If you have tender thoughts of me, please, tell me now. LAFCO, 1 July 17 spelling out their “grave concerns” with the June 5 grand jury report. Topping their list is the “appearance of (grand jury) foreperson’s conflict of interest.” The foreman, Wayne Tanda, has been a Morgan Hill planning commissioner for several years, and was chair of the city commission in 2016. He made a motion to recommend submitting the city’s SEQ plans to LAFCO at the June 23, 2015 planning commission meeting, according to the July 17 letter signed by representatives of the Committee For Green Foothills, Greenbelt Alliance, American Farmland Trust, Thrive! Morgan Hill, Sierra Club and others. “Given Mr. Tanda’s status as a long-standing appointed member of the…Morgan Hill Planning Commission, his direct input in the SEQ and Agricultural Mitigation Program proposals, and his involvement in the SEQ decision-making process throughout the years, it is difficult not to perceive an inherent bias in the content and conclusions of this report,” the letter states. The July 17 letter also lists “misleading statements” and “exclusion of pertinent information and factual errors” as other problems with the grand jury report. For example, a vague mention of “a county official’s” support for the Catholic high school might suggest to a less informed reader that the county as an entity was supportive of the annexation plans, the letter argues. In fact, however, county staff urged the LAFCO board to reject the city’s SEQ proposal because it is inconsistent with existing land use guidelines, and it doesn’t do enough to preserve farmland. Tanda said he couldn’t say much in response to these allegations because the grand jurors are sworn to secrecy about the body’s closed-door process. But he argued that the grand jury has built-in checks and balances that prevent excessive influence by a single juror. “So what?” he said of the observation that he is a city planning commissioner who supported the plans to develop the new high school in the SEQ. “Everybody (on the grand jury) is a volunteer. The system is set

up so that nobody— not even any officer— has any more authority than anybody else. It’s designed so that everything is collaborative, everything is double-checked.” He added that the agencies investigated in the report—including LAFCO and Morgan Hill—got a chance to see it before it was published, in order to point out any potential inaccuracies. The June 5 grand jury report lists 10 “findings” and associated recommendations on how to correct or address them.

jurisdiction you come from. They were trying to say we need more South County voices (on the LAFCO board), but LAFCO commissioners represent everybody.” Also on the LAFCO board are County Supervisor Mike Wasserman (who represents South County on the board of supervisors), Santa Clara Valley Water District Director John Varela (a Morgan Hill resident and South County rep on the water board), County Supervisor Ken Yeager, Los Gatos Councilman Rob Rennie and San Jose Councilman Sergio Jimenez. LAFCO board members serve four-year terms. Hall noted that LAFCO staff is preparing a formal response to the grand jury report, which will likely be presented to the public at the board’s August meeting. LAFCO was created by the state to prevent urban sprawl and preserve agricultural lands in growing communities.

The current chair of LAFCO said one of the report’s factual errors lies in the grand jury’s argument that Morgan Hill—as one of only three cities in Santa Clara County subject to ag mitigation policies in the works—lacks adequate representation on the LAFCO board. The state law regulating LAFCO is exhaustively specific on the required composition of the commission’s board: two county supervisors, one council member from the City of San Jose, one council member from any of the other cities in the county appointed by a Cities Selection Committee, two board members from independent special districts and one public member appointed by the other members of the Council to respond LAFCO board. MORGAN HILL TIMES

Realtor: ‘Relief ’ in market not likely soon Real Estate, 1

Growth still not meeting demand

South County still catching up

Reynolds, also a Morgan Hill resident, cited the new Google campus planned in downtown San Jose as having even more impact on future home prices in nearby cities such as Morgan Hill, since it will shorten commute times. High-tech industry workers won’t have to endure two-hour treks from Morgan Hill to Mountain View or Sunnyvale anymore. “Investors are just buying stuff up. They believe it is going to push the Morgan Hill market into another threshold,” said Reynolds, noting that

home prices are already at an all-time high and “we’re not seeing any relief, any correction for probably two, three years at minimum.” And while city leaders have been pushing for so-called millennials to move into town with smaller townhome-style units closer to the downtown areas, Davis said most of her buyers are still families. “South County typically attracts more families than they do the younger (professionals),” Davis said. “People are being relocated who have kids and want to be somewhere that’s not so congested.” Morgan Hill certainly fits the bill, and, despite record high home prices, South County remains a deal. “If you took one of those houses (from the desirable Paradise Valley neighborhood) and popped it into Sunnyvale, it would be worth $1.6 million, which is almost double,” Reynolds explained. Reynolds described buyers in South County as “diverse” since she has encountered “everywhere from first-time young buyers to people over 55 cashing out and downsizing to everything in between.” However, most are from out of town or relocating from out of state for work. While the real estate business is booming in South County,

