A new music video from DreamingD Enterprises Premiering online June 22 @ www.MichaelRayDeLosAngeles.org
We've Got Some Gardens to Grow is a music video that encourages people to "spread the news" about the prevalence of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in consumer and private food crops. Simultaneously, the music video draws attention to the radiation levels currently in the pacific ocean-- a byproduct of the Fukushima nuclear reactor meltdown. Despite the dense content, the music video itself is light-hearted, family focused, and community driven. The music video aims to empower viewers with the comprehension that everyone can grow their own gardens; more so, that there are already community supported agricultural projects in the Northeast San Fernando Valley and all around Los Angeles. The music video is being produced by Doren Damico (DreamingD Enterprises), filmed by Violet Soto (Youth Speak Media), and edited and distributed by Michael Ray "De Los Angeles" Menjivar (The California Environmental Legacy Project, For Learners of All Ages Revolution). This core group has already begun documenting gardens within the Northeast San Fernando Valley-- most recently at Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural's Celebrating Words Festival, and the Earth Day Screening of Dirt: The Movie at the Pacoima City Hall. The final phase of filming will include several short filming sequences at various locations within Los Angeles, some of which have undeveloped green space. The inspiration for the song is rooted in a love for the natural world, and was constructed with the knowledge that we must preserve our natural resources for future generations. Collectively, we share a deep concern about the foods options that are currently embedded within our culture-- many of which are highly processed and/or imported. Thus, this collective has chosen to highlight the positive effects that are a result of community supported agriculture and home gardening. Doren Damico chooses a fun musical presentation and background in educationto share a simple vision being spread throughout communities: We've got some gardens to grow! In difficult times where corporate and monetary interests far outweigh the health and well-being of people, please join us in this effort, by enjoying the film, sharing it with your friends, planting something healthy to eat in your own space, and supporting your local organic farms.
