Chitgar Bridge

Meysam Taghizadeh Portfolio

The subject of the project is connection between Chitgar Forest Park zone to the “PERSIAN GULF “lake (The largest man-made lake in Iran) in the 22nd district of Tehran, where the main eastern-western highway splits apart these two zones. Project site is consisted of the southern edge of the lake, lake’s watershed and part of the forest park northern border. Our purpose is to connect the lake’s pedestrian and bicycle lane, with the park and ultimately return it to its original path at the verge of the lake. Considering the needs of the region, the potential of the existing site and the context, the design team decided to bolster and generate new potential to draw tourists’ attention in that part along with linking the two zones (Lake & Park) to attract financers, which was one of the main targets of the client. As a result, in the proposed design, the bridge is formed as section of a perfect circle. Cultural, commercial-recreational spaces, and Tehran’s first freshwater aquarium are implanted into the modules. They are radially formed under the bridge in order to provide similar view for all of the modules.

Main concept diagram: From our point of view, the proper response to this project is to locate the complex in a common area between the zones of the project›s formation area instead of a linear connection of the lake and the park, to combine the characteristics of the two parts and generate a feeling of vitality in this part of the park.

Tabriz Roof top

The competition purpose was to add an instalation to a historical university building as an exhibition hall in Tabriz, Iran. The main idea of the project tries to conceive an architecture which blends politely into the historic fabric. We decided to use materials such as brick and glass which were used in the old building with a distinctive modern facade.

Solo house, a house with a design scope of 7*20*7 meters, is considered in a hypothetical location, with a neighborhood surrounding its east and west side, with access from the south. Due to the ambiguity, such as the vague context, obscure geography and unclear users, the design strategy was based on the idea that the house should be defined in a container, not interacting with the surrounding environment, but with itself.

Following the residential typology in Iranian traditional housing style, the initial concept organizes the spaces with their public and private functionality. Circulation between levels, accessibility to the garden and the client’s scenario for the use of space are other variables to arrange thefunctions in two levels. Both visual connectivity and accessibility between the building and the garden resulted in locating the terraces and wide openings to the outside. This is meant to bring in the sense of nature and light to the inside. Two terraces were designed for both levels. The upper-level terrace is stretched alongside the south facade so users can enjoy the mesmerizing views of the fruit garden. Covering the sides of the terrace with the perforated brick wall to cover the unwanted views and disturbing local winds.

Dawning and visualizing ideas has always been a crucial stage in the design process. Through visualization, I can envision my imagination and explore different aspects of each design.
