Charter Revision Commission proposes changes By David L. Snelling The Miami Laker staff The Miami Lakes Charter Revision Commission is seeking to shake up the town’s government in an effort to root out corruption and politics, conceivably in light of a political scandal that rocked the town in 2013, when the mayor was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes and kick backs. The group hashed out a rash of proposed charter amendments to stop corruption and nepotism, and bring back equal representation for town constituents, as the vast majority of residents and council members live on the west-side. However, the commission’s chief proposal to allow council members to choose a mayor, following an election, to serve for a maximum of two years instead of residents electing their public official to a four-year term, didn’t sit well with most people. They include Mayor Michael Pizzi, his political foe former Mayor Wayne Slaton and their erstwhile colleague Nancy Simon, three of the founding council members who were often at odds with each other but agreed on
keeping the mayoral format under the original town charter. The Miami Lakes Town Council may stymie the Commission’s efforts to change the way the bureaucracy is run since the elected officials decide which proposed charter amendments make it on the ballot. Councilmembers Manny Cid and Ceasar Mestre and Slaton, who are running for mayor in November, embrace the current structure of the city’s government, which means residents may not get a chance to vote on the suggested mayoral change. Pizzi has yet to decide if he’s running for reelection but, like many residents, has voiced his opposition over residents not being allowed to exercise their right to vote for a mayor. “I am against it,” he said at the Charter Revision Commission’s February 8 meeting. “We don’t think this is something right for Miami Lakes at this point.” Underscoring the solidarity created by the proposed charter change, Pizzi told the committee they were able to do something that no one has ever done before.
“The Commission managed to achieve something so monumental that no one could’ve contemplated it, and that is to get myself, Slaton and Simon to 100 percent agree on a particular issue.” Former Mayor Slaton said, “To no longer have the residents elect the mayor is similar to a corporate board of directors who decide who their chairman should be, and they do it behind closed doors. “I would suggest that we keep the election of the mayor above ground and within the Sunshine [Law].” Simon said the will of the voters should decide who represents their government, which is an antithesis of dictatorship in some countries, despite who gets elected to political office. “I didn’t like the last eight years
of the presidency, and here we all are eight years later,” she said “It is incumbent that we respect the authority of the people.” Other residents chimed in saying the proposed amendment wipes out democracy for their right to choose a public official to represent Miami Lakes. Wendy Armesto said it’s unfair for residents to be deprived of their privilege on election day. “It’s like taking the rights away for voting for the president of the United States,” she said. Miriam Duman echoed similar sentiments. “I would like to vote for my mayor the same as I vote for the president of the United States,” she said. Some residents said the proposed mayoral change is an attack
on Pizzi, a polarizing political figure who was busted in an FBI corruption sting, and limiting the mayor’s duties. “I think we are taking away some of the mayor’s power,” said Commission member George Lopez, who voted against the change. But committee member Claudia Luces said otherwise. “The mayor is still one vote on the entire council, he is there for ceremonial purposes, like ribbon cutting and presentations, and giving the state of the town address,” she said. “We are not removing his duties, he’s the face of the town and everyone has the right to elect their council members.”

Return to district seats, vice Councilmembers call for comprehensive mayor election on charter agenda plan to relieve town’s traffic congestion (Continued from Page 1) The Commission also suggested bringing back the four residential seats to give constituents equal representation on the Town Council. In 2012, residents approved a referendum in favor of all at-large seats, but six among the seven council members live west of the Palmetto Expressway, as well as most of the town’s population, possibly leaving east-side residents disenfranchised. Commision member Joshua Dieguez said the devoid of residential districts is leading some residents to feel isolated from areas with heavy representation, especially on election day. During the 2013 special election, he said two candidates living on the west side out performed the east side candidates at the polls. “Since the change was made, it wasn’t working,” Dieguez said. “Regional districts would work better to achieve geographic parity.” The rotation of the vice mayor was also on the commission’s agenda. Each year, the Town Council nominates a vice mayor to perform mayoral duties in his absence, including running council meetings. But the commission noted the history of selecting a vice mayor
who served multiple terms without giving other council members a chance to serve as the town’s second-ranking official. The Commission approved Mirtha Mendez’s proposal in which the council picks a vice mayor to serve only once during his four-year term to shun nepotism among lawmakers. Commission chairman David Bennett’s effort to bring back a run-off election is going before council members for ballot consideration as well. Under the existing town charter, a run-off election is required only following a tie vote. According to Deputy Town Clerk Carmen Stewart, the proposed charter amendments must be approved by March 31 with 120 days from the date lawmakers give their nod to be placed on the ballot. The town can chose a mail-in ballot election or the county-wide primary in August. Stewart said Miami-Dade doesn’t allow mailin ballots after May. The Charter Revision Commission meets again on Monday, February 22, at 6 p.m. in the Council chambers at Miami Lakes Town Hall. The meeting is open to the publilc and is also streamed live on the town’s website, www.miamilakes-fl.gov.
