LICKING RIVER BOAT HOU
USE
INITIATE W/
The Development of the project began with an initial site visit, a few
sketches and diagrams of the site, a preliminary idea of how to move about the site, and then a more developed idea as to how to create a useful structure for the site.
DEVELOP W/
The Sketch on the right shows a very small section that reveals the truly
expansive nature of the boat house. The drawing to the left focuses on the divisions in the landscape brought forth by the construction of a new building.
CREATE W/
The Model in chipboard and basswood allowed me to experiment with the
possible kinetic aspects of buildings. The digital model was mainly used as a way to further ellaborate upon an idea previously conceived.

INFORM W/
The Break Down of the site shows the majority of the surrounding area
being allocated to residential and commercial use. This information can be consolidated in a manner that can inform future decisions regarding what and how a new building should be introduced.
POETIC SEQUENCE
ANALYZE W/
The Collage enabled me to develop an idea purely through imagery.
Transforming words into images, and vise-versa, helped initiate the slurry of ideas that were to inform the next aspect of the project.

ITERATE W/
The Compilation was derived from devloping a sequence of spaces
from the previous diagrams brought forth by “the breakdown. Each drawing is an iteration meant to represent a different sequence of spaces.
IMPLEMENT W/
The Mass was the driving force behind this project, for I saw each protruding
mass as an opportunity to carve away from in order to reveal a sequence of unique interior and exterior spaces.
STUDIES IN LIGHT
EXPERIMENT W/
The Box Project was an exercise in manipulations of light. Each box was
guided by a different verb that dictated the moves that were to be made in order to allow light to enter into the box.

THE MASHRABIYA PROJECT
TRANSFORM W/
The Pattern of the mashrabiya was utilized in a way that involved manipulation of the pattern to create a new tessellation. The new tesselation guided the construction of a structure focused on the allowance of light and air to travel throught the space.
