The first ever rocket wasn’t a rocket it was a wooden replica of a pigeon. It was made in Tarentum, which is now Southern Italy, around about 400 B.C to see how a pigeon could fly. In another three hundred years a man made another rocket-type object that was propelled by steam.
The Chinese made a type of rocket that exploded after use it was called a firework. The called a firework and they made it by putting gunpowder into a stick of bamboo and throwing it in a fire to make it explode. Later they decide to attach the tubes to an arrow and stick a piece of cloth on to it and they shot the arrow into the air and lit the cloth. They also used these fireworks in wars and battles.

Soon these fireworks were used to propel objects up into the air.
