This building is the story of Otago street. It is a story which starts long before entering the building itself. It starts with the shifts in scenery; between cityscape and natural landscape. Continuing on into the building this journey through different settings continues.

The institute is to hold a collection of celtic folklore. The connection to nature and water is very strong within these tales, and this has also been crucial in creating the institute. Although many know the stories and they have been written down in several variations there is no one place to go

for a collection of these stories and I think they deserve their own building. This gives the oppurtunity to collect them, and to make them available, not only in their written form but in their spoken and shared one as well.

Internally the rooms facing south will get direct sunlight alowing for a play with shadows through different screens. North facing rooms get a more diffused light and have traditional windows. The top rooms

turns towards sky and create an experience of standing beneath the open sky. The frames of the glazed roof are hidden away from view, and the roof casts a shadow over the opening to prevent from over heating. Midwinter 15:00

Exhibition space on top of stairs The slim columns on the south east side of the building are set along three lines each with its own rythm, occasionally lining up. When taking a closer look one might find the logic behind the position of the colums but at a first glance their specific positions might seem random.