By David L. Snelling The Miami Laker staff Miami Lakes has called for a comprehensive plan to resolve the long-running traffic congestion throughout the Town, which includes designating someone to attend traffic meetings of the two agencies working on solutions. Town officials also want to make sure that a neighboring city, where a developer has plans for residential and possible commercial development, doesn’t propose an I-75 interchange at N.W. 170 and 154 streets despite an interlocal agreement not to do so. In what has been a pet peeve for residents, the Town is seeking major traffic relief, especially with the addition of a new mega mall outside the town’s boundaries, 509 housing units along Miami Lakes Drive and N.W. 87 Avenue and Lennar Corporation’s plans for 484 homes west of I-75 in Hialeah. Councilmember Tony Lama, who is spearheading the town’s traffic initiative along with Councilmember Nelson Rodriguez, said with no concrete plan in sight, the traffic would come to a complete standstill for hours. “I want to make traffic our priority for the next 11 months,” Lama said at the February 2 regular meeting.
Lama’s colleagues approved his proposals as the initial steps. They include Town staff collecting all the county’s and state’s plans for traffic relief for the Palmetto Expressway at N.W. 67 Avenue and at Miami Lakes Drive to be discussed at a workshop or town hall meeting; request that MDX and FDOT prioritize a solution for the west side of town, possibly a ramp for N.W. 87 Avenue and State Road 924; and the Town Manager designating someone to be the “point person” to attend the agencies’ meetings that focus on gridlock throughout the northwest Miami-Dade area. “Not only would we have a seat at the table, but we would be very active in the conversations that are part of trying to find a solution,”
Lama said. Miami-Dade County Commission Vice Chair Esteban Bovo Jr. told council members the county, including its Metropolitan Planning Organization, is aware of the traffic woes and hopes their suggestions contrive a concrete solution. Bovo quelled rumors of Hialeah opening up N.W. 170 and 154 streets to alleviate traffic with the new Mega Mall. “I have not seen any plans to entertain opening them up because of the Mega Mall,” he said. Bovo said the traffic nightmare stems from poorly planned neighborhoods by Miami-Dade County. “We are concerned about the transit in Northwest Miami-Dade, and it’s a challenge to figure out the best way to move people.”

‘Lifetime thrill” during tandem jump with the Golden Knights
Water by the Spoonful in final two weekends on Main Street
By R.A. Romero The Miami Laker staff On a beautiful cloudless day in Homestead, when most people would be enjoying bike-riding or visiting the beach, I was mentally preparing myself to jump out of a plane. What some consider the thrill of a lifetime and others would say is the paragon of fear was actually a proportionate mixture of both. The opportunity to jump with the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights, was one I couldn’t pass up. During the team’s winter practices at Homestead Air Base, media representatives, members of other U.S. military organizations, teachers and civic leaders, are invited to experience Tandem Jumps. I figured if I was going to jump out of a plane, I wanted to make sure the person strapped to me was the best of the best. Within 45 minutes of shaking hands with the personable Jimmy H., my assigned Tandem Instructor, he very quickly transformed from new acquaintance to the man who held my life in his hands. I also had the pleasure of being paired with Richie S., a talented videographer, to capture my inevitable embarrassment on film for me to relive for years to come. The act of falling is strange. Most people, myself included, have only experienced sensations of falling from a roller coaster. Skydiving is not even remotely similar to the visceral feeling of your stomach trying to crawl deeper into your diaphragm, the uncomfortable fear that accompanies the drops at Universal Studios. Falling from over 13,000 feet at 120 miles an hour is, for obvious reasons, unlike anything