Robert Eliason

City leaders have allowed for an average of 247 homes to be built annually over the last decade. However, with Measure S now in place, the council reduced the number of homes to be built for the 2019-20 fiscal year to 195. That growth control measure caps the city’s population at 58,200 by 2035. Morgan Hill’s current population is about 44,000. Yet, still the supply has not caught up to the demand. “I am happy about the new construction that’s in town,” said Nancy Reynolds, a realtor with Sereno Group. “The nice thing about Morgan Hill is the new construction is typically really good quality, and the price-point of new construction helps elevate the price-point of re-sale homes.” The median sales price in June was $860,000, up 9.9 percent from $782,000 in June 2016 and up one tenth of 1 percent from $859,000 the previous month, according to figures from real estate database MLSListings. The average sales price in June was even higher at $916,065, up 5.4 percent from the same time last year and up 5.5 percent from $868,250 last month. Davis noted that some buyers come into town thinking

they want a recently constructed house in a new development, then soon realize the resale market provides even more of what they want. Other draws for buyers in smaller communities like Morgan Hill—as opposed to more densely populated cities in Silicon Valley—are houses on bigger plots with swimming pools and backyards, less congestion on roadways and a better quality of life with nearby lakes, parks and trails. Morgan Hill was the second fastest growing city in Santa Clara County (behind Gilroy), rising from a population of 43,484 to 44,145, according to a California Department of Finance New State Population Report.

FOR SALE New developments like these on Monterey Road can

not be built fast enough with a nonstop demand from home buyers looking to move into South County.

BY THE NUMBERS Median Morgan Hill home sales price in June 2017: $860,000 Median sales price in June 2016: $782,000 Average sales price in June 2017: $916,065 Average sales price in May 2017: $868,250

Davis doesn’t want Morgan Hill to lose its small town charm and become another San Jose. “A lot of people tell me all this development must be great for someone in my line of work,”

said Davis. “But I live here in Morgan Hill, and I don’t necessarily want to see every inch of my hometown gobbled up by development and sprawl from San Jose.”

INTO THE RING During Tuesday’s defensive practice, members of the Live Oak football team hit a rolling ring to work on tackling fundamentals.

In the final week of practice leading up the mandatory dead week, the Live Oak football team was getting after it on the field, working on both fundamentals and installing plays ahead of the 2017 season. Live Oak officially kicks off Aug. 25. The team is now in a mandatory two-week break from organized practice and the Acorns will return to action on Aug. 4. During practice on Tuesday, the team hit the defensive side of the ball, working on tackle drills, including hitting a giant circular bag. The Acorns also worked on generating power from their hips as well as footwork drills before going against an offense to close things off on Tuesday.

Ghost announces his retirement gilroy—Less than 48 hours after suffering his first knockout loss of his career, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero announced he is hanging up his boxing gloves for good. “I want to thank everyone, the fans included. I hope you guys appreciated the guts and glory I left in the ring. God bless you all,” Guerrero said in a statement. Guerrero officially brings to an end a career that spanned 16 years and featured world titles in four divisions, including the World IBF Featherweight Title twice. He finished with a record of 33 wins, 6 losses and one draw. The Gilroy native and current resident got his start at Bantamweight and

made his way up the ranks to welterweight here he ends his career. Guerrero reflected on his time in the ring fondly, acknowledging that the road over the years wasn’t always the easiest, but he made sure to always keep fighting. “A boxer’s career is a long and tough road. Many tears were shed, lots of blood, and tons of sweat. Many miles were traveled, thousands of rounds sparred, none were easy and nothing was ever given to me,” Guerrero said. “I earned everything I got the old fashion way. I never ducked anyone and fought the best fighters in the world. I fought my way through every obstacle to make sure my fans enjoyed every second, of every round, of my fights.”

And through it all, Guerrero said he never forgot where he came from. “I’m a kid from a small town in Gilroy, California, who made it to the mountain top of the boxing world,” Guerrero said. “When I was a young kid growing up, I always believed in myself, but never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined a small-town kid like myself, would be fighting in front of millions of fans.” Guerrero faced several challenges through his career, including a 2013 arrest for reportedly attempting to bring an unloaded gun onto a flight out of New York City. The gun was licensed in California authorities said at the time it still violated the city’s strict gun laws.

