8 PEDRO PARTY The San Benito County CattleWomen will host its annual Pedro Party fundraiser, featuring an evening of card games with friends, family and neighbors. Refreshments will be served and participants will enjoy door prizes and raffle items. The High Score winner will be awarded $100; second through fourth place winners will also receive cash prizes. MUSICAL AUDITIONS Actors ages six years through eighth grade are invited to audition for San Benito Stage Company’s production of Beauty and the Beast Jr. Auditionees should be prepared with a song and accompaniment track, wear comfortable shoes

FIRE SAFETY The San Benito Fire Safe Council will hold its Monthly Business Meeting. Fire safe councils are grassroots community-based organizations sharing the objective of making California's communities less vulnerable to wildfire. The San Benito Fire Safe Council works with the Community Foundation of San Benito County to promote fire safety. SPEECH CONTEST The American Association of University Women (AAUW) presents “Speech Trek,” the 2020 AAUW high school speech contest. Contestants will express their thoughts with a five- to six-minute speech on this year’s topic, “Are Men and Women Truly Equal Today, or are the Suffragettes of 1920 Still Suffering in 2020?” Prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. SUCCULENT PLANTING Plant a unique container garden at The GardenShoppe’s Succulent Planting Class. Succulents are a group of plants that store water in their leaves and can endure extended periods of drought. A $35 fee includes a ceramic bowl, decorative broken pottery, seven succulent plugs, sand and rocks. Additional plants, accessories and more will be available for additional cost.
