ABOUT MICHAEL

SOCIAL COORDINATOR PLANNING STUDENTS ASSOCATION University of British Columbia, SCARP 2015

I am finishing my Masters degree at the School of Community and Regional Planning, UBC. My research interest is in cultural planning and the cultural economy; more specifically on the role of emerging businesses and considerations that provide recreational space for niche groups like hobby enthusiasts and board gamers. Groups that require venues for social interaction with people that share their unique passion, but are largely neglected by planners, policy makers, and others in charge of the functionality of space.

PRESIDENT URBAN CALGARY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION University of Calgary 2011 - 2012

I bring a fun and caring personality that contributes meaningfully to any team. Part of my mission in joining a new team is to build upon and improve the work culture and lives of those I work with. Other interests of mine include board games and card games, science fiction and fantasy, hiking and camping, softball, and travelling.
