SOBOLEWSKI, CHESTER Cleo (Laurie) Schussler, age 69, of Grand Rapids passed away Thursday February 9, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Melissa, and brother, Roger. Surviving are her best friend, Clair Bosma, children, Tonya (Paul), Marion (Pete), Mark, Rose (Juan), Gina, seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers, John (Linda), Warren (Cheri), Roger, Jerry Hull, sisters, Melodie, Kristie, Becky (Bobby) and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday 11:30 am at the Arsulowicz Brothers West Mortuary, 585 Stocking NW. Her family will receive visitors Monday 6-9 pm and Tuesday 9:30 am-11:30 am at the funeral home. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions toward funeral expenses will be appreciated.

Mr. Chester A. Sobolewski aged 89, of Grand Rapids, a Veteran of WWII, passed away Wednesday February 1st, 2017. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends. He was a member of VFW Post 459 and a retiree of American Seating. The family will receive close friends at a small prayer service at the Chapel of Holy Cross Cemetery, 2000 Walker NW Grand Rapids, MI 49504, Monday February 20th at 12 noon.

SEGAVAC, MARGARET aged 86, of Grand Rapids, passed away on February 5, 2017. She was known by family and friends as Peg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, the love of her life. She is survived by her children, Marianne Wilfing, Donald (Karen) Segavac, Nancy (William) Siegmund, Ellen (Bob) Ellis, and Steven Segavac; 11 grandchildren; 1 greatgrandchild; and many nieces and nephews. She attended Girls Catholic Central High in Detroit, class of 1948, and worked at the Grand Rapids Press Club for 27 years. Peg stated she had a great life filled with many friends and two special friends, Rosemary Starrs and Pat Barense, who provided a lot of laughs and many great memories for her. THOMAS, MARCIA 2/6/1933 - 2/9/2017 Fort Worth Marcia Lee Thomas, 84, of Fort Worth, Texas, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 9:10 am in Fort Worth, TX. Born February 6, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Evelyn Bauman. She graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids in 1950 and married Donald Eugene Thomas on July 12, 1952. At the age of 50, Marcia started college to become a nurse, and in three short years she graduated with honors and became a Registered Nurse. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of nearly 65 years, Donald; her children, Mark Thomas and wife Melissa, Kimberlee Bearden and husband Ross, Saralyn Smith and husband Phillip, Cory Thomas and wife Catharine; her sister, Sharon Heath; her nephew, Michael Saylor and niece, Dawn Duncan. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twentyone great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. It was Marcia and Donald’s wish that no memorial be held until they can be together again.

