Rex Linn buys fourbedroom Sherman Oaks house For 20 years, he rented a John Lautnerdesigned home, but now that he’s engaged, he wants something a little bigger. lauren beale rex linn

After a two-year house hunt, “CSI: Miami” star Rex Linn has bought a Sherman Oaks home for $1,415,000. The 3,355-square-foot home he will share with fiancée Renee DeRese has amenities Linn should enjoy: a solar-heated swimming pool, a backyard cabana bar and a fire pit. There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms. But the most important feature to Linn is the kitchen. An enthusiastic cook who likes to smoke and barbecue meats, he has been operating out of an 8-foot-long kitchen with a stove and small refrigerator and has been hand-washing his dishes for two decades. The new house, like his old one, will be the regular site of parties every fall Saturday. “I live for college football,” he said. The 1963 house he bought is in great shape, Linn said. “But I will add some Texas to it.” Linn, 53, has played Sgt. Frank Tripp on “CSI: Miami” since 2002. Much of the former banker’s acting career has been in movies. He describes “Cliffhanger” (1993) as the most important film in his life. “I was absolutely dead broke when I got that, I had never been in a movie and I got the fourth lead.” He also met actor John Lithgow then and they became fast friends. His other film work includes “Appaloosa” (2008), “Rush Hour” (1998) and “Tin Cup” (1996). That’s $475,000 more than he paid for it back in 2016 and $61,000 more than he listed it for in February. According to the Multiple Listing Service, he found a buyer in 10 days. Hurst made a few changes during his stay, adding a wood garage door and touching up the living spaces with fresh paint, farmhouse lighting and wide-plank European oak floors. Former Encino home of actress Maureen O’Hara finds a buyer Built in the ‘60s, the single-story whitewashed Midcentury has four bedrooms in about 3,400 square feet. jack flemming

In Encino, a stylish 1960s Midcentury once owned by Maureen O’Hara has sold for $1.505 million. O’Hara, an Irish-born actress who starred in dozens of films during the Golden Age of Hollywood, took a loss on the home in the ‘90s, buying it for $650,000 in 1993 and selling it four years later for $525,000. The all-white abode is tucked behind gates on a secluded hillside lot of nearly an acre. The front of the property has three garage spaces and a pair of stone lions guarding the entry, and the back expands to a swimming pool and diving board, which can be seen from a spacious wooden deck. Whitewashed brick and glass block windows frame the doubledoor entry. Inside, highlights include a sky-lighted foyer, rounded wet bar and wine cellar. Three columns line the open floor plan, leading to a living room with a fireplace and chandelier-topped dining area with four sets of French doors. Elsewhere are four bedrooms and four bathrooms in about 3,400 square feet. Mirrored walls touch up the office and master suite. Howard Bragman Lists East Coast Traditional in Suburban Los Angeles m a r k dav i d

Howard Bragman, for many years one of Hollywood’s most powerful and plugged-in PR gurus and crisis management specialists, has put his home in L.A.’s once unsung but increasingly trendy and expensive Valley Village area up for sale at a smidgen under $2.3 million. Tax records show that Bragman, who’s been described as the “go-to publicist for celebrities to come out of the closet,” and whose high-profile clients are reported to include Camille Grammer, Chaz Bono, Petra Ecclestone and Stevie Wonder, purchased the then brand-new home in early 2013 for almost $1.6 million. Described as an “East Coast Traditional” in listings, the suburban San Fernando Valley home sits amid grassy gardens behind secured gates and a charming white picket fence with five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in a little more than 4,200 square feet. Just inside the front door, a long slender entrance hall and double-height stair gallery lead to adjoining formal living and dining rooms, the former with a fireplace and the latter large enough to accommodate eight around a huge round table under a coffered ceiling treatment. At the rear of the house, a spacious, L-shaped great room incorporates a marble-countered gourmet kitchen arranged around a huge island snack bar. One side of the kitchen is open to a light-filled informal dining area and another to a family room with a stone fireplace between floor-to-ceiling built-in display cases. French doors provide convenient access to the backyard. An en suite downstairs bedroom is outfitted as a gym and three more bedrooms – one of them en suite and the other two with a shared hall bath – are joined on the second floor by a master suite that features a beamed and vaulted ceiling, a tile-accented fireplace, a fitted walk-in closet and a handsome, marble-floored bathroom with a glitzy chandelier hanging over a deep soaking tub. Hemmed in by a variety of plantings that enhance privacy, the not especially large backyard manages to comfortably include a covered porch for al fresco dining and lounging, a built-in grill and a tile-lined swimming pool and spa. Leonardo DiCaprio Lists 1930s Ranch-Style House in Studio City m a r k dav i d

