Cllr Carol Ainge Reporting to You Over the last seven years I have, as your local councillor, been pleased to assist hundreds of residents needing help and advice. Whilst I undertake all the meetings that I have to attend on your behalf, I truly believe that helping the residents is the most important part of being a councillor and I have been honoured by your continuing support. I hope that all residents will always feel that they can come to me whatever their problem, and whoever they voted for. I am at your service whenever you need me, contact me at: carol.ainge@bournemouth.gov.uk

Weather Won’t Beat Us! The now established Cyril Gardens Fun Day was sadly cancelled for safety reasons due to extremely windy weather associated with ex-Hurricane Bertha. But we will not be deterred! The Fun Day will now be held on the 29th November at the Moose Hall, Malmesbury Park Road, Charminster, 12-5pm. Watch out for the leaflet, come have some fun and maybe do some Christmas shopping! Many thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard for weeks beforehand.

Lowther Road to be resurfaced Residents of Lowther Road will be pleased to learn that after many years of suffering lumps, bumps, and potholes, at last, Carol has been assured that the road and pavements will shortly be re-surfaced!

Local Improvement Fund All Councillors receive £1,500 each year to personally spend in their own ward for small improvements that would otherwise never be considered by the Council. This year Carol has given monies to the Local Traders Association towards the wonderful pedestal flower displays on the main road that can be enjoyed by all the residents of Queens Park and Charminster. Carol has also donated funds to the Playgroup at St Andrews Church in Bennett Road.

Legacy of New Queen’s Park Play Area The new and long awaited play area in Queen’s Park opened in August 2013. Carol supported the plans for its construction against objections from some of the Park’s golfers.

“It is a wonderful success and just to stand there and see how many children play so happily and healthily is heartwarming.”

Carol knew that the facility was much needed in the community, saying: “so many children in our ward live in flats, with no outside areas for them to play, so having somewhere safe for them to go was desperately needed... Queens Park is not a private golf course, it belongs to everybody.” Carol went on to say: “It has been a wonderful success and just to stand there and see how many children play happily and healthily is heart-warming.” In addition to the kid’s area, there is also a new Terrace Cafe and Bar in Queen’s Park, alongside a number of improvements to the Pavilion building and its surroundings, including the installation of new toilets and baby changing facilities.
