Reading: “Man’s Creation and Relationships” by Gordon C. Olson pg. 1-7 of Harry Conn’s “Psychology – Trojan Horse” “Reflections on the Biblical Description of the Nature of Man” Questions: 1. What is the key word of the chapter by Gordon Olson? (Multiple Choice) a. Gordon b. Summary c. Relationship d. The 2. Do a brief summary of the chapter by Olson. 3. (In Conn’s article) What are the four distinct realms that God rules or governs over? 4. Define the “incipiency of the will”. 5. Explain why (according to Conn) there can be no such thing as “mental disease”.
6. In light of Rom. 1:29-32 below, express why it is that sin is a manner of living that is unnatural. In answering the question, consider also Deut 6:24: "So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as {it is} today.” Rom 1:29 So they are filled to the full with all unrighteousness, evil goals, greedy desires, and hateful emotions against the law. Their minds are filled with envy, murder, strife, deceit, and corrupted moral values. 30 They secretly speak evil of others, destroying their reputations. They hate God and insult others. They are braggarts living egotistical self-centered lives. They even invent new forms of evil. They are disobedient toward their parents. 31 They act stupidly. They are covenant breakers. Instead of living according to their natural family affections, they are heartless. 32 They already knew God’s declaration that those who do such things are worthy of death. Yet not only do they do them, but they encourage others to sin too.

Independent Study Nature of Man & Exodus NOM 1-2
Reading: pg. 1-15 of “The King’s Rule” by Larry Allen Exodus 1-13 Questions: 1. What are the two required characteristics which God has that qualifies Him as having the right to guide, direct, and control the affairs of mankind? 2. What is Physical Law? 3. Define influence. 4. Explain the difference between influence and a compelling force. 5. State the significance of I Cor.10:13 (There is no temptation...) in regard to influences. 6. On page 8 in The King’s Rule, the will is described as “the ability to … ” 7. Define: "Moral law". 8. In this night’s Exodus reading, write down two things that stood out to you. OPTIONAL – With any chapter, write down something that you would like to go back and study more in-depth at a later time (with any verse references).

Reading: pg. 16 - 40 of “The King’s Rule” by Larry Allen Exodus 14-18 Questions: 1. What is control using coercion? 2. Why must God sometimes use coercion on people? 3. Can God use causation in salvation? Why or why not? 4. According to the chart on p. 24-25 in King’s Rule, what are the seven differences between the physical realm law and the spiritual realm? 5. Using the same chart, reason through and answer the following: Why would a person receive no punishment or reward for anything done when he is used by God in causation/coercion? 6. Reading: “A Study of God’s Regulation…”, Exodus 19-40 Questions: 1. In II Timothy 2:20-22 Paul refers to vessels of honor and of dishonor. In this verse, what does Paul state that one must do to become a vessel of honor or dishonor? II Timothy 2:20-22 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts; but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
