INSURANCE: It is a condition of booking that the sole responsibility lies with the guest to ensure that they carry the correct comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover themselves, as well as any dependents/traveling companions for the duration of their trip. RATES: Rates are based on the minimum number of guests outlined in this document, plus airfare costs and other factors and are subject to change. Though it is rare for Classic Escapes to make a price adjustment after promotion of an itinerary, we do reserve the right to assess a surcharge if the minimum is not met, or if increases are forced upon us by airlines or other partners.

Travel by land and water to some of the most important landmarks of this ancient nation, from royal palaces to sacred temples. Wander the nation’s most revered national park, where you’ll encounter gibbon, bear, and even the lumbering majesty of the Asian elephant. Get hands on experience with some of Thailand’s most treasured skills, including be textile weaving, wood carving, and cooking. This is an experience into the beauty of Thailand, that will shape your understanding of what it is to be Thai.

DAYS 7/8 ~ BANGKOK/CHIANG RAI PHU CHAISAI MOUNTAIN RESORT & SPA. (B,L,D Daily) Return to the Bangkok airport for your flight to Chiang Rai. Upon arrival, enjoy your accommodations and leisure time. Begin the next day with a visit to Doi Mae Salong, surrounded by oolong tea plantations, Chinese temples, and open-air bazaars. Drive to the Golden Triangle in the far north, where Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand meet, and where the opium trade once flourished. Continue your drive to a Baan Pa Aor village, a Karen Long Neck village. The Long Neck women are famous for wearing the high stacks of brass rings, which have elongated their necks.

Accommodations Explore the mysteries of the ancient temples and monuments of Siem Reap, including the largest temple in the world – Angkor Wat. Unlike other Khmer temples, it faces west and is inspired by 12th century Hinduism. Other ancient wonders include Angkor Thom, with its stunning Bayon

temple, and Ta Prohm, known as the ‘Kingdom of Trees’. Then travel to Kompong Khleang floating village, and visit a development project teaching young adults traditional crafts such as stone carving and wood carving.

DAYS 5/6 ~ AYUTTHAYA/KHAO YAI NATIONAL PARK BOTANICA KHAO YAI. (B,L,D Daily) Explore the ruins of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the once magnificent capital of the Thais, praised by foreign emissaries as the finest city they had ever seen. Continue to Khao Yai National Park, Thailand’s oldest and most revered national park. Next day, explore the spectacular park, home to some 3,000 plant and 70 mammal species, including Asian elephant, white handed gibbon, gaur, Asiatic black bear, and wild dog. Search for over 350 bird species from the brilliant colors of the Redheaded Trogon to Thailand’s national bird, the Siamese Fireback Pheasant.

DAYS 11/12 ~ COOKING CLASS/WOOD CARVING AT BAN TAWAI/BANGKOK/CINCINNATI (B,L; Meals Aloft) Visit a Thai cooking school, where you will prepare and eat a simple and delicious Thai meal. Continue to Ban Tawai, Thailand’s largest handicraft market. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangkok connecting to the USA, arriving the next day.

DAY 4 ~ CHAO PHRAYA RIVER/AYUTTHAYA KANTARY HOTEL. (B,L,D) After breakfast, board the Grand Pearl, which will carry you up the Chao Phraya River, past the Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn, to Ayutthaya. Sit back and observe rural life along the river. Arrive at Nonthaburi at Wat Chonglom Pier,and transfer by private vehicle to the north of Bangkok, onto the ancient city of Ayutthaya – former capital of Siam. Enjoy the balance of your day at leisure.

DAY 10 ~ CHIANG MAI/LAMPANG EMPRESS HOTEL CHANG MAI. (B,L) After breakfast, drive to Lampang, to visit the Elephant Hospital and Conservation Center, run by Mr. Richard Lair, Thailand’s leading elephant expert. Watch the elephants demonstrate their skill in logging, painting, and even music. Take a carriage ride to view some of the finest Burmese Temples in Thailand and see the stunning Thai temple of Wat Prathat Lampang Luang and its Emerald Buddha House. Continue to Lamphun, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Thailand dating back to 663 AD, with its Wat Phrathat Hariphunchai, one of the most striking temples in all of Thailand.

