About Me I have always had a great interest not only in Architecture itself, but also how architecture is treated and perceived differently, influenced by surrounding and culture. In late 2013 I graduated with a B.A. in Architecture from the Technical University of Munich with an international GPA of 3,76. During the 4 year program, I got the chance for a scholarship based year abroad at the University of Sheffield, UK. During several years of part-time work in a renowned German architecture office (Haack&HĂśpfner Architekten) I could learn the ropes of architectural design as well as project work in (often international) teams, project management and work with clients. Since the end of 2013, I started offering freelance work. My self-driven attitude and the experience gathered through out university and office work helped me to secure clients quickly, completing smaller retail designs in Abu Dhabi and London amongst others.

Working as a Junior Consultant at CBRE, the worlds largest commercial real estate Company taught me to work with high profile clients and tight deadlines. I since took on the project planning for the Industrial & Logistics department in Germany, . Being driven to experience architecture from a different perspective and cultural context, I am always keen for new opportunities. portfolio Good design is not about form following function. It is function with cultural content. By adding “cultural content” to the concept of “form follows function,” objects cease to be finite or predictable. Maybe the right way to interpret the dictum is to first acknowledge that the function needs to be clearly understood before the form is considered. - Carl Magnusson

keyworker housing Single Project Year: 2012 Time: 6 Weeks Scale: Urban Planning to 1:5 Details Physical Model
project_01 K e y wor ker Housing Liverpool, UK In close proximity to the docks, this area is currently undergoing great changes. The Rope-Walk Area forms the creative centre of Liverpool. To provide the much needed, affordable housing for workers in the area and at the same time create space for this creativity and art all around, the 3 blocks were lifted up, creating workshops, offices and exhibition rooms. This blends the ground floor into the exiting urban fabric of small -scale houses and garages. The 3 apartment blocks are built on top of this structure and set back, moving them away from the busy and noisy streets. The Apartments After several different designs for the apartment the decision was made for a simple, yet very flexible layout. A private entrance area leads into the living room, which flows into the kitchen and out onto a generous balcony. The library/ working area on the top floor oversees the kitchen and living room through the big void, giving a sense of space to the relatively small apartment. If needed that area can be separated with light walls to create an extra room. The bedroom as well as a master bathroom are also located on the upper floor. The Facade The facade is cladded with recycled wood from the docks.

biodiver si t y centre Single Project Year: 2012 Time: 6 Weeks Scale: Site Plan to 1:5 Details Physical Model
project_02 Biodi ver si t y C ent r e Sheffield, UK The brief asked for an outreach centre for the biology departments of Sheffield’s Universities. The Universities asked for a unique building that was supposed to stand out and spark the interest of pedestrians passing by. Inspired by the old leadwork building, that used to be located on the site, a very open floorplan was chosen instead of closed of rooms. The building itself got it’s form from being simply extruded out of the site and then cut and folded, taking into account adjacent buildings, insolation, pedestrian walk ways and rainwater harvesting. On one side, the open nursery provides sun for the plants as well as insights into the building. From the other side, a pattern cut into the corten-facade (a reference to the location in Sheffield’s rust belt). Depending on the distance, the perception changes from the pattern of ivy growing, to holes in the facade that allow pedestrians to look into the laboratories. Interior Going with the idea of an open floorplan, only a core with offices and lecture rooms is dividing the nursery from the cafe and provides structural stability to the whole building. The café blends into the exhibition area, which is a big ramp leading visitors over the open parts of the laboratory and allowing for exhibitions to be linked to demonstrations in the laboratory as well as views outside and towards the plants in the nursery.

With a steady increase in student numbers, the current situation is a conglomeration of buildings, pieced together over time and not capable of accommodating enough students anymore. after a long research phase, studying how the current buildings are used and interviewing teachers as well as students about what they think is necessary the decision was made to demolish the existing elementary school building as well as the pool, and adding a gymnasium. School only the historic first school building was kept in place. it now houses the lunch-area and office rooms. a glass joint connects it to the new school building. on the left hand side, the classrooms are pushed outwards, creating small courtyards for each class as well as secluded areas inside. all other necessary rooms are situated in a row to the right of the hallway. next to the classrooms the hallway widens, letting light wash through the building and creating flexible and open spaces to teach and play. The galleries on top provide a quieter area for homework and afternoon care. Gymnasium & Swimming Hall The gymnasium and the swimming hall are placed to give structure to the formerly chaotic site and form clear courtyards, the main one being enclosed between the two halls, providing a save area for outdoor sports and games. entering the swimming hall, one can look down into the pool area. on the right side the changing rooms alternate with big atriums, letting a lot of light into the building. From the changing room, stairs lead through the bright atriums down to the showers and then out to the pool area, which is lowered into the ground.

Project, Urban Planning 2013, Munich Conversion of wholesale market
14
The complete building was measured and drawn out in detail. after analysis, the rooftop storage was turned into 2 loft apartments. an elevator was integrated while keeping the historic value of the house.
Plan to convert the former wholesale market, forming new connections between the neighbourhoods. The goal was to integrate living-, officeand recreational-space while keeping the overall identity of the quarter.
Project, Shop Interior 2014, Abu Dhabi (Freelance) Layout of store at Mall in Abu Dhabi for iPilot
Analysis, British Museum 2012 Analysis of great court roof at the British Museum
Interior Design, balancing strict guidelines of the mall and the corporate design. The project was completely detailed according to local requirements and is currently under construction.
Drawing sections and details as well as making a physical model greatly helped with understanding as well as explaining the project from the initial design process to structural and technical details involved.

Project, Extension 2012, Munich (Haack & Hรถpfner) Planning of Addition to existing building
Project, Multi Tenant House 2013, Munich (Haack & Hรถpfner) Planning and Visualisation, currently being built
16
Since the existing building became too small for the family, the decision was to create a very open and modern interpretation of the house and place it in front of it. A glass joint connects new and old.
Building regulations asking for open parking space inspired the idea of underground parking, with the house lifted up, seemingly hovering. The facade allows a lot of light in while providing privacy on this dense site.
Project, Church 2013, Munich (Haack & Höpfner) Planning from overall layout to technical details
Project, Office Building 2013, Munich (Haack & Höpfner) Planning from overall layout to technical details
With very simple geometric forms and strong focus on the use of materials as well as light and shadows, the church creates a sense of comfort. Moving walls make the floorplan flexible for different occasions.
The client company needed a bigger office building, but at the same time wanted to maintain the sense of a small, approachable family business. The “office houses” are connected by a very light and open common area.
