The World’s First HealthPark
A FREE HEALTH PARK. FOR EVERYONE. Powered by YOU and energized through nonprofit partners
Proposal for Partnership Prepared and presented by The University of Illinois - Chicago, The Grant Park Conservancy, VibeUP, PlayPower, Grant Park Advisory Council and TheHealthPark Committee
What is the HealthPark@GrantPark? A New Approach For Health, Completely Free for the World. Creating opportunities for citizens to live healthier lives is vital to the development of our society. Physical activity, nutritious foods, social and family interactions lift the burdens of poor health. We have come to recognize the important difference between living a long life and living a long healthy life. HealthPark@GrantPark is a new and innovative model that allows people from all walks of life to take a personal journey toward a longer healthier life.
WHAT IS HEALTHPARK@GRANTPARK?
Yet, the HealthPark@GrantPark is none of these individual components; it incorporates all of these aspects and more. The HealthPark will revolutionize what a park is.
It’s new. It’s free. It’s yours.

What is our purpose? We will inspire a new culture of personal and community health. We saw a ripe opportunity to enrich lives of millions. We specifically choose Grant Park because it’s high profile. Grant Park sets a vision that ignites trends that ripple across the world. We could have taken a different approach, but this approach in Grant Park has the most riveting impact on creating a culture of health across the globe. We’ve reached a global epidemic with noncommunicable diseases caused by poor lifestyle choices such as inactivity, poor dieting, and smoking. We need to create a new paradigm through inspiration, education, and community that serves everyone. FREE PUBLIC OUTDOOR HEALTH

What are we doing differently? We will transform a 36,000 square foot vacant concrete area into a greener, lush, world-class, epicenter of movement in Chicago’s trend-setting Front Yard, that will be an example to the world. We will increase the greenery in Grant Park, and offer a green, sustainable, environmentally friendly, multi-discipline fitness area that provides holistic well-being and education through countless strategic partnerships. HealthPark@GrantPark will host uplifting health & wellness events from academia, sustainable businesses, fitness groups, healthcare organizations, and major sponsors highlighting Chicago as an international destination in partnership with Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago.

The opportunity
Be in Chicago’s Front Yard… Grant Park.
Chicago voted number two city to visit, on pace to set tourism record THIS YEAR’S CONDÉ NAST TRAVELER READERS’ CHOICE AWARDS In 2015, Chicago reached 51 million visitors, a 3.5% increase, closing the gap on New York with 56 million. This is especially noteworthy given that (1) New York’s population is more than double that of Chicago, 8 million versus 3 million, and (2) New York is more accessible as it sits on a coast. The Chicago market is booming and has ample room for growth, with lower cost of entry for marketing.