else I have experienced. I felt like I was floating. However, two things did surprise me. I was not expecting the dive to be something akin to peaceful, nor did I consider that jumping into the sky (and more importantly, landing) is an incredible skill. In the moments leading up to diving headlong into “blue skies” as the Golden Knights say, despite my jitters, I was constantly reassured not only verbally but in witnessing the precision and immense forethought that goes into every single jump. Jimmy, a former Military Police Officer, and Richie, a former Marine, were professionals. I felt safe. Jimmy’s watch glistened in the sunlight and I made out the number: 4.6 altimeters. “We’re not even halfway there,” said Richie, with two thumbs up and the videocamera mounted on his helmet. I could barely hear him over the engine and the roar of the wind parting as the plane, a Viking Twin Otter, cut through the sky. We left the din of excitement in our wake. We rose higher until finally the time came to jump. The fall isn’t scary, it’s the countdown right before and the feeling of your feet leaving the aircraft. Everything after that feels like unimaginable freedom. We fell while showcasing the gold and black colors of the Golden Knights, the gold which represents the team’s reputation of bringing home gold medals from competitions, and the “knights” alluding that the team has conquered the skies. The team earned the title of the Army’s Goodwill Ambassadors to the world by proving their excellence and informing the public of the “call to

The Golden Knights are a part of the Army Marketing and Research Group which, apart from participating in marketing and media outreach at events like air shows and festivals, are active duty that provide military support through the Strategic Outreach Program. Congressional committee investigates News and Notes from the Town of Miami Lakes USPS refusal for Town’s ZIP Code By David L. Snelling The Miami Laker staff The U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has launched an investigation into the United States Postal Service’s refusal to grant Miami Lakes its own zip code, a major turning point in the Town’s decade-long campaign to break ties with the Postmaster of the City of Hialeah. Miami Lakes has been fighting for years to land an independent zip code to help lower car insurance rates and homeowners’ insurance premiums, among other costsaving issues, but has been dealt a blow each time Town officials requested a postal geographic area change. So, Miami Lakes turned to lawmakers in Washington, D.C. who subsequently took action, and the town could be on the brink of finally getting some results. According to a letter by Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) to Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan, which was dated February 10, 2016, he has requested the USPS turn over all documents the Town filed under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to request the results of any studies and other paper work by the South Florida District Office for the reasons the Town was denied a zip code boundary review. Chaffetz said the District Office’s determination that assignment of an independent zip code
code. Last year, Rubio requested a follow up on the FOIA request made by the town seeking information on its prior request for a zip code boundary change. The three zip codes town residents and business owners use are registered with the Hialeah Postmaster. Cid said the Committee’s investigation is a glimmer of hope for Miami Lakes and that Rubio and Diaz-Balart made it all possible. “My colleagues and I, along with Congressman Diaz-Balart, Senator Rubio and Chairman Chaffetz will continue to fight for an independent Miami Lakes zip code, said Cid. “The Committee’s mission is to ensure effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies. We provide a check and balance on the role and power of Washington, and a voice to the people it serves.
