Swing Trading Tactics – That Work In the Real World

1. Title 2. Good day Traders, this is Roger Scott from Market Geeks and today we have another video tutorial for you. Today’s topic is going to be swing trading tactics that work in the real world. Before I forget, please subscribe to our channel for short video updates. 3. I was visiting one of my favorite trading forums yesterday and I noticed a heated discussion about technical indicators. In a nutshell the topic was which indicators actually work in the real world and which ones look good on paper. 4. When I do basic analysis, I typically rely on two different indicators. I use a general indicator, one that will show me if markets are trending or choppy, 5. And then once I figure out the general market sentiment I then apply specific rules or indicators to time my entry, exit and profit target. 6. One of the best examples is a moving average indicator. The moving average indicator is based on past price data. By nature the moving average is a lagging indicator. 7. If applied to a price chart the moving average will always be delayed or behind current price data. This is one of the reasons I use this indicator primarily to determine which way the markets are trending. 8. Once I figure out the market sentiment, I then use a specific set of rules or other indicators to determine actual market entry, risk levels and profit targets.

9. To determine specific market points I need an indicator that doesn’t provide lag and will give me the clearest picture of market action. There is no clearer indication of actual price movement than price itself, this is why you see many of the set ups that I use to swing trade are based on actual price movement and data. 10.Here are a few examples so you can see what I’m talking about; all are based on simple market price and without any indicators. 11.pic 12.pic 13.pic

14.There is a great book that I highly recommend for traders called Market Wizards, there is an article by a top trader who talks about indicators and compares them to eye glass lenses. He goes on to explain how different lenses will give you different views but the clearest view comes from not having a lens or having a clear lens. The same principle applies to trading, the best and the most reliable indication of market action is market action itself, so next time you see me using bar charts, it’s because I’m using the purest indicators available and price has no delay or lag. 15.I hope you enjoyed this video tutorial.
