EXHIBITION SPACE
The project is the redevelopment of Derby’s Market Place and Assembly Rooms building. My proposal is to have an exciting new build in a modern style that will breath youth back to the declining area. Restaurants and retail are used at ground level to increase footfall. There is demand for an exhibition space in the centre of Derby, a rentable space will also add to generate revenue for the building, this is located in the heart of the proposed library. The focused use of this commercial and educational build will have positive economical effects on the city and invests in young peoples future.

ROOMS 02 ASSEMBLY INTERIORS SCHEME Backstage has an accessible toilet, sound room and a upstairs sitting room with live video streaming. The ceiling is designed to maximize natural light in a day lecture situation, diffusing glazing and reflections from the white ceiling will help scatter light to fill the whole space. Electric blinds are fitted to give full control on lighting. Walls laced with 3D acoustic panels help absorb sound and reduce the effects of reverberation, this will optimize the quality of the sound. Two tiers of seating having a maximum capacity of 700. Fold down seats maximize space when not in use. Small maintenance room is located at the back for lighting. Main entrance is located on the ground floor with a reception, the second entrance is via the business centre bridge.

BIOMORPHIC INFLUENCE
The form of the library was influenced by organic structures; balanced on the idea of growing knowledge, the staircases gradually spiral up the interior areas seamlessly. These biomorphic structures can be seen at all levels in detail including the intimate reading pod design, the set it bookcase shelves and the reception desk and counter that sweep down from the ceiling. The buildings positioning and atrium makes use of all available natural sunlight, an essential in an learning environment. The bridge into the commerical tower is a physical sign of how these worlds interact, encoraging greater social intergration.

ACTIVITY SQUARE
DESIGN
The disused market square needs new life. Inspiration from neighboring peak districts lead to the mountainous forms, using urban design tools to create connective paths and stimulate activity at noDes. The path carves through a higher ground creating a private sense of enclosure, water adds to the tranquility creating an ‘Oasis’ within the city center. Ground lighting inspired by the stem in a leaf guides pedestrians through a subtlety pre planned route. The activity square with high contrast colours and shape stimulates higher activity, the seating creates an individual area, highlighted by the landmark pavilions.

ROVE HOTELS
Worked with world renown property developers, EMAAR to design interior design schemes for six hotels in Dubai, UAE. The hotels were influenced from Dubai’s rich cultural history with a contemporary edge, suitable for an affordable market, hotels varied in contemporary and Arabic schemes. I gained vital experience in communication across big sites, language barriers, cultural understanding and using alternative metric and building regulations and methods. I was the coordinator of the drawing packs, under control of 100s of drawings it was my role to ensure packs were constantly updated to the latest client changes, including a series of plans, elevations and drawing up ever charging and new details as well as coordinating information across six sites. This project certainly taught me how to work on an international scale, designing to meet American regulations, increasing my adaptability and knowledge on a worldwide level.
HAMPTON BY HILTON
^
Lead designer for Phase 1 of Hampton by Hilton hotel, for ExCeL London. The concept was inspired by the location on the historic Royal Albert Docks leading to an industrial feel with the use of metals and ropes contrasting with fun pops of colour and modern twists inspired by the ExCeL center. The Hampton Brand is a midrange hotel suitable for business and leisure and the common room areas had to cater to this market. My role involved designing floor layouts, interior concepts and product specification. In this project I had to overcome challenging architecture restrictions: such as windows being set two meters above floor level, and columns blocking entrances.

LIBRARY
Refurbishment of lower ground and basement level of an old police station to be reused as the primary city center library for the University of Bath. Restricted natural light saw creative lighting techniques used to create a working atmosphere. The calm and soft vibe is ideal for studying, with a few features left to add character.

ACCOMMODATION
Working with the architecture team on the refurbishment of Mercury House in Bournemouth into a new Fresh Living university halls site. I assisted with the design of common areas, including designing and drawing details of a new office, tea point and bespoke furniture including a reception desk, letterbox hold and a surfboard art instillation. This circular building was extremely challenging in terms of bedroom layouts, although is now complete and full of happy students!