Leonardo DiCaprio is clearly in the mood to lighten his real estate load. Just a week after he put a beachfront house on Malibu’s swankified Carbon Beach up for sale with an asking price of $10.95 million and, amid recent reports of his social and professional ties to several jet setting financiers involved in a multi-billion dollar Malaysian fraud scheme, he listed a far more modest home he owns in the popular Colfax Meadows neighborhood in Studio City with an asking price of $2.395 million. Mister DiCaprio purchased the San Fernando Valley house in March 2014 for $2.05 million from his cousin and business associate Robert Hrtica who, according to property records, acquired the property in late 2004 for $1.585 million.

leonardo dicaprio actor

The unassuming but comfortably spacious 3,407-square-foot residence, on just over one-third of an acre with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, was built in 1937 and is rather hyperbolically described in listing details as a “vintage California Ranch” of “grand distinction” that “celebrates 1930s historic architecture” and “lives in divine harmony with its organic setting.” The interiors, flooded with “transcendent light” through double-pane windows per listing descriptions, sport a vexatious and, by this property gossip’s utterly meaningless opinion, disharmonious variety of flooring options. Narrow gauge bamboo floors in the adjoining formal living and dining rooms, the former with fireplace and multi-paned glass doors that open to the front porch, switch to bizarrely green-stained parquet in the family room, which has a second fireplace and a long bank of French doors to the backyard, and then switch again to a classy herringbone pattern in the eat-in kitchen that features a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams, flannel grey granite counter tops on white cabinets and an up-to-date array of stainless steel designer appliances. The backyard is fully privatized with high hedges and a line of mature shade trees and incorporates red brick terracing, a vine-laden pergola for shaded lounging and al fresco dining, a swimming pool, and a generous sweep of lawn. Leonardo DiCaprio Has Two Los Angeles Homes for Sale The Oscar winner’s Malibu home, listed for $10.9 million, is in keeping with his image as one of Hollywood’s tenured playboys, while his $2.4 million Studio City pad reveals a more suburban side to the Oscar-winning star. Leonardo DiCaprio is unloading several pieces of his Los Angeles real estate portfolio, one of which is very much in keeping with his image as one of Hollywood’s tenured playboys, while the other reveals a more surprising, suburban side to the Oscar-winning actor. DiCaprio just listed a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Studio City that he quietly has owned since 2014. This $2.4 million listing comes just a week after the star put his Malibu spread, which is located on the exclusive stretch of coast called Carbon Beach, on the market for $10.9 million. Built in 1937, the 3,400-square-foot Studio City ranch home sits on a 15,000-square-foot lot in Colfax Meadows. It has an expansive front yard, verdant landscaping, a pool and an interior open-floor plan with French doors, “a palette of soothing neutrals,” high ceilings and a kitchen outfitted with Viking appliances. The Malibu home is a different story. The 1,765-square-foot two-story residence has a gated courtyard, a garage, wood floors and glass sliding doors that lead to a deck with a Jacuzzi, panoramic views and a private stairway to the beach where paparazzi regularly sneak up to snap shots of starlets and industry titans. According to previous reports, the spread periodically has been leased for as much as $50,000 a month. DiCaprio bought the house in 1998 for $1.6 million. Leonardo DiCaprio Is Selling Another Property, This Time His Studio City Home for $2.395 Million isabel jones

