THE PAST OPENS UP THE FUTURE When Anne & Joshua Vincent, two lawyers living in Chicago, bought their home in the Lincoln Park neighborhood they knew they found the Home they would love for the rest of their lives. 25 years later and their home was ready for a complete update. The Plans When planning the interior architecture of the home I ultimately decided on an open floor plan. Each area complements the next with the option of closing the space off using pocket doors as needed.Â

The First Floor is all about entertaining, we kept the floor plan open and the furniture layouts a balance between comfortable and formal. When you first enter the space you are greeted with a luxurious grand stone and wood fireplace, it's very dramatic. Pair it with an overscaled piece of artwork it's a great wow factor and lets you know that although the house is narrow and space limited, the design won't be. Your eye can see everything that's going on between living, dining, and cooking. Everyone is together. Throughout the home, I kept the color palette simple, not using anything flashy. The materials are what really sing throughout the home, creating effortless layers and depth.

All the appliances in the Kitchen were integrated into the shop painted faceframed cabinetry. I choose face frame because of its built-in characteristics, painting them to add warmth and to create the awareness that this isn't a new house. It pays tribute to the original Chicago home the Client fell in love with.

The Laundry Room is a unique space, we integrated the appliance into the cabinetry with inset leather wrapped panels and heavy bronze hardware it can stand up to a lot of heavy use. This room also allows a short buffer zone between the powder bathroom and public space. It gives extra storage and can easily tuck everything away for the occasions of backyard entertaining when people will be passing through.

Shown Above are the Shop Drawings for the Bespoke Cabinetry

The second floor is all about home comfort and while still having the effortless luxury we saw on the first floor. The Family Room and Home Office (Shown above.) are finished with softer materials and create moments to sooth the Client.

HEART OF THE HOME When Mark and his wife went to remodel their 70s style home they knew that the kitchen needed the most attention. During the Summer the house is never empty and with the generous backyard right off the kitchen space, it's always in use. We wanted to keep the layout open and the finishes clean & durable. Neighborhood: Highland Park SQ. FT. 614 Summer 2018 Programs: AutoCAD, Photoshop

When it came to selecting the finishes we knew we wanted to do a white high gloss lacquer. We opted for lacquer because of it durability, high quality feel and clean reflective properties. We complimented the kitchen with a warm dark oak on the Island and Tall appliance wall, this adds visual depth and warmth to such a crisp space.

The hidden Pantry Door is what really sets this kitchen apart from a normal Contemporary Kitchen. Using pivot hinges, a floor magnet door stop & high attention to detail, what most people think is a tall cabinet opens up to a walk-in pantry.

BACHELOR LIVING When Karim found himself a new job in downtown Chicago he knew this where he was meant to be. Purchasing an industrial loft in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood he needed Home Elements to help finish up the Living Room, Dining Room & Guest Bedroom before being able to call it home. Working with the already renovated black kitchen we completed this project using Italian contemporary furniture in a mix of different rich & durable materials. Neighborhood: West Loop SQ. FT. 750 Summer 2017

One of Karim's biggest priorities in the living room was to have enough seating for his friends & familythat would be frequently used. With ghost glass on the coffee table, leather lounge chairs and a sofa that has a removable cover - it was just what he needed.

The Plan The furniture layouts were kept simple, we were working within an existing layout and Karim wasn't wanting to do anything extensive to the space. We kept the furniture plan simple, providing enough seating and standing room for entertaining guest without feeling crowded.

The dining room chairs are a nice surprise, their seat covered in a subtle stripped fabric becomes a charming detail when they are exposed when pulled away from the table.Â

The Astor Street Apartment Residing in Glenview for most of the year, Jennifer and Mark were looking for a home away from home. Tucked in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, was a charming transitional styled Condo, it was the perfect getaway. Neighborhood: Streeterville SQ. FT. 3,975  Summer 2018 Programs: Photoshop, Sketchup + Podium, AutoCAD

The Plan Sticking to the original room layout the furniture placement within each space was for a simple goal, to provoke conversation and bonding. There's a slight separation between public and private spaces, but with most of the guest being family we tried to keep everything with all the comforts of home with a 5-star Hotel feel.

Getting there... Demolition Plan The existing home was blessed with good bones so there wasn't a lot of work needed on the demolition side, most of our work came in the overall esthetics.

Construction Plan The greatest difficulty in construction was matching to existing, you have to be able to source a good tradesman to not only match forms but finish acceptance so that the new blends perfectly with the old.

The Gallery is one of the first rooms of the house, with it ceiling finished with gold leaf and the architectural millwork on the walls it's the simple luxuries the really set the tones throughout. The clients don't like a lot of furniture, they prefer a subtle touch with more attention paid into details & materials.Â

The living room is right off of the Gallery and also connects to both the Library and Dining Room. Keeping the color palette fairly monochromatic, the materials are highly contrasting and easily cleanable.Â

The Master Bedroom is more dramatic compared to most of the house. The bold ceiling color and the mix of lighting really help pull out a dark sophistication.Â

The Master Bathroom is finished in Jade Onyx and brass hardware it really exudes the sense of a spa-like luxury.Â