was not economically feasible, but it was unclear whether the USPS conducted a search for responsive records and made a “page by page determination of whether to release such records. “Under FOIA, a responding agency shall make reasonable efforts to search for records, Chaffetz said in the missive. “And even if some information contained within a record is exempt, any reasonable segregable portion of a record shall be provided. Chaffetz said his committee has jurisdiction over FOIA, and ensuring compliance with its requirements is a long standing priority for the Committee. He asked the documents be delivered to his office by February 24, 2016. The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s probe gives new life in the town’s quest for a zip code. Following incorporation in 2000, Miami Lakes has been seeking its own zip code boundary but was repeatedly turned down. Councilmember Manny Cid decided to revive the issue after he was first elected in 2012, and spearheaded a referendum in which residents approved a straw ballot to allow Miami Lakes to resume perusing a zip code. The town contacted U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) and Congressman Mario DiazBalart (R-Miami) about the issue who each wrote Brennan and asked her office to come to a decision on the town’s appeal for a zip

Two Town committees join to host Health & Fitness Fair Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee and the Youth Activities Task Force are once again jointly hosting the 2nd annual Family Health and Fitness Fair on Saturday, March 19, at the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. The inaugural event last year drew more than 500 people from Miami Lakes and surrounding areas to visit with more than 60 local businesses and learn about health, wellness and fitness. This year, the annual Bike and Safety Rodeo will be merged with the Fitness Fair and include a Community Bike Ride beginning at 9 a.m. to showcase the new greenway and trail placed along N.W. 170 Street as part of the Town’s Greenways and Trails Master Plan. Once completed, the more than 18 miles of improved sidewalks, bikeways and intersections will encourage bicycle travel
as a more viable option for transportation needs, plus adding recreational and health benefits for the community. The committees will have some bikes available to rent, but they encourage attendees to ride their own bikes if available. Andy’s Police Supply will also be raffling off bikes. All health, wellness and fitness-related businesses and organizations are invited to participate by providing educational information on health, wellness and fitness opportunities in Miami Lakes. Those businesses interested in participating are asked to register by Monday, February 29. To download the vendor registration form, visit www.miamilakes-fl.gov/fitfair, or contact Clarisell De Cardenas at decardenasc@miamilakes-fl.gov, or 305364-6100.

Straightforward Tips For Small Businesses
By Michael Huffaker, Franchise Owner Express Employment Professionals Engaging the Five Generations in Your Workplace Today’s workforce is the first in history to include workers from five different generations. While this adds welcome diversity, it also poses some significant challenges for keeping workers engaged and on board. A recent Ernst & Young survey shows that 75 percent of managers find it challenging to manage intergenerational teams and 77 percent reported that the different work expectations of each generation is a key challenge. Consider the general mindset of each group toward office meetings as an illustration of this challenge: • Traditionalists (born prior to 1946) will typically arrive early and expect a paper agenda. • Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964) will expect a PowerPoint presentation and are willing to put in any extra hours required if the meeting runs long. • Gen X (born between 1965 and 1976) employees will prefer to watch video and expect the meeting to end by 5 p.m. to honor work-life balance boundaries. • Millennials (born between 1977 and 1997) will want the meeting to have a strong purpose, and will use collaborative digital tools to share meeting information and expect others to do the same. • Generation Z (born after 1997) employees will want to call in from a remote location, no matter what the time, because they view the workplace as an anytime-anywhere proposition. It’s About Motivation How can employers keep all segments of this diverse workforce engaged? A Harvard Business Review article explains that it is not a matter of trying to get everyone to work in the same way, but about leveraging each group’s strengths and understanding what motivates team members the most. The author suggests that managers shouldn’t assume they already know
how to motivate employees who are older or younger. Instead, it’s important to have individual conversations with workers to determine what they want out of their own professional lives. Millennial workers, in particular, typically need to feel their input has value and some have very ambitious goals. A Wall Street Journal guide to managing across generations suggests giving these individuals special assignments that are outside of their job descriptions, such as placing them on a task force that’s working to solve a business or workplace problem. Different Generations, Similar Expectations While each workforce generation has come from a different era, a report by the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business Schools Executive Development Program suggests that in the workplace, the different generations may have more in common than employers realize, from wanting the business as a whole to succeed to wanting success in their individual careers. Interestingly, workers from all five generations agree on the characteristics of an ideal business leader: • Leads by example • Is accessible • Challenges and holds others accountable • Acts as a coach and mentor • Helps others see how their roles contribute to the organization. Despite technology, communication and work style preferences, there are universal attributes that cross generations and can lead to team bonding. Whether it’s the way your employees care about their families or their vision for the team’s success, those common threads can be the beginning of a more cohesive and engaged multi-generational team. This bonding breeds an atmosphere of trust and a valuable level of respect for what each individual brings to the table, no matter what generational group their are in.

MIAMI LAKES COUNCILMEMBERS Nelson Rodriguez and Ceasar Mestre, Vice Mayor Tim Daubert and Councilmember Manny Cid paid a visit to the State Capitol during the 2016 Florida Legislative Session to lobby $3.1 million in state funding for town-wide projects. State Representatives Manny Diaz Jr. and Jose Oliva and Senator Rene Garcia, whose districts include Miami Lakes, are securing dollars for infrastructure and water projects needed for Phase II of the town’s Canal Stabilization project, Lake Sarah drainage improvement project and the west drainage in the southwestern portion of the Town. The projects are essential to the Town to repair severe erosion in the canal banks, repair and prevent property damage due to heavy flooding, and increase water quality. The projects are considered so vital that the Town is providing matching funds of up to $700,000. Last year, the town received $300,000 for drainage improvements in the state’s 2015-2016 fiscal budget.