Leonardo DiCaprio owns a fair share of Los Angeles property. Previously, the actor listed his Malibu mansion for a cool $10 million. Now, according to Trulia, the Oscar-winner is selling his ranch-style home in Studio City, CA – though at the slightly more generous asking price of $2.395 million.

leonardo dicaprio actor

DiCaprio’s Studio City pad seems fit for the wolf of Wall Street himself, boasting 3,407-square-feet of airy interiors sitting on a sprawling 15,000-square-foot lot. The property is lush with greenery, which adds to its self-contained seclusion, garnering the sort of peace and quiet a headline-grabbing Hollywood actor might just enjoy from time to time. Built in 1937, the home retains an air of classical elegance – if Jay Gatsby were to retire to the West Coast, this is where he’d do it. The grand backyard, with a luxe patio and pool, would be the ideal grounds for an under-the-radar party; Leo could join his many model friends for a dip and outdoor barbecue – the estate’s open floor plan could easily accommodate an indoor shindig, as well. Interestingly, DiCaprio’s home hits the market only two years after he initially purchased the estate. Even more interesting, the movie star may just make a profit – he bought the property for just $2.05 million. Michael J. Okun of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing. Leonardo DiCaprio lists second California home in one week – peek inside! Leonardo Dicaprio is at it again. Just a week after putting his Malibu home on the market, he’s now selling his Studio City house. melissa allison Now that he finally has an Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio is narrowing the number of homes in which he can display it. The leading man has listed his home in Studio City for $2.395 million, just a week after putting his Malibu beach house on the market. Not to worry: DiCaprio still owns multiple other homes, including in the Hollywood Hills, Palm Springs and New York City. And he’s headed to another home — the White House — next week to discuss climate change with President Obama at South by South Lawn: A White House Festival of Ideas, Art, and Action. Although it’s no celebrity mansion, the 3,407-square-foot mid-century modern home in Studio City checks all the luxury-living boxes, from the well-appointed chef’s kitchen with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, to the master suite with a garden tub and French doors that opens onto the swimming pool. Set on a third of an acre, it’s a rare forested hideaway in the city, with bamboo floors and walls of glass for taking in the lush landscape. The open floorplan includes expansive living and family rooms, each with a fireplace. They flow into a formal dining room right off the kitchen, which includes a breakfast nook. A mirrored built-in bar in the family room calls to mind a more gracious era, while floor-to-ceiling windows across the entire back of the house lend a sense of nature and the great outdoors even while you’re cozy inside. Many of the windows are actually doors that open onto a large lawn with a deck and pergola for Hollywood-style outdoor entertaining. Take a Look Inside Leonardo DiCaprio’s Studio City Home It hit the market for $2.395 million, and it’s as charming as the suburbs get. marissa g. muller

You’d be forgiven for not knowing that Leonardo DiCaprio’s real estate portfolio includes a home in the quiet Los Angeles suburb, Studio City. It’s not exactly what you’d expect from the Wolf of Wall Street lead, who’s photographed more on yachts than he is on actual land. But his picket fence-enclosed California ranch is a charmer – and, soon, it could be yours. That’s because DiCaprio has just listed the 3,407-square-foot home for $2.395 million. Situated on 15,000 square-foot lot, the 1937 home is an idyllic picture of California living. French doors open from the master bedroom and family room into the backyard, where you’ll find a sparkling pool, a green lawn – an increasing rarity in the droughtstricken state – and a pergola-covered lounge area. Plenty of greenery keeps the backyard a private enclave, as the paparazzishy DiCaprio wouldn’t have it any other way. Inside, the four-bedroom and three-bathroom home offers plenty of space to stretch out between the two living rooms – each centered around a fireplace – wet bar, dining room and massive kitchen, fit for a chef with an eat-in area. DiCaprio purchased the home back in 2014 for $2.05 million, as TMZ reports, so he will be making a nice profit if he receives the asking price. By now, DiCaprio is somewhat of a pro at turning around properties – just last week he listed his longtime Malibu residence for a cool $10.95 million. See how his Studio City home compares below. Buy a Rocky, Renovated Fickett in Fryman Canyon for $3.4M bianca barragan