TIMMER, NANCY Age 85 of Grand Rapids went home to her Lord and Savior Saturday February 4, 2017. She was born in Grand Rapids, graduated from Ottawa Hills in 1949 and enrolled and earned her RN from Butterworth School of Nursing in 1952. She made a career helping people, working many years at Kent Oaks Hospital. She is survived by her children Rick Amann (Terri), Bob Amann (Cathy), and Jim Amann ( Rene). She was Grandma to Ben Amann (Brittan), Mike Amann (Kelly), and Emily Jones (Adam) and Great Grandma to eight young ones. Nancy was many things, but most importantly she was a Christian woman who positively burned with a consuming passion for her Lord Jesus. She was the very definition of a prayer warrior. Her mission was to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with anyone who would listen. She cared deeply both for people, and her Nation. Although she will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing she was welcomed home with the words, “Well done good and faithful servant.” Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Rd. S.E., Grand Rapids. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 11:00 a.m. at Ada Christian Reformed Church, 7152 Bradfield St SE, Ada. Pastor Scott Van Voorst officiating. VINKEMULDER, JAMES James R. “Jim” Vinkemulder of Caledonia, MI, age 68, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017. He is survived by sons Jason (Susan) Vinkemulder of Spring Lake, MI, and Rudy (Anne) Vinkemulder of East Grand Rapids, MI, and four grandchildren: Carmen, Katherine, Lydia, and Jacob. Born on January 19, 1949, Jim was the son of Virginia Vinkemulder Tinkham and Bernard Vinkemulder, both of whom predeceased him. In 2008, Jim was predeceased by his former wife, Jane Alice Grey (Jason and Rudy’s mother), whom he married in 1968. Jim is survived by his sister, Linda (Dirk) Hitchcock. Growing up on Reeds Lake, in East Grand Rapids, was the beginning of Jim’s lifelong love of the water, which he shared with his family. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing with Jason and Rudy, and eventually their children, on Michigan’s beautiful waters, especially Elk Lake when his sons were young, and White Lake in recent years. Hot, sunny boating days were Jim’s favorite. An avid outdoorsman, Jim was a motorcycle enthusiast as well. A proud grandfather who loved watching his grandchildren at their various activities, Jim never hesitated to tell them how much he loved them. Jim was employed for many years as a pilot with Rapid Air at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Grand Rapids. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4-6 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service, 4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. WALLACE, ROBERT BRUCE 3/15/1940 - 2/7/2017 Lake Panasoffkee, Florida Robert Bruce Wallace, age 76 of Lake Panasoffkee, Florida passed away at his home on February 7, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Robert was born to Robert and Vera Wallace in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enjoyed working for the Grand Rapids Press until he retired to Florida. Robert was a kind, loving, caring man to everyone he encountered and will be greatly missed by all. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Vera Wallace. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, step-son Johnny Gilbault, a brother Ted (Marie) Wallace, sisters Olive Jean Brown, Mary VanderMolen, Marie Alward, Diana (Alto) Goodspeed and several nieces and nephews. WENZEL, ROBERT “BOB” Robert “Bob” Wenzel, aged 73 of Wyoming, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 10, 2017. He was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Lexi and Lindy Hoogterp. Bob was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who treasured his family. His gift of humor made many fun memories together. Bob retired from Country Fresh after 32 years of faithful service. He was an avid Tigers baseball fan and loved his country music. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Linda; children, Tom (Amy) Wenzel, Marci (Jeff) Hoogterp; grandchildren, Ally, Sullie, and Sadie; and many loving extended family. ZANDBERGEN - Margaret “Peggy” Helen Zandbergen (Brown), age 82, went Home to be with the Lord on February 9, 2017. Peggy was born to Lylah and Lawrence M. Brown on September 12, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Peggy married Delbert Zandbergen, Jr. in 1952, who preceded her in death in 1986. Also preceding Peggy in death were brothers- and sisters-inlaw: Lewis Zandbergen, Ted and Helen Zondervan, Pat Zandbergen and Sharon Zandbergen. Del owned the Zandbergen’s Wholesale Meats until his death. Peg was a domestic engineer. Together they raised their five children in Grandville, Michigan. Peggy was a member of First Reformed Church of Grandville since 1952. Peggy is survived by twin brothers, Larry (Diana) Brown and Lynn (Ruth) Brown. Also surviving Peggy are her children, daughter Cheryl (Thomas) Kastelz, and four sons, Steven (Dianne) Zandbergen, Scott (Kimberly) Zandbergen, Randall Zandbergen, and Todd Zandbergen; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Karli and Brian Sanders; Kandice and Patrick Sloop, Kreg and Becky Kastelz, Jessica Kastelz, Alexandra Kastelz, Markia Kastelz, Kristina Kastelz, Zachary Zandbergen, Ezekiel Zandbergen, Mandi and Brandon Byker, Maxwell Zandbergen; greatgrandchildren: Sofie, Harper and Beckett Sanders; Adeline and Blakely Sloop, Summer Roon, Kirk Kastelz; brothersand sister-in-laws: Donald (Karen) Zandbergen, Ronald (Terry) Zandbergen, Marcia (Donald) Osterink, and Thomas (Arlene Zandbergen); and many nieces and nephews. Peggy’s memorial service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at First Reformed Church of Grandville, 3060 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville. Relatives and friends may meet her family from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, February 13, at the Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, and Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of her service at church. age 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born in Ada, MI in the winter of 1937 to her parents, Leonard and Laura Misner. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cathy (Jack) Ditmar and Barbara LaPonsie; grandchildren, Derick (Janelle) Goltz, Jennifer (Cavan) Carlson, Mariah LaPonsie, Jacqueline (Dustin) Vosburg, and James LaPonsie III; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Maison and Doris Haner; and her best friend of over 60 years, Maggie See. A Celebration of Helen’s life will be on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.
