Where you bank matters It’s your voice on what’s important to you and an opportunity to be part of a larger movement with a big impact. When you bank locally, you are investing in the success and prosperity of our community, just like when you shop at local stores, buy local produce and foods, and support local nonprofits. When you’re ready to join the community banking movement, come say hello!

Good Evening! Welcome to the 21st Annual Catoctin Affair! It has been our pleasure to serve for our first time as Co-Chairwomen of the Catoctin Affair Committee. Through this endeavor, we have seen firsthand how amazing our community is. Our volunteer committee has put in thousands of hours on behalf of the Mental Health Association and we cannot thank them enough for the outstanding TEAMWORK that led us to tonight. We come together as a community and TEAM now to ring the “bell” for mental health and show just how much mental health matters to ALL of us. We come together to erase the stigma. And together, we provide hope. With your support tonight, we are building a stronger, more resilient community on a foundation of love and wellness. Let’s ring our bells and celebrate MHA tonight.
With Love,
Rebecca Layman and Tricia Griffis Your Co-Chairwomen

Live Appeal
Because Mental Health Matters
Last year more than 660 people came to MHA’s offices and saw a crisis specialist without an appointment. At no charge. This was an increase of 25% over the previous year. Nearly 40% of our Walk-In clients last year were children and youth. Now imagine if MHA’s Walk-In services were not available… The Ausherman Family Foundation recognizes this need and is matching dollar-for-dollar what you give in our Live Appeal tonight up to $25,000. This means, by giving tonight, you will instantly double the impact of your gift. Join us tonight and share our commitment to building a strong and resilient community by raising your bid number high when you hear the giving level that best fits your passion:
$100
provides walk-in crisis services to the community for one hour
$250
keeps our 24/7/365 call center open long enough to take one life-saving call related to suicide
$500
provides a month of counseling on a sliding scale to a young teen struggling with anxiety
$1,000
keeps our Walk-In crisis program open for 1 ½ days and keeps someone out of the emergency room A copy of the current financial statement of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, Inc. is available by writing 226 S. Jefferson St., Frederick, MD 21701 or by calling 301-693-9096. Documents and information submitted under the Maryland Charitable Solicitations Act are also available, for the cost of postage and copies, from the Maryland Secretary of State, State House, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. MHA is a 501(c) (3) organization, and your contribution is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Please note that you have received no goods or services in return for this donation.
Our Vision A community where children can grow and thrive without fear; where good mental health is valued; where people of all ages know when and how to seek help for emotional or family problems without shame; and where everyone will have access to mental health services without barriers.
Mental Health Association's Programs and Services PREPARING RESILIENT CHILDREN Helping children learn mental and emotional resilience now will help them adapt to the situations and setbacks they'll face throughout life, and to become the strong, stable citizens our community needs. We work to give children the emotional, social, and cognitive skills they'll carry throughout their lives-into the classroom, the workplace, and the home.
SECURING VULNERABLE FAMILIES Many family situations present pressing challenges that affect everyone in them. They not only disrupt entire families; they can leave children without a stable or permanent home and can increase a child's risk for struggles later in life-like mental illness, unemployment, even prison. Through our work with vulnerable families, we provide support, stability, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
"You were there when my sister attempted suicide and we didn't know where to turn"
FACING CRISES TOGETHER We all encounter moments and challenges that we struggle to face alone. These are more than urgent challenges. They're the pivot points of life. Because no one should have to face these struggles alone MHA is here - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We're helping our community-we're saving livesevery single day.
SUPPORTING OUR WHOLE COMMUNITY MHA does more than support the thousands of individuals who seek out our services each year-we provide mental health education and advocacy on a community-wide level, raising awareness of the importance of mental health and of mental health services. This works strengthens our whole community by encouraging those who feel alone to seek out support; promoting understanding; and bolstering mental and emotional well-being in schools, businesses, and homes.
"MHA Walk-in Behavioral Health Services were available to me when I was in crisis at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening; when receiving help was critical"
