• Late in the fourth quarter, following a LB Zach Thomas interception, the Dolphins embarked on a 12-play, 45-yard drive that culminated with K Olindo Mare’s 49-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining.

• After the game seemingly ended following an incomplete pass by New England QB Drew Bledsoe from the Patriots’ 40, both teams were called back on the field 35 minutes later after it was ruled that three seconds still remained. Patriots QB Michael Bishop’s final pass attempt was off the mark.

• Despite being limited to 26 yards on 20 carries, Dolphins RB Lamar Smith scored two touchdowns on 1-yard runs.
