Estro is a brand inspired by the 90s vibe that approaches youth more as a mindset than an age. Clothing remains a form of rebellion and that is why the Estro-wearer goes against the stream, ignoring the unwritten rules. The clothing talks, having as much to say as you do. Think of distressed fabrics, oversized yet simple silhouettes combined with outspoken, bold colours.

I took inspiration from ‘WE MAKE CARPETS’ a collective of artists based in Amsterdam. They use everyday objects and turn them into unplanned art, giving them a new meaning. I took one of their artworks and translated their design into a pattern to use in my garments.

Estro is a sub brand that uses defective and leftover fabrics from previous Marni and Nike collections. Because ‘waste’ is used throughout the collection, each garment will vary in appearance as it is dependent on the material that is available, this means each owner gets an unique garment.‘No time to waste’ is a way to support our brand message in an interesting way and appeals to the younger generation.

In order to develop my fashion illustration skills I completed a personal project that focuses on collage technique and helped me to explore new ways of executing designs. The final result was an illustrative style that reflected my own aesthetic while combining the brand of Marni x Nike.

To find the appropriate illustration style for my final collection I had to capture who my muse was. I did this by creating a series of designs and images that reflect the mood of the ‘Estro guy’.
