Detroit Forum+High Speed Rail Spring 2016
Salvaged brick from Detroit’s many derelict buildings finds new life within the DETROIT FORUM.
Detroit Forum THE DETROIT FORUM is the product of a year-long proposal examining the possibility of a Midwestern High Speed Rail system that would connect Chicago to Toronto. Each group was tasked with designing one of the stations along the route, thinking about how it would contribute to its city as well as the overall system. By bridging over an underutilized stretch of expressway, The Forum erases a major barrier within the city’s fabric while offering a dynamic public space to be enjoyed by both high speed rail commuters and local Detroit citizens. The station spans several city blocks in order to connect two of the city’s new light rail routes so The Forum becomes an inter-modal hub of transportation, both public and personal.
|03|
By connecting The Forum to Detroit’s light-rail system, more of the city is within reach than ever before.
|04|
High speed rail, light-rail, cars and foot traffic converge to make the DETROIT FORUM the most connected station along the route.

Creative Hub+High Speed Rail Fall 2015
Structure and program blend together in the CREATIVE HUB to create a station of flexible spaces for a city in flux.
Detroit Creative Hub THE DETROIT CREATIVE HUB was the first half of a year-long proposal examining the possibility of a Midwestern High Speed Rail system that would connect Chicago to Toronto. Each group was tasked with designing one of the stations along the route, thinking about how it would contribute to its city as well as the overall system. After visiting Detroit and researching its vibrant creative scene that emerged as a result of its financial crisis, it was decided that the station should introduce travelers to this vibrancy as well as provide a central location for these once disparate creative initiatives to interact and synthesize. In order to ensure that the station would connect with the momentum that has already been developing within the city, the tracks have been re-routed along one of the many overbuilt highways to give the station a central location within Detroit.

Filter Park+Education Center Fall 2014
A much-needed programmed public space within Port Huron, MI that demonstrates responsible consumption.
Filter Park FILTER PARK aims to become a working example of responsible consumption, while providing the city of Port Huron much needed programmed public space. Port Huron has set a goal of bringing a greater density to downtown. If realized, these proposed developments could put a strain on the area’s outdated infrastructure. By providing pools of constructed wetlands, the site becomes and interactive park which demonstrates on-site natural water filtration The filtered water is then fed into the newly dug bay which creates a protected recreational waterway. The EDUCATION CENTER consists of a main exhibition hall suitable for rotating programs. An elevated arm wraps the main hall as well as provides more intimate learning facilities. The elevated arm is partially obscured by skewed vertical elements which support the auditorium overlooking the new bay.

Star Cabin Fall 2013
Star Cabin STAR CABIN, meant to serve as a small retreat, draws inspiration from one of the most beautiful difference between urban living and life in the wilderness: a starry night sky. The main view out of the cabin, given in the form a skylight running the length of the cabin, is towards the sky allowing it to remain present even while indoors. Small portholes in the side of the cabin allow light to filter in during the day, while turning the cabin into a glowing lantern at night.

Bird Blind Fall 2012
Bird Blind Set along Chicago’s unique lake front, this BIRD BLIND allows users to observe the city’s many migratory birds, while reaming obscured from the wild life. The twisting wooden structure creates an elegant pavilion, while offering views out in every direction. The adaptable members of the structure allow for similar pavilions to be deployed in multiple sites around the city, all of which create drastically different experiences.

|EXPERIENCE| VOA Associates May 2013 - Present During my time at VOA Associates I worked with a number of different design teams across multiple VOA offices on projects including mixed use commercial, residential, hospitality, and entertainment + cultural. One of my major roles dealt with the research and implementation of new digital design methods that could be applied to VOA projects. Through my strong knowledge of these digital design tools I assisted in the creation of a team within VOA dedicated to advancing the design of various projects through their utilization. Projects I worked on within this team include proposals for high-rise faรงade systems, panelized feature walls, as well as translating complex geometry into workable models to be further developed. Another aspect of my position included working closely with VOA BIM coordinators to oversee the roll out and standardization of new design workflows throughout the firm. In this capacity I was tasked with creating several demonstrations/tutorials to showcase these new workflows and how they could potentially apply to ongoing and future VOA projects.
Professional Paving & Concrete Summer 2012 While at Professional Paving + Concrete, I managed the acquisition of building permits in order to make sure jobs could begin and be completed while adhering to an efficient timeline. While jobs were underway I spent time working as on-site vehicle management, tracking vehicle locations and load to maximize vehicle utilization while minimizing material waste.
