Adding Content to LinkedIn final

Like Facebook, you can put your thoughts “out there”. In LinkedIn, this is called Start a discussion

This can be along the lines of this, that Veronica posted in early August: o

I am interested in what departments are doing regarding employee attitude surveys and 360 degree feedback processes and would appreciate some comments. What's working well, star providers, etc...

o

Easy as that – just type it in, and its up there

If you want to add a document, this is a bit harder, as you can only post a link, not attach a file

So if you want to add a link, go ahead

But if you want to attach a document, you first have to post it to a web location other than LinkedIn

I set up an account for myself on ISSUU for free, but there are many other file sharing websites that are free

So, if you wanted to do this, here is what you do…

Create your document o

In Word, needs to be a .doc, not .docx, so use the earlier Word save format

o

Or, from Word, create a .pdf document – this is probably the better option

Go to issuu.com and you’ll see this:

Create an account – first time only, otherwise login

Hit the upload button o

Hit the browse button and find your document in your PC or network

o

You need to complete the “general info”: give it a title; description;

o

it will give it the web name

o

you also need to add keywords – just trial and error as to what it will accept (for this I used “news, linkedin”

o

Type – generally I hit “other”

Once you hit upload file, you will get this screen if successful

Once successfully uploaded, your uploaded files will display like this:

Back at Linked in, you can add the web link. This will be sent to you by ISSUU once the upload has been completed.