THE CENTER FOR REGENERATIVE MEDICINE...A NON-SURGICAL TECHNIQUE TO FIGHT AGAINST ARTHRITIS AND SORTS INJURIES
The Knee Diaries: SJ is a 60-year-old male with the chief complaint of knee pain who visited The Center for Regenerative Medicine over a year ago. He was diagnosed with bone-on-bone osteoarthritis of the left knee, causing much pain and discomfort; at that point he was told only a total knee replacement could help him. He is otherwise healthy. On exam he had point tenderness to the medial side of the left knee (medical ingo: inner side). An X-ray showed severe arthritis of the knee (X-ray on the left above). Patient started receiving treatments at The Center for Regenerative Medicine. Today he is feeling better (X-ray on the right above.) This is how it works: The physician introduces Cell Therapy into damanged, arthritic cells by means of a precise injection. This process is followed by several other modalities, including Collateral Artery Flow Exercises (C.A.F.E.), in order to accelerate the process. Depending on tissue damage, severity of the condition and the size of the joint that needs to be injected, people usually need a series of 1 to 6 treatments to improve. There is usually no downtime, and people can go back to their usual activities or work immediately. The treatments can help most musculoskeletal problems such as low back pain, neck pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, whiplash, sciatica, tendinitis, sprain, strains, torn ligaments and cartilage damage. Located in Miami, Florida, The Center for Regenerative Medicine includes a team of professionals that are dedicated to improve your quality of life, paving the way to enhance the science of non-surgical orthopedic medicine. World champions, sports legends, professional and amateur athletes, dancers, and people with just plain pain and arthritis go to The Center for Regenerative Medicine for nonsurgical orthopedic care. Using the facility to improve their condition, thousands of successful cases have been treated over the past fifteen years. Lakes voters to have final say Dade Christian Carnival runs Feb. 18-21 Dade Christian School, 6601 on taking back tax districts N.W. 167 Street, is holding its Last month, the Miami-Dade County Commission, on a 11-0 vote, gave its final nod for an ordinance to turn over the special taxing districts to local municipalities, which would be placed on a referendum in August to determine if residents approve of their cities operating the mechanism to improve services not otherwise equitably rendered to certain areas. For Miami Lakes, if residents approve the ballot item, the Town would take over the special taxing districts for street lighting and guard gates that the county has provided for more than 30 years. The Town would also take over the mechanism for maintaining the canals in the areas of Lake Patricia and Lake Hilda if residents approve a separate ballot item to create a new special taxing district for water improvements.
The ordinance to turn over the special taxing districts to local cities was sponsored by Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr., and cosponsored by Commissioners Sally Heyman and Juan Zapata According to the county, residents must approve the referendum for a charter change for the turnover to be official. If so, the Town would close the existing special taxing districts by settling any debts with the county and opening up new special taxing districts within Miami Lakes. The same tax amount MiamiDade charged to residents to operate the districts should apply to the new ones, according to county officials. leges recruited Clanton and Arenas based on their performances during their junior and sophomore seasons. Clanton, who finished with 23 goals and 13 assists her junior year, said she chose the University of West Alabama because they met her academic and athletic needs. “I love Alabama in general and visiting the college there was awesome,” she said. “I love the countryside, where everyone is so welcoming. The coaches treated me well, they made me feel like I was already part of the team.” As a kid, Clanton said she stayed busy by playing soccer and practicing karate and gymnastics. She developed a passion for soccer and followed her heart, which led her to being named to The Miami Herald All-Dade Team. Arenas, who has a 3.6 GPA, said he chose to attend Barry University to join its elite soccer team. During his visit, the coaches and his future teammates made him feel like part of the team when he practiced with the group. “The experience and campus was nice,” he said. Arenas recorded 25 goals and seven assists during his junior season; some of those goals were scored on Barry University’s field, where the Crusaders played some of their games. “I played there twice and the atmosphere was nice,” he said. “I can’t wait to play there again.”
