somewhere in a little town in england,

Cinema Gold is the hopeful gallery of musical self portraits and riddling reveals. The music is personal, nonchalant, impulsive and influenced by the background, our backgrounds and everything around us. We’re definitely feeding nostalgia and those dreamers of the past with the sounds but we’re pushing the boundaries as far as bloated salaries will let us.

there’s lots of time for growing up.

I’ve always been knocking out little ideas for songs but that’s just the equivalent of ‘knocking one out’ and then no one helps with your mess. Over the last year I’d been feeling musically sleepy, head tipped back, hat over the eyes - so it’s nice to slowly wake up from that creative hangover and face the heaters. Yes, heaters. Come warm me up. Burn me, sweet music scene.

uppers and downers and everything around us.

I’ve been inspired by 80s music and drum machine sounds from that era. I didn’t want to play a normal acoustic drum kit in the band, but rather create my own drum sounds and play them on my sample pad. The two main inspirations for me have got to be Phil Collins and George Daniel (The 1975).

Cinema Gold is three people battling self-doubt and high standards whilst emulating what’s in their ears at the time. We all want it to be more than just a song or a gig. We’re all very keen on musicians who can transform a gig into an atmosphere. Like in a real cinema, we want our audience to get sucked in by awe and magic. If I could quantify how Daniel Johnston can silence a whole room; or how Sonic Boom’s out of tune singing and lacking musical ability can cause an entire genre, I’d be a happy man.

I’m deeply in the glitter smokescreen magpies to champagne faces in the light beams (You know you’re not wanted but it’s got something to do with you Eyes for the boss at quarter to two)* It’s cold and you know who’s waiting there You can taste the room in every chair Heat paints your body your fingernails melt His skin feels like tin and he takes off your felt Rasputin surprise There’s still movement in the eyes All you remember is the sunshine that you held (You know you’re not wanted but it’s happening once more Eyes for the boss at quarter to four)*
