Grammar in a Nutshell Three little words you often see, Are Articles a, an and the. A Noun is the name of anything As School or Garden, Hoop or Swing. A Verb tells something being done As Sing, Count, Laugh, Read, Jump or Run. Adjectives tell the kind of noun As Great, Small, Pretty, White or Brown. How something is done the Adverbs tell As Slowly, Quickly, Ill or Well. Instead of nouns the Pronouns stand As Her hair, His face, My arm, Your hand. Conjunctions join two words together As men and women, wind or weather. Prepositions go before a noun As in or through the door. An Interjection shows surprise As Oh, how pretty! Ah, how wise!
