Independent businesses bring substantial bene ts to local economies compared to their chain competitors. While chain stores and chain restaurants extract locally-generated revenue from the community with each bank transaction, independents create a virtuous cycle of local spending, producing more jobs for residents, increased tax revenue for local governments, more investment in both commercial and residential districts, and enhanced support for local nonpro ts. In short, these businesses create better communities.