Continue on to the Grand Palace, the most important center of Thai culture. It was once the royal abode, but today serves as a museum and venue for ceremonial functions. Marvel at the Emerald Buddha and the displays of royal artifacts, memorabilia, and opulent decor. After lunch visit the Jim Thompson House, an architectural gem. This evening, enjoy a Thai dinner accompanied by traditional music and dance.

DAY 9 ~ CHIANG RAI/CHIANG MAI EMPRESS HOTEL CHIANG MAI. (B,L,D) Transfer to Chiang Mai, renowned for its historic temples and scenic beauty. Visit the 600-year-old Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. After a winding drive, continue the final climb to the site via a Napa staircase and enjoy the incomparable view over the city. Late this afternoon, return to Chiang Mai where the remainder of your day is at leisure. We recommend visiting local textile booths to learn about traditional textile weaving, as well as various handicraft factories on Sankhampaeng Road. Early this evening, visit the bustling Night Bazaar and return to your hotel by tuk tuk.

(B,L,D Daily) Explore the ruins of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the once magnificent capital of the Thais, praised by foreign emissaries as the finest city they had ever seen. Continue to Khao Yai National Park, Thailand’s oldest and most revered national park. Next day, explore the spectacular park, home to some 3,000 plant and 70 mammal species, including Asian elephant, white handed gibbon, gaur, Asiatic black bear, and wild dog. Search for over 350 bird species from the brilliant colors of the Redheaded Trogon to Thailand’s national bird, the Siamese Fireback Pheasant.

DAYS 11/12 ~ COOKING CLASS/WOOD CARVING AT BAN TAWAI/BANGKOK/CINCINNATI (B,L; Meals Aloft) Visit a Thai cooking school, where you will prepare and eat a simple and delicious Thai meal. Continue to Ban Tawai, Thailand’s largest handicraft market. Later, transfer to the airport for your flight to Bangkok connecting to the USA, arriving the next day.

DAY 4 ~ CHAO PHRAYA RIVER/AYUTTHAYA KANTARY HOTEL. (B,L,D) After breakfast, board the Grand Pearl, which will carry you up the Chao Phraya River, past the Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn, to Ayutthaya. Sit back and observe rural life along the river. Arrive at Nonthaburi at Wat Chonglom Pier,and transfer by private vehicle to the north of Bangkok, onto the ancient city of Ayutthaya – former capital of Siam. Enjoy the balance of your day at leisure.

DAY 10 ~ CHIANG MAI/LAMPANG EMPRESS HOTEL CHANG MAI. (B,L) After breakfast, drive to Lampang, to visit the Elephant Hospital and Conservation Center, run by Mr. Richard Lair, Thailand’s leading elephant expert. Watch the elephants demonstrate their skill in logging, painting, and even music. Take a carriage ride to view some of the finest Burmese Temples in Thailand and see the stunning Thai temple of Wat Prathat Lampang Luang and its Emerald Buddha House. Continue to Lamphun, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Thailand dating back to 663 AD, with its Wat Phrathat Hariphunchai, one of the most striking temples in all of Thailand.

Continue on to the Grand Palace, the most important center of Thai culture. It was once the royal abode, but today serves as a museum and venue for ceremonial functions. DAY 9 ~ CHIANG RAI/CHIANG MAI EMPRESS HOTEL CHIANG MAI. (B,L,D) Transfer to Chiang Mai, renowned for its historic temples and scenic beauty. Visit the 600-year-old Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. After a winding drive, continue the final climb to the site via a Napa staircase and enjoy the incomparable view over the city. Late this afternoon, return to Chiang Mai where the remainder of your day is at leisure. We recommend visiting local textile booths to learn about traditional textile weaving, as well as various handicraft factories on Sankhampaeng Road.