Goleman baseball team wins PAL Miami Beach tourney with 15-0 shut out of Mourning High
BARBARA GOLEMAN’S baseball team won the Police Athletic League-Miami Beach Tournament with a 15-0 shut out victory over Mourning High School last week and a 4-0 start to the season. Last year, the team finished the regular season 19-2, including winning the Hall of Fame Classic Tournament by beating then No.3 state ranked Stoneman Douglas and powerhouse Colorado’s Fairview High School. But the Gators lost in the first round of the regional playoffs for the second consecutive year.
Mater Academy basketball team defeats Goleman in Regional game There will be no postseason rematch between district foes Mater Academy and Barbara Goleman High boy’s basketball team, as Mater beat the Gators, 75-38, in the 4-7A regional quarterfinal, while the Lions defeated Southeastern Nova, 64-31, to advance to play the Mustangs in the regional semifinal this week. Mater clobbered the Gators, 59-23, to win the district championship and Goleman was seeking
a rematch to avenge the postseason loss. But Mater spoiled their chances, as 14 of its 27 fields goals came off assists from nine different players, and the Lions out rebounded the Gators 28-16. Guard Jake Rodriguez led Goleman scoring with 11 of his 16 points in the first quarter but his teammates were no match for the opposing players.

‘Hands-on Learning’ leads to Jose Marti MAST Teacher of the Year honor for Paul Dean Jose Marti MAST 6-12 Academy, located at 5701 West 24 Avenue in Hialeah, is a full Magnet School that educates many children from Miami Lakes. The school’s motto is “Where Learning Means More Doing” and provides the ideal environment for this year’s Teacher of the Year, Paul Dean. Dean, who has been at the school for three years, thrives on “hands-on learning” while teaching chemistry, physics and various science based research classes taught at the school. One of his main practices is ‘flipping’ the
classroom and the gradual release instructional model. Dean has found that students need a greater sense of confidence. The flipped classroom model asks students to fully read the material first, and then seek supportive resources or a “second voice.” They are now prepared for lecture and they need not focus their efforts on scrambling to write everything down, but rather they are actively listening and able to fill in the areas where the reading or material may have been confusing.

Under Pla-Guzman’s tutelage, the Pace drama program has qualified for State competitions for nine straight years. Nineteen Pace thespians competed in District competitions, with Pace senior Leslie Castiblanco taking home the Critic’s Choice Best in District award for Costume Design. Pace thespians won Superiors (First Place) in the categories of Large Group, Monologue, Duet Acting, Duet Musical, and Costume Design, with two awards in both the Solo Musical and Publicity Design categories. They
also won Excellents (Second Place) in the categories of Small Group Musical and Solo Musical, including two Excellents in both Monologue and Playwriting. As a result of their award-winning performances, seniors Antonio Rodriguez, Victoria Jebian, and Therese Callison were called to give scholarship auditions at the competitions. The Pace thespians will be competing for the ninth straight time at the International Thespian Society’s State competitions in March. Pace’s Drama program is currently preparing for its spring musical production of Chicago, with performances on April 20, 21, and 22.

Pace High welcomes professionals and alumni for 2016 Career Day By Rene D. Basulto Special to The Miami Laker Around 55 professionals from a plethora of careers shared their expertise at Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s annual Career Day on February 5. Students spent the day traveling from class to class, learning about jobs as varied as engineers and politicians, to artists and flight medics. They got a first-hand look at K9 dog units, a bomb defusing robot from the City of Miami’s Bomb Squad, and a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue helicopter which landed on Pace’s soccer field. Marcos De La Rosa, City of Coral Gables Deputy Fire Chief and a Pace Class of 1986 alumnus, was on the field as part of this presentation. Many of the professionals were alumni returning to their alma mater, including Miami Lakes Councilmembers Nelson Rodriguez, a Class of 1987 alumnus, and Manny Cid, a Class of 2002 alumnus. Christopher Caproni, Esq. a trial attorney with Kanner & Pintaluga who graduated from Pace in 2008, was one such attendee. He spoke about his job as a lawyer, his time at the University of Florida’s Law School and how students can stay
