1. -Tensioned Void- Jackson Pollock Museum 2014
Pollock's works are consist of the expected element and unexpected element, which come from the relationship between the size of the canvas and his body dimension. To make this character clear, I set up two horizontal planes, one is for visiters with holes, and the other is for the works. I tried to apply this character of his works to the situation of Tokyo today, having produced this small void that has conflicting elements. It seems like a cave but at the same time, like a swing. Pollock's Works
Analysis: Overlay of Pollock's action
Analysis: Extraction of Pollock's handwriting
He struggled to escape from his consciousness but finally he could not escape from his own dimension.

To design a residential building in this site, we tried to connect the mass of the buildings of whole block and at the same time connect the street and the interior of block that has old ruines of Can Ricart. Our solution is to make a transparent mass that is composed of arches that connect each room in diagonal way. 14

Komae city has a lot of abandoned land though they used to be important places such as old tomb, canals, and so on. they are usually changed into roads or buildings that the city demands. I proposed a school that accept the city demands and chose the most suitable function to the each part of the city. I designed it as a circle to connect them. Planning Concept Model: An old tomb cut through for a road and buildings

Green Bus Stop Plaza: The east side of this school is facing to the exsisting houses and trees along a canal. The residents are always taking care of this green. Along the canal, there is a road of buses and this connects them to the train station. I designed green bus stop plazas and classrooms along the canal and extended the green to the school. In this site, I expressed many layers of human life that are connected by green, canals, and buses.

As a memorial museum of Gaudí, I tried to create a heterogenity of his buildings. The angles of the views were calculated for each model according to the way that Gaudí did in the design of the facade of Sagrada Familia. Also I intented to generate a new

In the park, there are eight spaces from that visters can watch the models. Those spaces are opened to the public. The size and the distance of the terrace for the pilar is calcurated carefully following the words of Gaudí. According to him, architecture should be seen in 60º from the exterior, 90º from the interior.

In this section, you can see the relationship between the exterior and the interior. From the interior, it is designed to see the observer that are watching the model. The angles of view of each models are well calcurated and they define the distances. The distances define the shape of this building and the topography of the room that are hunged from the exterior wall to the central columns.

Site Plan S=1/10000
In this project I tried to generate a building that helps visiters to understand this city physically and philosophically, and make them become interested in the site. In Setagaya, Tokyo many famous novelists were living and created novels (especially philosophical ones) though walking around this city. They discovered a lot of aspects even though they are quite familiar with there and they connected the experiences and Sakutaro Hagiwara(1886-1942)
philosophy. I respect these aititudes to discover their own city.
Riichi Yokomitsu(1898-1947)
I desined a library and small residences for students next to an old temple taking care of the original topography and histrical meaning of this site to present the characteristics of there that they also Models of what they found in the city

TERM: September 2017- (2 months)
SITE: Bordeaux, FRANCE
NOTE: Collaboration with Eric Estrada and Juan Benites
2017 ETSAB This site originally had industrial functions. To transform this into an active space, we proposed to "reverse" it. The old industrial buildings are here outside public spaces because the dimension of these buildings are more proper to the plazas than new buildings. Also with this solution, we successed to keep characteristics of this site.
The plazas have only walls and some roof structures. To characterize those plazas, each plaza has four tall buildings on the coners. They have mixed functions and on the top of them should be restaurants that have nice view.

2017 ETSAB This site is located in the west side of Barcelona, and now it is an industrial area. We started this project from analyzing the functions of there. To make the part active, we designed five vertical streets that connect the north part ond the south. Each of them has different characteristics that we expected through the analysis.
