Senior Wellness Center “A Wooded Walkway The building is more than a place to get fixed and go, it is to be a place of healing. And healing should be about both the body and the mind. Nature is the worlds way of southing the mind, and taking cues from nature is the best way to incorporate healing into the building. Wooded paths create an environment of healing. The smells, sounds, and sunlight invigorate. The walk itself is healthy and builds the body as well. The gentle curves in the path entice a person to find what's beyond the bend. Points of interest draw the eye and legs to go off the beaten path, and man even makes its mark on the path, creating rest stops like benches to enjoy the view in comfort. Man leaves another mark in the path left behind as they walk. As more and more people walk the path it becomes more defined, more pronounced, making the path better for those that come after. This natural crafting of the path connects the points of interest, points of rest, and destinations with one sweeping stroke.
What this can do for the building is taken in a literal approach. One sweeping curved path that connects the major suites of the buildings. These suites are signified by points that draw the eye and legs in that direction. The path is punctuated by points of rest that are both convenient and pleasing to the eye. This path is open to the sky by a skylight, and even at night is lit like the sun streaming through trees. Destinations on each end of the path are the two entrances to the building, and the junctions are the waiting rooms for the two suites, urgent care and physicians.
