Thanks to the Lakeside Green Streets project and the hard work of the Public Works department, Snow Park will once again be the home of the Oakland Running Festival! Snow Park has been extended to 14 acres of open space with new bike and pedestrian trails, rain gardens, play structures, and a picturesque view of Lake Merritt.

The Kaiser Permanente Health & Fitness Expo is open to the public and FREE of charge. The Expo is the Oakland Running Festival home base and for packet pick up. You don’t have to be participating in the event to browse all the great wares that will be on display. You will find great prices on apparel, active gear and health care products – items you can use even if you’re not a runner.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION
RACE DAY TRAVEL There is free and paid parking located throughout the city in various surface lots and garages: DOUGLAS PARKING LOTS:

BART Service does not begin until 8 AM on Sunday. The 19th Street BART station is the closest stop to the Start/Finish Line. (Price varies depending on where you board). HALF MARATHON PARTICIPANTS & ALL FANS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UTILIZE BART ON RACE DAY. Not participating in the Oakland Running Festival and need to get around town? SPECTATOR VIEWING All races start and finish at Snow Park. Watch the start, visit the activities in the Ronal McDonald House Charity Celebration Village and then find a spot at one of the many parking garages to watch the finish. The 5K circles Lake Merritt and the full and half courses use the lake for their first and last miles. With BART conveniently located along the course, fans can get to several spots on the course including Mile 2.5, Mile 15, Mile 16.5, Mile 19 and Mile 21.5. The following chart reflects the times during which runners will cross the mile marks on the marathon course.

MARCH 20, 2022 RACE DAY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE RACE DAY
If you are running the marathon, half-marathon, 10K or 5K, your timing tag is attached the back of to your bib. In order to receive an accurate time, do not remove it from the bib for any reason. Your bib must be worn on the front of your shirt. Be sure to fill out the emergency medical information on the back of your bib.

A bag check tag is included on your bib. Please attach the bag check tag to your bag prior to turning it in.
RACE MORNING
Be sure to wake up early enough on race morning so that you can drink 6 oz. of water right away. Drinking too much or too close to the start will mean more bathroom stops during the race.

Arrive early to allow for traffic and parking. OPD will begin closing streets at 7am. You will also want to allow extra time to check your bag and go to the restroom prior your start time.
COURSE INFORMATION
For your safety, only run on the street. Do not run on the sidewalks, curbs or medians unless instructed by the police. No pets, skateboards, bicycles, roller blades, baby joggers, nor any other type of wheeled device (other than pre-approved racing wheelchairs) are permitted on the course. Any clothing discarded at the start line or along the race course will not be returned. It will be collected and donated to charity. The Marathon and 10k start at the same time. 10k runners will stay straight on 12th Street and merge with Full runners at 12th and MLK. Half Marathon runners will start at 9am, full marathon runners will merge with them at mile 13.1. PLEASE BE AWARE. Please be considerate of others while on the race route. If you must walk or stop, please move to the right side of the roadway. Please also do not walk or run more than two abreast so that other runners may easily pass. If wearing headphones is part of your routine, please reduce the volume so you can be aware of your surroundings.
AFTER YOUR RACE
As you finish, DO NOT stop at the archway to stop your watch or wait for a friend. Please keep moving into the Runner Only Compound for your water & snacks as not to impede other participants or those needing medical attention. Please do not take extra food and snacks for yourself or your cheering section. Remember there will be runners who finish after you who also need to refuel after their race.
