Exercise 1 Fill the box below with straight and parallel lines as directed by your teacher. DO NOT use a straight edge!

Exercise 2 Divide the box below into two. Then divide one of those boxes in two. Keep going until you can’t draw another line.

Exercise 4 Accurately sketch circles, arcs and curves in each of the following boxes, as demonstrated by your teacher.

Exercise 5 Your teacher shall demonstrate and explain what we use thick and thin lines for. Apply this knowledge to the following blocks.

Exercise 7 Your teacher shall demonstrate the different methods of rendering we use in CDT.

THINGS TO CONSIDER  how will you hold the pencil  make sure you warm up with some scribbles  make sure your pencil has a long point  how are you going to achieve neat edges  where is the light coming from  identify the lightest and darkest faces lightest

Colour pencil This technique is referred to as a stepped gradient, where each step the colour gets darker or lighter. We use this technique on flat sided models like a cube.

Exercise 8

Add shading to the following blocks. You decide where the light source is.

Exercise 10

Another rendering technique we use in CDT is referred to as a gradual gradient, or a tonal scale. Using a tonal scale, a colour starts very light then gradually gets darker until it is very dark. We use this technique on curved surfaces like a cylinder.
