Our Programs

When

I was teaching in public schools, I worked with hundreds of children from Kindergarten through Grade 8. As a teacher, I would constantly ask, “How can I cultivate my students as learners?” For indeed no lesson is worth anything if the children cannot, for whatever reason, learn it well. What joy it would be to cultivate a classroom of children who showed active engagement, eagerness to learn, focused energy, and true presence of mind in class.

Green Beans (Ages 2.9-Kindergarten) Green Beans are our little yogis, who dance, sing, balance and boogie their way to a strong practice. In these classes we use games, dancing, storytelling and imagination to guide and inspire our youngest practitioners. Green Sprouts (K-Grade 3) Our Sprouts are ready to reach for new heights in yoga. We open with breathing, stretching and twisting, and move on to strength, balance, and concentration games. Enter the forest and dive under the sea with your yoga practice to support you.

Kids Love Yoga at Green Tea

Some years ago, I participated in a wonderful, life-changing program on Yoga for Children run by Marsha Metzger at her Color Me Yoga School in Wenham, MA. I hoped to use yoga techniques to help my public school students stay both peaceful and focused. I found that yoga calmed the overexcited child, woke up the unstimulated child, and created a more positive classroom environment.

Tea Leaves (Grades 4-6) Turn over a new leaf in our intermediate children’s class. We use a trip around the world and into space to inspire this strong group. We also explore our relationships to friends, family and the world to make new discoveries about ourselves in class.