Architect Edward Fickett usually brings to mind posts and beams, but this quarry-draining house in Studio City’s celebstudded Fryman Canyon has been subjected to a “sweeping renovation” that’s left it more ledgestone and quartzite. (The listing says just installing all that rock took three years.) The kitchen of the four-bedroom, one-story pad is decked out with Italian cabinets and fancy Meile appliances. There is also “a meditation atrium,” wine storage, an outdoor shower, and a fireplace. With pretty much every giant glass window outfitted with the ability to slide into the wall, it almost feels like the saltwater pool is indoors. All of this “Sumptuous minimalism” is asking $3.395 million. Michael J. Okun of Sotheby’s International Realty is the Listing Agent. Copyright © Curbed LA

Mid-Century Modern With Stunning Views of Fryman Canyon Going for $1.3 Million j e f f wat t e n h o f e r

This four-bedroom, three-bathroom mid-century home above Studio City has all sorts of 1960s treats to behold. There’s the open floor plan, those vintage kitchen cabinets, and that awesome floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. The bedrooms are a little plain jane, but that might just be in comparison to what’s outside their windows. The real star of this 1964 property is the view from the backyard, which offers “breathtaking views of cityscape, canyon, & mountain.” The house is so versatile, too. Residents can watch the sunset from behind one of the many massive windows indoors, or go glamping among the trees in the rustic backyard. Just head out into the mulch with a couple lawn chairs, position them just right to block out any other houses from view, and pretend Fryman Canyon is Yosemite. The asking price is $1.299 million. I’ve been an apartment renter for God knows how many years now and I’ve always looked at [online]. During quarantine, especially because we can’t really go anywhere or do anything, I’ve gotten so into home shopping. Being locked down has really shown me how much I need — and I think we all need — more space. I like to window-shop [online] because right now we’re considering buying at a lower budget and renovating something in the Valley area of California. When you look at houses that are priced higher, then you can get an idea of what you might want to put in during the renovation. One thing I realized during the pandemic is that I want a house with a pool. The pool filter is always on. And I usually keep the size set to 2,000 square feet and up. Even if I can’t have exactly what I want right now, one day I will have it. You gotta manifest positivity in your home-buying process. The Ultimate Modern Farmhouse in West Toluca Lake Right off the bat, this is over budget at over $3 million. But that’s not what I’m looking at. I’m looking at the structure. The exterior is exactly what I would want. I love the black and white. It looks really inviting and the modern farmhouse style is just very homey to me. I want a home where when people pull up to it, it’s like you know someone’s baking an apple pie inside. I love the driveway. We definitely want an open-concept home, so the living room leading out to the backyard with that giant window is goals for us. The backyard is phenomenal. There are spots for us to chill. There are places for the dog to pee. Michael J. Okun of Sotheby’s International Realty is the Listing Agent. Copyright © Curbed 34

Malibu. Beverly Hills. Santa Monica. Like Hollywood celebrities, Los Angeles’ most enviable addresses need no introduction. And because high-end properties are so coveted, real estate prices continue to vault ever higher, once again hitting double-digit increases in 2021. Those looking to buy or sell luxury homes realize they are best served by an accomplished professional in this vibrant market, which is why they turn to trusted agents from Sotheby’s International Realty.

Buyers should buckle up: It’s not likely to improve any time soon. Okun believes this demand is driven largely by the move toward virtual and hybrid work environments that have redefined people’s sense of place. “Home is now a live/work space for many, who will pay a premium for spaces that can accommodate their needs. Also, since commuting is no longer an issue, proximity to work is not the driving factor it once was.”

The pandemic ushered in the craziest housing market veteran agents have ever seen. Michael Okun of Sotheby’s International Realty Sherman Oaks brokerage, who has nearly two decades of expertise, marvels at the fact that there is currently less than a one-month supply of homes. “Four to six months is what’s considered an even balance, and we are hovering at a two-to-three week supply.”

Couple that trend with a booming stock market and an imbalance between supply and demand, and the records set in 2021 are not likely to abate in 2022.
