Drawing strategy, basic color theory, and compositional development are the cornerstones of the MAJORS Painting course. Students are introduced to panel and canvas construction, and will use oil painting processes that include direct painting and glaze painting in studio and plein air settings. Direct observational skills are sharpened through still life, self-portrait, and landscape painting that encourages students to investigate structuring of space and abstractions of color, space, and form. Slide presentations, gallery visits, and critique will augment the learning process.
