Une Petite Nuit SEPTEMBER SMALL WORKS SHOW Meyer Gallery’s small works group show, Une Petite Nuit (One Small Night) celebrates small art in a big way. Now in its third year, the show features the majority of Meyer Gallery’s represented artists who are invited to participate by submitting up to three pieces of artwork 16” x 16” or smaller. Over twentyfive artists have committed to this year’s exhibition including Brian Kershisnik, Fatima Ronquillo, Santiago Michalek, Leslie Duke and more. The lively opening night of Une Petite Nuit has become an anticipated fall event with live music, small treats and many artists in attendance. The opening reception takes place on Friday, September 28th from 6-9pm during the monthly Park City Gallery Stroll. Rather than pull artwork from current inventory, artists produce fresh pieces for Une Petite Nuit, welcoming the exciting challenge of working small. A variety of mediums are typically represented in the show and many artists

take the opportunity to explore new ideas, resulting in an eclectic exhibition of unexpected artwork. “Since I don’t put any other stipulations on this show, I end up seeing works where the artists have been able to think outside of their own box,” said gallery owner Susan Meyer in a interview about Une Petit Nuit with the Park Record last year. “I can see how inspired they have been when the art comes in. For example, some landscape artists will do something totally different like a portrait painting, and honestly, that wasn’t something that I would expect.” The artist’s enthusiasm for the show ripples out into the community, making this “one small night” one of Meyer’s biggest shows of the year in terms of attendance. “The fall and spring are our quietest times on Main Street, and I originally looked for a show that we could get excited about during these times,” Meyer told the Park Record. “And I think this is it.” Meyer Gallery, owned by Susan Meyer, was established in 1965 by Darrell and Gerry Meyer. Since its foundation as one of Park City’s premier art galleries, Meyer Gallery has grown to become one of Utah’s leading contemporary art icons. Located at 305 Main Street in an 1890 Historic Landmark Building, the gallery is committed to showcasing Utah’s exciting emerging talent as well as mid-career to established artists from across the region. Gallery artists work in a variety of mediums and styles, from contemporary realism to abstraction.
