Melbourne Realtors® Accepts Offer to Withdraw from My Florida Regional MLS (MFRMLS)
MAITLAND, FL – July 11, 2013 – My Florida Regional MLS (MFRMLS) and the Melbourne Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR) have mutually agreed to end the MLS shareholder relationship established earlier this year. The Melbourne Area Association of Realtors® (MAAR) has accepted an offer from My Florida Regional MLS (MFRMLS) to withdraw from their status as a shareholder of MFRMLS. “We are disappointed that the relationship with Melbourne as a shareholder was unsuccessful.” said Merri Jo Cowen, MFRMLS CEO. "However, the realization that this joint decision was made in the best interest of both MAAR and My Florida Regionals MLS subscribers is really what counts. Both of our organizations are focused on providing solutions that serve the needs of our members – this commonality in purpose was key in making the decision to move in different directions at this time.” Said Barbara Van Dam, 2013 MAAR President, "Our vision for a regional MLS with an advanced technology platform was forward thinking.” Regretfully, a cohesive MLS presence in Brevard County could not be achieved, accenting that the timing was not right for the move to participate in a large regional MLS. Even with the dissolution of the shareholder relationship, MAAR brokers and agents will have the ability to continue participation in MFRMLS through any of the 15 shareholder Associations/Boards that make up MFRMLS. Preservation of professionalism and respect for MAAR and our Shareholders led us to this crossroad. We hope to welcome them back some day."
