Tilers Tools announces a new

CONCRETE & STONEWORK FUGA-PAVE ABC SUPER REVIEWS FOR A NEW MORTAR, PRIMER AND GROUT SYSTEM

A guaranteed installation system that delivers substantial improvements over traditional sand and cement, at no extra cost. No wonder professional landscapers and their suppliers are excited about FUGA-PAVE ABC.

Tilers Tools (a division of Aquacut Limited) has announced the launch of a cost-effective, but powerful system that can be used for installing porcelain, stone or cementitious products. While delivering a number of benefits over traditional sand plus cement plus additives methods, FUGAPAVE Parts A & B gives valuable improvements for no greater cost than sand plus cement installations.

Tilers Tools has a reputation for working closely with the landscape community – they have held a series of demonstration and ‘how-to’ days throughout the country and are often approached for advice with regard to installation techniques, tools, equipment and consumables.

As 20mm thick porcelain is specified more and more, the team at Tilers Tools were increasingly asked to recommend the best installation techniques. Tilers Tools picked up the challenge to develop a system designed for professional landscapers whether installing porcelain, natural stone or cementitious products in landscapes and hardscapes.

The folks at Tilers Tools approached adhesives manufacturers with a list of attributes they insisted that Parts A and B, (hybrid cement and primer) must have.

These included;

Economic – the cost should be no more than existing sand plus cement techniques

Easy to mix – hybrid cement mixes with grit sand and water (6:1, sand:hybrid cement), for the primer just mix with water Easy to use – creamy texture, hold the flag well, must not ooze through the joints Good pot life Water based – so easy to clean up Can be used on porcelain, natural stone and cementitious flags Permeable but very hard bed – particularly important when laying porous stone and cementbased flags

Strong bond between substrate and mortar, and mortar and flags Comes in weatherproof bags, so can be stored outside on site The hybrid cement can be mixed with builders’ sand for use as a strong mortar for brick walls

The hybrid cement has been formulated to be laid on a compacted bed 100-150mm thick. The mortar applied at least 25mm thick, acts alongside the primer to give a powerful monolithic bond that really grabs the flags in a similar way as a tile adhesive on steroids would.

The grout also had specific requirements, including;

Easy to apply and wash off at installation Smooth grain which resists slumping, giving a nice flat finish that avoids detritus gathering in the joints Simple maintenance – capable of preserving that ‘just-installed’ look UV resistant – important to avoid colour fading antibacterial, - the grout has natural antibacterial properties strong but flexible – the grout can flex to avoid cracking hard-wearing enough to be used in heavily trafficked areas, water-repellent – passes the drop water test which is important when installing porcelain to avoid water pooling under the flag suitable for grout joints up to 20mm wide

available in a range of the five most popular colours; light grey, medium grey, anthracite, Jasmin and limestone

After months of working with scientists based at adhesives manufacturers and following rigorous testing, FUGA-PAVE ABC’s formulation was finalised.

Professional landscapers who have trialled the system have given FUGA-PAVE ABC a resounding thumbs-up. The ABC system passes the demanding requirements to create a first-class installation system specially formulated for landscape professionals.

Landscape suppliers throughout the UK are switched on to the qualities of the products and are signing up to stock and sell FUGA-PAVE ABC, so landscapers ought to be able to source the system locally.