Changes at the head athletics positions at Sobrato and Live Oak are now official with the announcement of the new Athletic Directors for both schools. At Live Oak, Mike Gemo will become the third AD in as many school years following the 2016 stepping down of Mark Cummins. Gemo has served as the head coach football coach since 2011 after working as an assistant under Jon Michael Porras. Gemo took over as AD for Lawrence Crawford who moved over to Sobrato after Elisa Barragan officially stepped down as AD at the end of the school year. Crawford, previously at Live Oak, made the switch to head back to Sobrato, where he coached basketball until 2008.

AN UNFAMILIAR SPOT Robert Guerrero waits for the referee to reach nine before getting up following the first of five knockdowns he suffered Saturday. Guerrero, who acknowledged he made a mistake by not being aware of New York’s gun laws, eventually pled guilty to disorderly conduct

and had all gun charges dismissed. Back in 2008, Guerrero got into a legal dispute with his then ➝ Ghost, 18

Fist bump from the coach The Morgan Hill Mustang All-Stars concluded their summer at the section tournament on their home field at Britton Middle School. Morgan Hill. The Mustang boys nearly battled all the way back through the consolation bracket after an opening loss to Fremont 1, 21-8. Morgan Hill battled back with a strong 10-5 win over Blossom Valley on July 12 to advance to take on San Jose PAL 2 on July 14. There the boys got their bats going, plating 13 runs to come away with a 13-9 victory. Morgan Hill got a shot at redemption against Fremont, who had fallen in its second game of the tournament by one run and advanced to Saturday with a 9-0 win over Los Altos/Mountain View. Morgan Hill gave it a better go than the first time around, but ultimately fell 12-9. Fremont went on to play for the section championship against San Francisco, ultimately falling 12-11.

Guerrero had adversity, but kept moving forward Ghost, From page 17 promoter Goosen Tutor Promotions. Guerrero attempted to get out of his contract with Goosen Tutor in 2008 claiming he had not received some big money fights. The California State Athletic Commission ruled in Guerrero’s favor at the end of 2008, but that was overturned by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge. Although the judge ruled Guerrero was let out of his contract by the CSAC because of “corruption, fraud, or other undue means,” The Ghost still split with Goosen and opted to fight under Golden Boy Promotions because the original contract had expired. It was under Golden Boy Promotions that Guerrero got his shot at Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in 2013, suffering just his second defeat of his professional career.

Guerrero quickly rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Yoshihiro Kamegai, but Guerrero wasn’t the same fighter after that. After his win over Kamegai, Guerrero won just one more time in four matches and had lost his last three bouts. His final coming by way of technical knockout after the referee stopped the fight with Omar Figueroa in the third round. Guerrero had been knocked down five times between the second and third rounds leading to the stoppage. Guerrero thanked everyone who had helped him on his journey, including his wife Casey and his father Ruben Guerrero who also acted as his trainer. He also had a special thank-you to his advisor Al Haymon. “Not only is Al Haymon a spectacular advisor, he is a wonderful human

being as well, a great man, and someone who cares,” Guerrero said. “In a sport where most managers, promoters, and trainers turn their back on a fighter, when they no longer can perform, or are no longer beneficial to their interest, Haymon stands tall. Love and loyalty is tough to find in the boxing game, but for any boxer looking for it, you don’t have to look far, reach out to Al Haymon.” Guerrero also repeatedly thanked God in keeping with his deepseeded faith that kept him going through his career. “A good friend always told me I was God’s warrior, born to fight. I enjoyed every minute of every war,” Guerrero said. “I represented my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the bible verse Acts 2:38 on my trunks. If I reached one person and brought that person closer to Christ, then it was all worth it.”

Outlaws on the move The up-and-coming 12U South County Outlaws lacrosse team hit the home field at the 2017 West Coast Showcase. Pictured, Colby Allen attempts to elude two Santa Monica Breakers defenders during their game Saturday. Morgan Hill went 0-5, but played hard in their games, including a tight 5-4 loss to Sacramento to open play on Sunday. Goal Scorers on the weekend were Collin Fisher (2), Luke Richey (2), Ryan Forbis (2), Ben Ledwith (1), Lucas Groesser (1) and Colby Allen (1). Strong midfield play by Owen Schwalen, Ryan Bays, Connor Berlin and Jacob Wong. Top Defenders included Nolan Ledwith, Dylan Fisher and JD Rosyski. Morgan Hill had the honor of playing in the closest game of the tournament, with just three of the other 14 games being decided by two goals.

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (916) 939-0772 or visit this Internet Web site www. nationwideposting.com, using the file number assigned to this case 7791. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. 7/5/17 GOLDEN WEST FORECLOSURE SERVICE, INC.., as Trustee 611 Veterans Blvd., Suite 206 Redwood City, CA 94063-1401 (650) 369-2150 (Phone), (916) 939-0772 TRUSTEE’S SALE INFORMATION Michael D.
