5-in-a-weekend Desk Organizers
These objects are customizable desk organizers designed and produced to take advantage of the digital fabrication tools provided by the COA. I essentially created a kit of parts that could be produced and replicated on a laser cutter. The laser cutter allowed me to use materials other than the urban wood in order to swap out components of the organizer. One has the ability to take apart the organizer and move pieces to a different location, or even adjust the heights of the pieces to satisfy the needs or desires of the user. The small pieces set into the base of the organizer pop out to follow the top pieces so that they will always be matching. The kit of parts uses laminated pieces of 1/8” urban wood from West Chicago and acrylic, as well as stainless steel 8-32 bolts to hold the assembly together.
